New report says PC games are outselling console games, calling PC gaming a 'bright spot' in a troubled industry

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
It's kids playing Roblox, not you gray beard grognards buying a 4090 to play a very slightly visually upgraded version of Last of Us on your sofa.

Dont forget the students buying a laptop for education, and then use it to play games instead of paying $700 for a console

This is bound to happen and it'll continue to go this way with PC growing more and more and consoles less and less. All the good stuff are playable on PC now too and even the exclusives are timed exclusives. Nintendo can still attract a lot of kids but even these same kids will either get into PC or they are already doing both Switch and PC.

It ain't like the early 2000s or earlier anymore when consoles still hold more of the good stuff during that time. Made the jump to PC fully near the end of the PS3 era and it was the best thing ever.

This just isn't true:

Even counting from 2021, I do not see any evidence for a 20% revenue increase for PC or console.

Another fabricated "report".

Newzoo isn't a good source of data that was highlighted in the article.

That's nothing. I heard that the main demographic for steam users is terrorists who use a terrorist laptop for gaming because they need it for their terror and can't play on a PS5 like a decent human who isn't a terrorist.

PC has more to offer when it comes to available games. From the AAA games that simply aren’t guaranteed to be good to a fuckton of indie games that are actually worth your time. You just launch them and start playing.

Same shit, sadly, goes for mobile too. Sadly because the vast majority ask for money to progress one way or another.

People really like a good story, but I believe proper gameplay is liked even more. Console games are mostly story driven, so the priorities are wrong. Having both is very much possible, but seems to get more rare.
