Archive had a decent premise (near future, guy loses his wife in an accident and builds an android based on her), but this is a great example of doing and showing dumb stuff to prove it's supposed to be futuristic technology (and it's only ~20 years into the future) - the whole aesthetic, the fonts and images on the computer screens, very machine-like voices, having 2 retro looking machines that can barely walk and suddenly there's an android that looks and moves exactly like a human being (only covered with white paint and with white hair - lol). It all bothered me, someone wanted to make their own Ex Machina, but lacked the talent, budget and good taste.

Voces aka Don't Listen - A Spanish horror about a family who moved into a haunted house. A premise that was used countless items, but it doesn't feel like watching the same story again. There are some pretty good jumpscares, however the movie would be better if there were less of them so that each scare would be unique and more unexpected. The main evil living in the house is pretty cool, same as how it fucks with the minds of people inside and how the movie isn't trying to keep everyone alive until the final act. Oh, and I hope you like

Deadpool vs Wolverine.
Watched 80% because I was very tired. Funny I've watched Logan the night before because of all the references.
Hmmm. Felt a bit try hard/forced (intro and fourth wall) But I saw it in the context of being tired and with company; I like to watch movies alone.
So yeah.
Enjoyed Deadpool and it's sequel Fwiw.

Finally got to watch Deadpool & Wolverine and yeah, it was pretty fucking funny. And I mean, I'm super tired of multiverse shit, but it's a Deadpool movie, it's played for laughs and cameos and gags so it works here. And that dog was so heinous I thought it must be a CG creation but I guess it's real? lmao.

My dad and I watched this one today, and we both found it to be a decent movie. I grew up watching movies with him, and it was fun to revisit that experience. I also managed to convince him to watch the MCU movies from start to finish, so that’s going to be quite the adventure
I generally steer clear of Dutch films (I'm Dutch myself). There's something about them that feels less refined or visually impactful. Hardcore Never Dies doesn’t suffer from these issues, and I thought it was very well crafted

In short Denzel Washington is a god-fearing killing machine who has to deliver the last surviving Bible to a place told to him in a dream. The film is quite dumb, while trying it's hardest to take itself seriously. Most of the film was quite boring, although the end was actually quite surprising twist. Until you realize that it's completely impossible for all of the Bible to be contained in such a small space.

Watched Gladiator 2 yesterday.
When I was growing up movies like these were Direct to DVD sequels, now they cost apparently 250 million dollars.
Blows my mind. That movie looked so cheap, it's unbelieveable. Bad CGI, cheap sets, bad acting... This movie has it all.
The biggest riddle here is that you apparently had a bunch of executives reading this script and thinking it sounds like it would make a good movie. Unbelievable... At this point it's safe to say that parts of big budget Hollywood are not to be salvaged. They desperately need a crash to get rid of the people who have no idea what they are doing and get real talent in again.

First one is one of my big classics. Just saw it again a few weeks ago. Gladiator was made by artists who love the craft, Gladiator 2 is the definition of a braindead studio film.

The story pics up some 20 years after the original and follows a new protagonist, Hanno, who is taken captive by Romans and made a gladiator. Of course there is lots of political drama going on behind the scenes as well
The film has lots of historical inaccuracies, but it's a very entertaining film, if you can look past them. I did, and had a fun time watching. It's just too bad the actor for the main character does not have enough charisma to be taken seriously as a leader. Thankfully he can fight, and the action scenes are the best part of this film, so many epic scenes. Deserves a watch on a big screen, that's for sure.

Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell - The journey is over and the back half of the final movie is a bit of a letdown as it takes the silly level from fun to what feels like they've run out of ideas for action sequences. Still a fun ride and easy to recommend the series. I'll have to check out the manga now.

The Man From Nowhere - It's a really well made movie that has some obvious inspirations like John Wick and Taken, but I found the action mostly underwhelming and the ending predictable which left me a little cold. Had they gone all in with the ending, I might think more highly of the movie but even then, I found myself a little bored throughout.

And cheap it looks, many CGI shots look like they come from PS1 and they were reused ad infinitum. It was supposed to be schlock and delivered on spades. Surprisingly, they got some relatively well know actors for this, such as Mario Van Peebles and Carl Weathers. The leading ladies also had good-looking butts.

What time is it?
The Audition - Pretty mixed on this. The payoff is wonderfully uncomfortable and I appreciate the desire for a slow burn leading up to the final scenes, but I didn't care much for the lead up and some seemingly unnecessary setups. I also noticed some really weird cuts in the movie, same framing, mid-dialog which felt like a weird splice to get the perfect line delivery.
