Potential for FABLE HD or Crimson Skies HD?

The last two years have seen an onslaught of HD "remakes" from both first and third parties. Sony has more or less put out all the essential PS2 hits in HD, Ubi has released Pop and SC, Sega is going through the DreamCast library and a Shenmue seems inevitable at this point. Hell, Hitman was announced today.

My question is, with all of these classic titles getting a second life as an HD remake, why hasn't Microsoft released two of the greatest Xbox titles again in HD? Is there not a market for them? Halo CE:A sold pretty well and that still stands as their only HD release.

I would be day 1 on Crimson Skies. Hell, I don't even need an HD revival, just re-release that shit on XBLA and I will be there.

Its the only Xbox game I still own, but a re-release to get people playing online would be fantastic

I am the only one left out of my brothers and friends who still have their Xbox and CS is one of those titles I still go back to every time I plug it up. There are a few other Xbox classics(KotOR 1,2, Jade Empire) I wanted in HD but I have no idea why MS doesn't turn to its older hits.

Aren't both of those BC titles and playable on 360 in upscaled HD already??

Having the assets upscaled by a TV or console is nowhere near as good as having the assets rendered at a higher resolution.

In regards to Fable 1 the PC version will probably run on just about anything these day, so if you really want to play that game again in HD Steam would be a good option.

Just got done playing through that game in August.

Fable 1 has the PC version, it even had extra content over the Xbox version if I remember right.

I'd love a HD version of Crimson Skies though. That game was rad. Nowhere near enough arcade flight games anymore.

The 360 just doesn't have the insanely diverse lineup of multiplayer games that the original Xbox did. I'll never forget staying up until the wee hours of the morning playing and watching my roommate play Phantom Dust.

If we're not going to get sequels, I would love to at least have HD remakes or good spiritual successors to:

Phantom Dust
Crimson Skies
MechAssault
Steel Battalion (that Kinect abomination doesn't count)
Unreal Championship (UT3 actually isn't bad with all the upgrades. The UC games were kind of their own thing though)

I'd also like follow-ups to Tom Clancy games that aren't completely awful. The OG Xbox ones were a great balance between accessibility and complexity. Everything since has not been worth the time, I don't think I'd even play them if Ubi gave them away.

And while there are better ways to play it now, this console having online Street Fighter 3 was awesome. And perhaps because these games were all more unique, or maybe because there were fewer to choose from, you could always find people to play with unlike the fate of so many 360 shooters 6 months after launch.

Day 1 seems to be working on a spiritual successor to MA at least.

It would also be nice to see Advent Rising get an HD release or somehow finished. Stupid Majesco...

Well there you go... and thats why I want a re-release :P

This is why I really prefer to see games get releases on PC.

Backwards compatibility is built into the system, can naturally run the games in any resolution, can always find a way to play online, and texture/gameplay mods keep the game up to date and fresh.

MS just doesn't believe in HD remakes, for better or worse. This late in the generation, IF they were to remake anything, I think it's best to just wait for next gen to do so.

IIRC Crimson Skies runs pretty well but Fable runs like ass running on BC.

I would buy Crimson Skies in a heartbeat. Off hand, it was the only game on the Xbox I can even remember playing on Xbox Live (not a Halo guy). It was fucking AMAZING -- single player rocked too.

The idea that people want a Halo 3 anniversary annoys me. So many deserving titles instead.

I absolutely loved Advent Rising, even with the performance and gameplay issues. The story was actually very well done and it really sucks we'll never finish the trilogy after the cliffhanger ending in part 1. =(

I purchased Advent Rising on the PC but every time I plugged in my wired 360 controller, the camera would constantly spin. Not sure if it's a bug, the game doesn't support analog sticks on controllers, or something else, but I can't see me playing the game using a mouse and KB.

It was one of those games that I saw ads for on the back of "Star Wars: Insider" looked good enough that I ended picking it up and loved it.

I'd love some Crimson Skies. I remember that stage where it was always raining and the lightning was coming down. Dogfighting it out. I've only got that type of joy from the Snoopy game this generation.

I think it holds up alright. I wouldn't mind taking a trip through it again on my Xbox.

With GameSpy randomly pulling servers for old games if the developers don't pay up exorbitant new contract fees, that isn't entirely the case. Although I'm sure most games will let you direct connect (same goes for tunneling console games), server browsing/hosting is being killed in many classic games as we speak, including games that still have 200+ simultaneous players. That said, this being PC, I think the guys who have been running Neverwinter Nights servers for this long and the community that frequents them will figure something out to keep things going, whereas tunneling is all you get with console games (and if they don't support system link, not even that).

From my understanding Gamespy just hosted the master server that you query when you are searching for servers to get on. Easy enough to get around if you still want to play these games.

Then there are also tunneling options, like you mentioned, as well as faking LAN connections, and plenty of other options to gain multiplayer access.

Keep in mind those shots are downsampled from a ridiuclous resolution with AF, AA, and AO on top of that.

The xbox version will look nothing like those shots.

With that said, I had a lot of fun with this game. Fable didn't look like a game from the original xbox with the downsampling and other graphical options, and the gameplay held up really well.

I really recommend the dodge ability. It allows you to teleport behind an enemy and attack them, dodging any attacks that were going to hit your original position.

This made some of the later fights with some of the tougher enemies incredibly fun trying to dodge all of their attacks and rack up a higher multiplier.

I remember when I played through the game in the past, I would level up the Time Slow technique. I would stay away from this one, its fun but really breaks the game.

I see. Still would though. I played through it twice but that was near launch, so long ago.

No gamepad support, if I remember correctly.

A Crimson Skies collection would actually be a good idea, bringing the first game to Xbox for the first time.

I love stealth Snoopy Flying Ace threads.

The platforming sections as seen in this trailer have been cut, right?
