Naughty Dog's next game will offer lots of player freedom - you are not ready for how amazing it looks

Druck's feeling the pressure to shit out Last of Us content for another HBO season...

I'm tepid on being excited for Sony games.

Which is sad because it wasn't too long ago I would have said naughty dog is one of the best.

After ragnarok and forbidden west and SM2 Sony needs a shot in the arm with a new ip that is interesting.

Fans are getting impatient, it's been fucking forever since they've released a game. Remade stuff doesn't count. At least show a teaser trailer or something.
TLOU2 released 4 years ago, that’s nothing today. Your name says that you’re a patient gamer so let them cook. I expect it to be a launch title for PS6, with simultaneous PS5 release for maximum hype and a big userbase.

I'm sure ND will bring out a 10, adult and powerful game, but if they've gone open world and with all the development of TLOU online, I'm afraid we're still many years away from seeing this game in stores.

Between giving Druckmann almost complete creative control of all of Naughty Dog, the nonsensical story of TLOU2, and the shit canning of Factions 2, I'm just going to sit back and wait to see actual proof.

Open world shouldn’t delay it, it’s in their blood if you know Jak, and they released The Lost Legacy a year after Uncharted 4. Plus they might be able to reuse some Factions content depending on the theme and art direction

But it’s 2024 and game development seems time consuming now and they released TLOU2 4 years ago. So yeah I think you’re right that it’s years away.
I’m thinking the new IP is a PS6 launch title plus crossgen PS5 release, in 2028. Slight chance that it’s a late generation PS5 title, then they can release a remaster later on PS6, if so 2026.

Did you look read the thread title?
It’s talking about the visuals and the scope. Those are basically a given

Tbh I could do with a Saturday Morning Matinee type game from these guys, with some globe trotting adventures with characters I love solving some deep mystery, make it light hearted... The world needs Nathan Drake back

This was one of the most excruciatingly boring games I've played. It was the intellectually stimulating equivalent of this toy:

But it was visually gorgeous and the animations were awesome. I wish they had made it as an animated movie instead.
I mean... are you surprised? New age, modern AAA developers aim to capture exactly "that" audience. It has to be accessible to everyone at the expense of depth and replayable longevity.

I don't doubt ND will deliver on the visual presentation. Its probably going to be sharp. I'm more curious and concerned about what will be underneath that "paintjob".

Visuals? Yes, I agree. Scope? I don't. Their recent games have all been single player and narrative focused. These are not wide open worlds with branching storylines. Their games are largely driven by their narratives, therefore much of one's enjoyment come from whether you enjoy said narratives. And given my issues with some parts of the writing in UC4, UCLL and TLOU2, I'm taking a wait and see approach; i.e. will Druckmann double down on some of worst parts of his writing? Is this an overly controversial stance to take on an optional hobby? Especially a hobby that I'm finding less and less time to devote to due to being a father to a toddler.

Player freedom as in strongholds, checkpoints and lockboxes similar to a few of the missions and U4 and lost legacy that were mediocre as fuck and all had the same loop of every other open world game out there? Because I prefer linear.

The first page is embarrassing, I suppose the rest are the same but I haven't even wanted to read them.

So much hate can't be good for your health :messenger_face_screaming:
You're absolutely right. Its all hate. We should all clap like seals with zero thought in the process. Cautious expectations are disadvised. Throw away any amount of restraint/inhibition and let's f-ing go!

Every time I hear that it ends up being the same small boring gameplay loop in a big open world.

Go to spot on map and kill/retrieve something.
