What are you talking about? The 1 TB OLED steam deck is selling for C$819 in Canada. The 256 GB version is going for C$499.

Wasn't looking on steam, either way its still double the price

256 gb is still not enough space either

Got mine earlier today. I'm actually pleasantly surprised, it works much better than i expected with my 300 mb connection. It is more stable than the remote play app and the streaming quality is better too.

The device itself is very comfortable to hold, much better than a backbone or even the Switch. It has a nice glossy screen. It's not comparable to an OLED TV but more than good enough. I think it's quite a bit better than the og Switch screen.

The dual sense is pretty much identical to the regular one. I think the thumbsticks are slightly smaller but that's it.

So yeah, i,m happy so far. I can't go back to phone streaming.
GAF - quick they’re enjoying a product!

I just want to know how it handles logins for multiple profiles. I share my ps5 with my kids and we all have our own profiles. To switch to a different profile on this device, do I have to log out/ log in each time or can I log in with each one and just select which profile I want to remote with?
You wouldn't need profiles on the PSP, it connects to your PS5 as if it is a second screen. There is nothing saved on the device, its just a screen for remote play.

Can you answer this for th4tguy th4tguy
Multiple user profiles and portal

OK, so I answered for th4tguy th4tguy it's just a second screen for the PS5. You don't have profiles on the unit as you don't save anything to the device. you control the profiles as you normally would. Dont think of it as a Switch, Steam Deck, or even the app on your phone, it's literally just a screen.

HOWEVER, Sony says they are looking into direct-to-cloud streaming. I would imagine that the custom OS on the device would get an update to have profiles.

I think he means multiple profiles on the PS5. When connecting with Portal do you switch then using the device not actually on it.

What the fuck are you talking about, Steam Deck plays games locally on the device with no latency, you can also emulate older games, stream movies online and browse the internet.

You can also stream PS5 to Steam Deck and you'll probably get around 6-6.5 hours from it. With the new OLED Deck you'll probably get 8 hours.

Otherwise, what's going on at Sony, it's like they don't know what they're doing. Absolutely nothing worth talking about happening over there over the last couple of years. It's like they fell of a cliff.
Honestly the battery life is better than that with streaming on Chiaki and XbPlay because it’s not too hardware intensive: kind of a pain to get it set up but streaming both PS5 and Xbox on one device and having native games ensures I’m not getting a Portal.

What the hell? I stood up for this device when I thought it had direct connection with PS5 with some sort of USB dongle or the like.

With wifi and testing over 120ms, it sucks compared to using a Wii U gamepad. What a fucking joke. If you want to play PS5 games at home that bad, you may as well do it a different way that will also allow it out of the house and do anything else you want.

So have had mine a few hours and COD is tough and not really enjoyable as the lag can really be felt and gets your wrecked. MLB The Show and NBA 2k are near perfect. Will put more games through their pace’s tomorrow but very happy with it.
Dang. So single player experiences are good but anything close to competitive it's not going to be a good experience? So no grinding camos/skins because you'll get smoked.

That's good to hear! When I play COD on my PS5, I always play it in 120hz mode, so I don't expect to be able to be successful playing COD on the Portal. But with single-player games, I would hope that the Portal plays well even if it doesn't have WiFi 6. Please keep us updated!

MLB the show was one I had problem streaming on my GCloud due to the timing for hitting. Nice to hear it plays well on the Portal. Of course my hitting is trash either way.

Hitting is a little trickier as I usually use the stick for directional hitting but just using one click hitting on this and it’s doing fine but my house has a very powerful router mesh system so signal is very good

It’s not ideal and was getting wrecked regularly because of the split second delay. It’s doable for just grinding camos but I wouldn’t use it going in hoping to top the leaderboards

I would not want to try and be super competitive using it online

Oh side note reviews probably mentioned this but I will say it anyhow this thing feels great in the hands but the sticks are smaller than the dualsense

Its not terrible but being a large man with grizzly bear sized hands i can sure feel the size difference

That was my fear. Are there any streaming handhelds with no noticeable lag in games like CoD?

With smaller sticks do your thumbs feel like they slide off? I hope stick drift is addressed since or can you replace them if they start going out.

None. Streaming is not quite there yet, and I don't know if it will ever get there for COD. I have 600 Mbps download speed, and am connected by wired to my router, and I'm usually in the top 3 in my games. But some games I find myself at the bottom 3 even though the game is telling me that my connection is less than 20 ms. I can't imagine we'll be getting a streaming device with no lags anytime soon.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Its a Remote Play device, what people expect is irrelevant, its for, you know, Playing.... Remotely (which it does very well, better than anything else out there for PS5 Remote Play)

It’s literally the only thing it can do for no reason. Its hardware is able to but can’t access PS5 media app or cloud streaming. Actually, I am going to push for it to never get updated for PS cloud streaming or app support since that’s what some of you guys want.

Yep so everyone is going to want to make sure their PS is hardwired.

Even if it's sitting by the best router out it makes a difference.

Then set priority hi for the PS and PSPortable. Sometimes called QoS or other. Some mesh systems don't even allow this like a certain eero system. Since the Portable will be wireless this will give you the best connection with it.

This page is up and might offer some other tips.

People with fiber will probably have the best connection, people with cable will experience more lag, people with satellite shouldn't even bother until they patch in a direct connection that traffics only on your network.

How many times are you going to come in here crying about what it should/shouldn’t be? It is what it is, deal with it.

How are the haptics and adaptive triggers? Is that identical?

Is it just as good as a "native handheld" experience? Like literally a PS5 in my hands with very little compromises? I could play some twitch based game and love it?

I don't understand why you keep repeating that. Nobody is saying otherwise, are they?

It is a remote play device. Sony is advertising it as a remote play device. People are buying it as a remote play device so much so that it is already out of stock.

If Cloud Streaming comes, that will be an added bonus. If it doesn't come, there is no harm done as it is not one of the advertised/promised features anyway.

This is exactly what I was hoping for real world and the whole reason why this device is worth it for some buyers.

Yeah I think, according to the reviews as well, this is "a very well-made device for a very specific use case."

So not for everyone. But for those who do need it will love it.

Can you cloud stream steam games on steam deck for free with no strings attached?

You’re certainly charged nothing if you want to stream GeForce Now games on the deck on your existing GFN subscription.

There’s PS5 game streaming on PS Plus Premium and that certainly isn’t free.

Interesting that you completely ignore positive posts from people like TheTony316, I guess you have decided its crap, you should probably move along just so you don't waste any more time on it.

thought about this a bit more and I’m beginning to come round to this. Maybe not an immediate purchase but probably something I’ll pick up later this year.

Some of the reviews are overly critical. It’s not any more limited than the Steam Link + Steam controller setup in the past and that had really good critic reception for a device that could only do local streaming.

This would certainly have been a lifesaver for me when my kids were much younger and I couldn’t play certain mature games on the home console. Or when they’d hog the TV with their cartoons and stuff.
