PSA: Monster Hunter Now (the mobile game) has a Wilds collab going on where you can get some pretty amazing layered armor. Hope it makes the jump into Wilds itself someday lol
I am a gigantic Monster Hunter fan, I’ve been playing the series for decades. And I will never touch this mobile game, even if it cured cancer.

I feel the same, I just dont do mobile games no matter how much I love the series.

Heck I didn't even bother with Nier Reincarnation even tho I'm huge Nier/Drakengard fanboy.

Good for you, give yourself a pat on the back for sticking to your ideals.

That said, the game is super popular in Japan (the land of fake casual MonHun fans of course) so it ain't going anywhere.

Nier Reincarnation sucked so it was an easy skip. If it was actually good, you'd have been singing a different tune... but Taro's gacha games seem to always be subpar (to put it nicely).

ANYWAY I wasn't trying to derail the thread by posting the Wilds collaboration layered armor in here so let's just leave it at that. :)

I dont do mobile F2P gacha game regardless of quality this also why I dont play games like Genchin Impact or Wuthering Waves.

If the game doesn't let me play it completely offline then I wont buy it no matter what, simple as that.....this is why I love MH games, even tho it has online feature I can play the entire game solo and completely offline.

Did some math. Been about 11 days since release. So 264 hours and they have played 206. Leaving 58 hours for other things. Crazy.
Just pointing out that on PS5 the game seems to count hours in suspended mode as well.

When the game came out, on sunday morning my Pro showed that I played 40hrs, which was about the amount of time that passed since I had booted up the game for the first time.

Same, I love Nier , but I just couldn’t play the mobile game.

I’m actually not wholly against mobile games, I do play a few gachas, but monster hunter should NEVER be a game like this.

I do kind of like how hunting for crown monsters actually sort of feels like hunting. Riding around the map to scope out 5 or 6 monsters with the binoculars feels kind of right. And then it's awesome that when you fight one it automatically makes a quest, and then someone in your link party can simply join it.

What I need to test though is if creating an investigation of a monster saves the monster size... Would be fun to save crown monsters and run them SOS to spread the crown wealth lol

I feel like I'm missing something here, but can you not craft stuff mid-fight? Say I'm running out of Mega Potions, and I have regular Potions and honey in my inventory, is it not possible to make some more megas during battle?

It's probably obvious, but please explain!

thats the only hunting you gonna get in MHWilds :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yes, you can save crown monsters as investigations.

Lol I know right, this game is so uneven... So much feels so good but then so much feels half baked or non existent.

And that's awesome to hear, and now makes me annoyed that I didn't just create an investigation for the mini crown monster that I found with 20 seconds left on the map and ran away before the mission popped...

If I shook my head any harder my neck would snap:

Talk about utterly clueless, no wonder the story and characters are trash, the producer thinks it's *good*! Literally one of the *worst* parts about Monster Hunter Wilds 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hit HR50, even the post game has been a relative cakewalk. Overall I've had a blast despite my criticisms but I'm nearing the point where maybe I've had my fill and it's time to move on, the game should have and could have been a lot more.

This is absolutely the wrong thing for them to take away from the games success. SMH.

The story follows a young man whose home is destroyed by a monster. Getting swept up in the events, he eventually meets a group of people that help him go from town to town seeking answers, with the looming threat of the monster growing every step of the way. The young man overcomes loss, grief, resentment, and eventually finds resolve. A colorful cast of memorable characters add depth and flavor to the journey.

That’s an overview of the story of Wilds.

It’s also describing Final Fantasy X.

It’s also the story of Final Fantasy VII.

It could also be applied to Breath of Fire.

Do you see what I’m getting at here? From a storytelling standpoint, this is a great setup.

Getting into the weeds of it, the story beats involving the Ancient Civilization and detailing the Forbidden Act- these are long standing MH lore beats. Capcom FINALLY addressed the Equal Dragon Weapon, a mythos that has been floating around for over 20 years.

While perhaps you don’t give a shit about the story because MH has always been unga bunga hit monster with sord for you, there always has been an overall setting and lore present. We just have only really gotten bits and pieces of it from quest descriptions and whatever events are happening right in front of us.

Story for me was 100% skip skip. Reminds of Phantasy Star Online the story "campaign" is throw away.
Honestly, I'm trying to give the story a chance but every time the kid speaks I want to skip and end up doing so. I'm at end of chapter 3 and can't really tell what's going on. Monsters destroying villages and stuff and need to die, but it's sad? Something like that.

They obviously have more data than we do, but even if you look at steam achievement percentages, you'll see that an unusually large percentage has finished the LR story. Even games known for their story show people not even finishing it, so there's definitely some truth to their findings.

Say what you want about story and their delivery, I do actually like the big mystery surrounding core story with the ancient civilizations and how they were cloning monsters and used them as weapons for war.

My issue is I wish they wouldn’t try to be “cinematic”, that type of approach doesn’t fit MH games.
