He know. Just read all his defense force posts.

It's about looking at both sides of the coin. You just look at one side and say that's sufficient. There's no conclusive evidence it's all Hermen.

Just wake up a bit. I used to like your posts. Something strange happened over the last year with you.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Now, now. I take no happiness in all the wasted time and effort from two talented first party studios.

What are you saying? I'm not a fanboy I used to be?

Thats your reply?

You are the one that need a more wake up slap than any other here in gaf. If a God of War live service will not wake up you, nothing ever will.

HH is making the right call, but I'd have commended him for big balls had this cleanup started before Concord bombed.

Well sometimes you need a big failure to say, "see? I was right about overinvesting in this area". Remember a lot of these decisions go above even Jim's pay grade.

Anyways, even though this news is seen as a negative, I think it's a positive development. It means Sony's not going to waste time chasing GaaS with single player studios.

I've always said they should just re-structure all of GaaS around Bungie, that's what they bought them for, right? Have them work on incubation projects (small stuff) and then devote more resources if it has a future (like Helldivers 2). This stuff should be easy to weed out pretty early on, imho. And no use making SP studios waste any time on something that's not a core competence of theirs.

Sucks that Bluepoint just wasted 4 fucking years though, I thought they were working on a new SP IP? Was this GaaS title a 2nd project?

But late for that. Whole generation down the pan from a first party perspective.

That's hyperbole though. These GaaS title failures definitely hurt their FP output, but the whole generation is not a flop just because Bend and Bluepoint wasted time on a GaaS, and a new studio for Concord flopped.

Most of their SP teams are still doing SP.

Sony is starting to heal. I hope that twisted DEI initiative is next to be remove from Sony. To be honest, despite of success of some titles and still good sale of ps5 and ps5 pro, Sony took allot of L's especially with concord and to much focus on gaas and remasters. Good thing Sony PS fans are very patient, loyal and still trusting the Sony brand.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious this gen will go down as a massive disappointment. Too many bad decisions and dev cycles are way too long. Something needs to change with the PS6, or whatever Sony does next. We need to scale back to get budgets and dev times under control. Xbox is toast so who gives a fuck about what they do.

The thing is, even when they fail, they have great success elsewhere. 2024 was a big year for their output, they won GOTY, so it's not like it's nothing but gloom. They still have an excellent core and cadence to all their efforts.

They just need to learn that chasing $$$$ that risks losing $$$$$$$$$ is not worth it. There's nothing to be ashamed about by making SP games with less revenue potential but also less risk. Let these studios thrive with what they do best and what your audience expects.

1 released, 3 WIP, 8 cancelled.

That list doesnt even include that mobile studio Neon Koi they bought and shuttered with zero games released.

Bungie projects never counted on that. They weren't even part of Sony when they talked about those 12 GAAS projects.
Replace Marathon and Payback with MLB The Show and whatever Neon Koi was making.

Tag, you're it.
At least it's now canceled. Let's hope they can focus on what they are good at: beautiful single player games with strong stories.

I'm always baffled by some of the decisions these people make, whether it's Microsoft or Sony. Bluepoint on a GaaS, WTF where they thinking.

What a colossal waste of time, resource, and manpower. All simply just thrown away...

Sigh, Sony could have been use those talents and funds to revive OG PS franchise like jak, sly, socom, resistance, killzone, days gone, warhawk, motorstorm, or more rpg's like legend of dragoon, legend of legaia, wild arms, alundra, etc.

Breaking here…

Well damn, I liked the multiplayer mode in God of Dar Ascension.

Sony seems to gave up on multiplayer games.
