I sooooo can't wait to read all the reviews here on GAF - I hope some of you can just keep a sorta 'diary' up and leave feedback as you're playing the game! We've put soooo much of ourselves into it and we've been playtesting like crazy for the last 2 weeks, just to find every last nook and cranny that's not perfect yet.
Can't tell you guys how excited I'll be following GAF when Ori releases![]()

Looking forward to seeing if the team managed to tweak the movement controls so it doesn't require absolute precision from start to finish.
I don't mind a challenge (and I can very much see Ori being a game that appeals to speed runners), but Ori is exactly the type of game that would appeal to my SO in terms of look and feel. As soon as she hits those pixel perfect jump requirements though, that would be it for the game.
HahahaWe actually invited quite a lot of female testers with little to no gaming experience to our playtesting sessions and I also had my 'SO' play through Ori. And she never played anything else before.
Obviously, there are tough parts where you might have to help her out, but we also balanced the game so that if something's too difficult for you, you can just go around and explore to find more abilties, etc. that'll make your life easier (i.e.: Get that Triple Jump early on!)
Also, the Ability Tree is balanced in that way as well: If you take a lot of damage, you might want to invest into the defensive abilities... just a hint![]()
I really want to get this game but the difficulty might throw me off.
How hard is it? Is it frustrating hard like series of timings over and over in a row or smart hard as in puzzle solving and numerous ways to do area? If you know what I mean?

I wouldn't be too worried about Ori being anywhere near as difficult as something like Super Meat Boy. Having said that, it does have quite a punch in terms of difficulty. At the same time, you can save everywhere in the game and I had lots of people with less experience in gaming finishing it. The light RPG elements help to balance that out - I think the crazy Gaming Ninjas will probably try to beat it without using the Ability Tree at all, but most people will try to strategize a bit.
Don't worry, just try it![]()
The game will take 10-12 hours to complete according to Moon Studios.
Behind the scenes of the making of the music (much effort) - sounds awesome.

When I played the preview build, the challenge was in the timing of movement and jumps. Knowing what to do or how to solve a puzzle was always pretty straightforward.
The first demo level was more of a training level. The Ginso Tree (as noted above) required super precision to complete, but thomasmahler said that they purposefully increased the difficulty there (I suppose that would explain why the producer was surprised I had completed all three levels).
The last demo level I played, Forlorn Ruins had its difficultly in the use of blind jumps. There were a few places where you didn't know what was ahead until you made the jump. So basically you had to save, make the jump, and if you guessed wrong, reload and then jump to the correct side.
I might have asked this before I forget but is ori cross buy between Xbox and pc?

TM, my wife just watched this and said it looks like something she (an.occasional gamer) wants to play. So that's another sale for you![]()

Yeah great concept art, when are we going to see some actual screenshots?
Is there a demo planned for this? it might help sales on the Xbone.
Still undecided on which system I'll get this.
It looks even better in motionAll the particles flying around, the interactive lighting, all the movement in the environment, the post, etc, etc. - And soon you'll be able to open that gate to enter Mount Horu!
Need to grab a XBO for this. But already PS4 owner and a wedding & honeymoon to pay for.. how will I get away with this![]()
If the opening of the game is the initial trailer shown at e3 I have already cried about this game. The visuals and music combined in that scene together had tears welling up.Show your wife the trailer and tell her that it's a game she'll enjoy, too! I promise you'll both cry before it ends![]()
You have my permission to wait for reviews.I find this game boring...Let me wait for reviews

Ori and the Blind Forest |OT| A promise of tears.
Seriously, does anyone have a good idea for a thread title?

So when does the embargo end for this one? Any chance at early reviews?
I think it's the morning of March 9th, 2 days before release, but don't quote me on that.
