NPD Canada.

Not much, but better than the nothing we get:

On average, Canadians so far have purchased approximately three games for every PS4 or Xbox One sold; that number is 11 percent less than when the PS3 and Xbox 360 launched.

Despite this drop in average number of games being sold for each system, the sales results for the latest consoles remain very strong eight months after launch. Comparing the launch this past year with the previous launch of the Xbox 360 and PS3, console sales in Canada have never been stronger. Combined these two systems have outsold their predecessors during launch by 127 percent. Along with strong console sales, software sales have doubled versus previous launches, with sales up 102 percent. Accessory sales, although up 29 percent, remain the softest area of growth for these new systems.

I'm having trouble reconciling these two statements in my head

Perhaps they are taking about software revenue which would be higher pound for pound versus previous generations due to higher software prices?

Thanks for the info Road. Certainly more interesting than usual considering we get basically zilch for Canada

Fewer games purchased per console (-11%) = Tie-Ratio

Along with strong console sales, software sales have doubled versus previous launches, with sales up 102 percent.

More PS4/One software sales overall, cause the PS4/One hardware sales are much higher then PS360 were at the same point = Absolute software sales

Ah that makes sense. Higher hardware sales without similar high software sales but still higher software sales because of so much hardware momentum

Sunday I think. NPD reporting period ends tomorrow.

Last month the NPD Reporting Period ended on July 5th and the thread went up at 8:00 PM on July 5th.

The month before that, the period ended on May 31st and the thread went up at 9:30 PM on May 30th.

So it could go either way. Either today or tomorrow.

I'm new so I am not sure if I can post a link, but over on DailyTech the author states the PS4 is 2:1 in hardware and 3:1 in software sales compared to the Xbox One. Gives several reasons as to why as well.

It looks like he is pulling numbers out of no where in some paragraphs though. Last I knew from this thread and the GAF in general was it was around 9 million to Ones 5 +/- million.

Why is Destiny higher on Xbox One for the whole month on Amazon? Seems pretty weird given how the sales will end up going overall.

Edit: probably the bundle

Not (just) the bundle, because ps4 owners got the Alpha and have been preordering Destiny in bigger numbers before July.

June:
ps4 10th
[ps4 Destiny bundle 23rd]
xb1 36th

May:
ps4 45th
xb1 94th

April:
ps4 54th
xb1 100th

Year to date it's pretty close:
ps4 21st
xb1 26th

I wouldn't be surprised if the USA numbers are close for Destiny between PS4 and XB1. Xbox platform has a lot of Bungie fans. Worldwide is a different story. The Destiny deal is beneficial for all involved.

1) To help Sony secure a bigger shooter foot hold in the USA

2) For Activision/Bungie to access consumers outside of the USA and UK.
