Yeah, that makes sense. They were like let’s just fuck all of our logistics to fuck with the leakers.
Delaying a reveal isn't delaying any logistics or production perse.

Nintendo wants to have the surprise. Delaying a reveal gives them back control over the narrative.

So a little update, managed to get over 1.5k likes on this. I'd like to ask you guys to acknowledge that I'm an industry insider from now on, because at this point, the tweet that I just pulled out of my ass a few hours ago has the same legitimacy as anything any of those unemployed podcast beggars could say 😆

Maybe Nintendo saw those leakers and said "let's outsmart those fuckers" and just delayed the reveal date

What we gonna do?! They're going to sell like crazy anyways
That doesn't seem like a logical business decision. The leaks aren't substantial enough to warrant postponing an announcement trailer that's been in the pipeline for a very long time.

Nate is very reliable but on his podcast he clearly stated that he HEARD this from his source. VGC also said it was true. He obviously thinks it's still being announced.

I think internally Nintendo is really hurt by the leaks and postponed the reveal. They're all about surprises. 2 things can be true at the same time here.

Nintendo wants to control to narrative and the narrative should never be that their stuff can leak so easily. It's not all that hard to postpone a video reveal ;).
There's really no other way to read this than that he put his reputation on the line, that he is STILL maintaining it's going to happen with his "Can you not read a calendar?" tweet.

If he's right, he's earned all the accolades he'll get. If he's wrong, he'll deserve the scorn. He bet big here, and we'll have to see if it pays off.

There's no universe in which Nintendo changes its unveiling plan just to thwart a leaker. These things are too big, too planned. Retailers are counting on being able to take and fill preorders. Hurt (more likely annoyance) and pride don't factor into business decisions like this unless they somehow affect the bottom line.

I will be laughing at all you doubters tomorrow as I'm sitting on my couch on my day off eating pancakes and sipping coffee, joyfully taking in the wonderful nintendo news. I hope....

not happening. they would give some heads up so people can experience the reveal at the same time or so it seems.

I mean imagine the hype when tomorrow, out of nowhere, all the different regional Nintendo YouTube channels suddenly have a live premiere running with no futher info in the thumbnail or title, just a countdown

could be a strategy...
I feel it's unlikely, but it would absolutely get millions of live viewers

the internets is wrong?

Never made much sense to drop a next-gen reveal trailer on the date of DK's launch.
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking lol they are most probably going to:
1. Wait for DK:CR to get some attention and sell some copies, or...
2. Wait for all announced Switch games to be released so they don't harm sales potential

Leaks of what? That it looks like a Switch? Not sure that there is much surprise lost there. We still haven't seen any games or anything.

to be fair, at this point the games are literally like 1 of only 3 things we don't know about it.

we know the design with incredible detail, we know it has optical sensors in the rails of the Joycons, we know it's an 8" 1080p screen, we know the APU and roughly the clock speeds...

What's left is the games, and infos on what those optical sensors do....

and of course the C button, but even that was maybe leaked by dataminers to be some chat-hub button.

Cry me a river. Should have shown it by now if they were so concerned about leaks.

This is all on them.
News articles like that, if true, just further solidify to me that large parts of Nintendo simply doesn't look at nor understand the internet. They probably don't know how much has changed online and how leakers are running rampant in modern times.

They continue to operate on their own time and within their own parameters. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it really doesn't.

Nintendo generally doesn't talk about specs though anyway do they?
