MS Flight Simulator 2024 |OT| The Sky is Calling

Yes it does. MSFS2020 is already THE best VR experience on the market and MS said that the new 2024 will be regarded as a proper platform with no dilly-dallying around features and support.

Tip: Keep in mind that the world scale for VR in MSFS202 was a bit in the low end and was best be turned up to about 110-120% or so. But idk if this is the case for 2024 as well.
Thanks. I played MSFS2020 in VR. It's an amazing VR game.

I bought the Logitech 3D Joystick for this! Its cheap, but very good, apparently some people had it for 15 years with no issues. I got it for 45 bucks

Will be buying the Premium Deluxe.

If the installation process is fixed. I love 2020 but fuck trying to install or update it. I’m not dealing with that shit again.

Might even go for the Aviator edition if they don’t fuck anything up.

That would be my dream flight stick. It's too expensive for me, though.
I am not sure what OPS you fly, however I have this one and it is perfect for civil aviation flying with good A/Cs

Thanks, this one looks interesting and 190 bucks isn't too bad.

Can't wait to try this out. Will probably subscribe to gamepass for this. Have never played flying sims before, but I love flying around in gta games and love simulators like gt7, so hopefully I also like this.

I have GamePass but have bought the Premium Deluxe edition. This is the one game I'll always support having played it since FS98.

I would love it to be on GeForce Now, but something tells me that they only put games up on their cloud service they know can run at max settings. I think this is to make them look good, which to be honest it does! I've yet to come across a game where I had to turn down a setting.

I also think that whilst GFN really excels with the 4080, their CPU leaves a lot to be desired which is where a game like FS would bring it to it's knees in the built up areas. CPU is king in games like these...

This is another game I always buy as well to support them making future flight sim games

I'm hopefully, quite a few of MS first party games have come to GeForce Now. However, Forbes have had to recently correct an article they wrote suggesting that GeForce Now would support MS2024, which was incorrect.

Care to share these flightsticks?
I've got a Virpil flight stick and throttle and a set of VKB pedals. They're expensive for video game controllers, but I upgraded from much cheaper kit (CH Products, still pretty good) when I was sure I'd be getting a lot of use out of them.

Even with a cheaper all-in-one unit, I'd recommend getting a set of rudder pedals instead of relying on the twist grip. Makes the single biggest difference to your flight sim experience, imo.

Had to buy separate desk mounts from Monstertech - they come with desktop feet, but the joystick in particular can't be used on a tabletop (you'd be holding it at shoulder height).

I preloaded, but it's only 320mb. I don't think they'll improve something with the installation.

On the contrary, it should be dramatically improved (unless everything we've heard is a lie of course, could be..).

- Install size is now only a third of 2020's
- Not only is the install size a third of 2020, now 2024 is also multithreaded (most of the install and update time in 2020 was due to the process of the CPU working on decompressing downloaded files)
- They've completely reworked the whole process exactly because they got so many complaints about it.

what's the install size? ive got like 6tb across 4 drives but only about 2-300 gb available on each
50GB :)

Very cool.

The game has decent support for that kind of hardware?

50GB :)
I have to imagine that the 50GB will be a minimum install size. Hopefully we will have the option to cache a bunch of data and not be constantly pulling from the cloud.

I can't wait to play this when I get home. Very happy to know it's only a 50GB download unlike the monstrosity that was MSFS 2020 :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

It's about 50GB for everyone, BUT, yes, optionally you can indeed:

1. Buy stuff outside the marketplace and install it locally.
2. Optionally choose whatever location/region and size to download/cache locally when flying.

So it's all good!

Edit: It updated automatically precisely at 17:00 here. Impressive, lol.

Wait, it's downloading 11.9GB

Yep...supports everything. TrackIR, VR, HOTAS...everything a nerd can dream of. Setting this shit up (once) to your likes can be a bit annoying...but than its just smooth "flying".

50GB for me, but my preload was only 300MB so it never actually preloaded.
It's says 50GB at the start, but it downloads only 11.9GB. At least that's how it looks like here.. Probably 50GB after decompressing.

Marketplace currently isn’t available, everything I had downloaded previously says it is being streamed but any purchases made will be available soon. Seems like a cleaner version of 2020 so far with the menus.
