I wonder if Sony will announce 25m consoles during E3? Might not be quite there yet.
Do you really think the Xbox One and PS4 can sell 160 million combined? That would require the PS4 to sell 100 million and the xbox one to sell 60 million.
Yes. Long term these consoles were built with reduction in costs in mind. The PS3 is still $250 plus new right now.

PS4 maybe will sell 100 million. I really doubt Xbox One can sell 60 million to reach 160m combined.
Just to add something to the "Nintendo underperforming" discussion. Edit: Saying, while it's mostly "their fault", we have a couple of million users lost by the other two companies. The XB1 is outselling the 360 as well. The only difference is Nintendo underperforming.
Edit: Ignore the labels

The last part is interesting, since it specifically mentions unit sales, and not sales with no specifications (which can mean revenue). Math experts, I summon ye!
EDIT: Wait, year-to-date means first 5 months or May only, just to clarify.
This. Down 25%, lots of old games on the list.

People should compare more years than single months to past gen. Sales are more and more concentrating to holidays and around tentpole releases.
No I'm not.Are you trying to argue Nintendo isn't underperforming? Because both graphs show Nintendo doing pretty awful.

SCE just had their worst hardware year since 1997.
Worldwide hardware shipments (doesn't include Game & Watch):
Only consoles:
XB1+PS4+Wiiu first 5 months last year
2521500
subtract 1%
2496285
XB1+PS4+Wiiu first 4 months this year + 139K for XB1
2318200
Which means PS4 + Wiiu = 178K
Third.

Or one's a pick-up-and-play multiplayer online shooter and one's a realtime strategy game.I wonder how much of the success of Splatoon and failure of Codename "Project" Steam is due to art style alone. The second both games were revealed people had visceral reactions to the art and character designs of each. Unconfined joy at Splatoon, disgust at Steam. Then the ridiculous amount of Splatoon fanart and attendant constant forum posts just seemed to build up this massive wave of hype that carried it home.
I mean, if Splatoon played the exact same but looked like Steam, would it have done half this well? I don't think so. Lesson learned: cute edgy squids and modern fashion = win.
There are, there was one xbox arcade game that was terrible and never released and some idiots thought nintendo stole the idea from them.

I assumed Splatoon would chart below the Witcher, but below all those older titles too? In a month where retail software was down 25% and after they gave it such a huge marketing push? Nintendo's "Mario Kart presale" PR comparison just confuses me even more now.
1.) The Witcher III: Wild Hunt (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

IDK but ~200k remaining between PS4 and Wii U?
NO NO NO.
They mean all hardware sales, not just gen 8.

22.3m shipped until march. Q2 calendar year is weak, so, no.
Amazing for a title that was traditionally PC and it sold the most on PS4. No publisher/dev regret there I bet.
This still surprises me to hear.SCE just had their worst hardware year since 1997.

If true, this means that consoles are no longer mass market gaming devices, they're luxury goods that people don't buy for themselves any longer but get gifted at holidays.
It also means they're not competing for general entertainment product dollars anymore, they're competing with whatever shows up on "Hot gifts for Him" lists annually.

Who marketed the Witcher?
The Witcher PS4 beating out XBO is interesting given the marketing arrangement that latter had in place.
Fascinating that run-of-the-mill FPS games, even with a marketing deal in place with PS4, win on XBO. As for everything else, not so much.
Who marketed the Witcher?
creamsugar's pie is coming and we already have a baseline, so we just need to wait.
Yeah, but they know how to make money know, therefore it's ok.That's kinda surprising to hear.
It did sell very well on PS4, however, since this only accounts for retail sales it is difficult to tell how it did wrt PC since most of those sales will be digital.
