See sony is way ahead of this.
They jist decided not to release any new AAA titles . No games no delays. Smart

My expectations for this game are now at mild. The track record for these long to develop and delayed games is not great.

The least surprising disappointing surprise.

Fable is a huge game and it's mostly a startup studio (tech carries and some crossover us there, but the original Leamington Spa team still has lots of Forza Horizon work on its plate,) that previous 2025 date was wishful thinking. I hate the painful timeline of modern game production, but it's not shocking or unnerving that Fable needs more time.

Just another thing Phil spouts that Xbox fans eat up without admitting he's a complete hypocrite for saying it. Well, we see what no pushback from their fans have gotten them.

Imagine thinking Fable will ever be released

It's the Duke Nukem Forever of Microsoft Game Studios, it will only ever be released after it's abandoned and then rescued and hastily thrown together for a quick and dirty release by Randy Pitchford and Gearbox Software

😅 Living up to it's namesake then...

We haven't seen an ounce of gameplay from this game and it was announced in 2020. What a mess.

They announced it in 2020 with a logo trailer; it was basically a greenlight announcement that MS had built ran and were committing to the project.

We knew rumors before this event that Playground was staffing up a second office and was recruiting for a new Fable. However, it was known at the time that the proect was very early and if i remember right the same rumors said they didn't have much more than a logo and test work at that point. (The Fable production has never been been treated like Perfect Dark where MS execs have Tommy Finaggled up posts saying, "Oh no, no disaster, none at all.... in fact, why, i just played it yesterday and it's fantastic - yeah, that's the ticket!"

Playground is a legit studio. I just think they bit off more than they can chew here. Similar to The Initiative who also needed to bring in an external studio to help them complete their game. Microsoft has no business being in gaming anymore.

Everybody brings in external studios to help the build games, we just usually don't hear about it. Check the credits list for Certain Affinity or Sumo Digital and you'll see a ton of alley-oop work on AAA games.

You just heard about this one because it's weird that a publisher's internal studio got the co-dev contact rather than an independent. (Also, it got publicized as part o fthe debacle with The Initiative where all their creative heads left but they still get to say they brought on Crystal Dynamics to "help". Sorry if im bagging on PD, but that's the project that should be getting the negativity in this thread, Fable just got announced too early, which happens in a console announcement cycle; that second trailer also putb the heat on, which is kind of a shame they showed it so early when it clearly was moee tech demo than gameplay showcase.)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
No, seriously, it seems like you don't know.

Toys for Bob is the name of a studio.

And they announced that they've gotten into a publishing agreement in 2024, they didn't announce any game.

Doesn’t matter, was only listed as being at 9 months anyway.

You’re totally ignoring the huge list of vaporware above it.

As usual, gotten to.

Another point, where's that Venom game dooders? I was pumped for that despite having real issues with much of 2, is it canceled now or is it still happening?
I mean, to be perfectly honest 2025 has barely started. Astro Bot was revealed late May and was released three months later. If I remember correctly Miles Morales was also released in the same year it was announced

Exactly. OG Fable had a stylized art style, humor, setting, etc.

I only played the first 2 games, but if they had shown the new game trailers without slapping the Fable name on it, I would have never guessed it was Fable.

?

The teaser was built on a Shrek-like joke, and the second starred a giant-sized Richard Ayoade.

Which trailers have you been watching?

There's not been much humor in the gameplay footage shown, but gameplay is rarely funny by itself (unless cool shit explodes in a wild way or dumb crap happens unexpectedly... or if there's a fart, I guess, that's also comedy.) Without looking yet, I'm going to guess that the Lionhead Fables' trailers (if they had them back then) weren't heavy on the funny either, we just knew it would be part of the Molyniex equation...

*edit* Yep, guessed right.
No comedy in the Fable 1 E3 trailer.
No comedy in the Fable 2 E3 or Launch trailers.

It's probably been asked, but is there a reason they've made the main character so unattractive? It seems like it's quite a deliberate design choice.

Or she based on someone real..? I kind of doubt it.

I'm starting to fondly look back at the precision and speed of Final Fantasy XV's dev cycle.

FFXIII plays like a velvet dream today compared to some of these massive flops. "It's too hard to make HD towns, lol, fucking clowns,"

SHOES ON THE OTHER ASS CHEEK NOW, ISN'T IT, GAMERS? Avowed doesn't even have HD fish. The most visually impressive thing about this new Fable is the vomit I choke and sputter out of my face hole upon seeing the trailer's lead character. Veilguard was written so poorly that the one chick didn't even know how to refer to herself.

As a fan of the franchise I want to give this a chance but it seems too far removed from the original concept. Aren’t we supposed to play as a young lad who ages and grows old throughout the game? That was fun and made for some interesting gameplay opportunities. I just don’t understand why they went with an adult black female protagonist at all. How does that fit in with the franchise historically in any way?

If lionhead were given this amount of time, they might actually have been able to include all the crazy features Peter dreamt up.

Microsoft is so weird, it's painfully obvious even to an outsider that they have no idea how to manage their studios or sell consoles, honestly, 343 bungled the Halo franchise for 10+ years, the Perfect Dark team have had forever and seemingly don't even know how to make a game so had to bring in Crystal Dynamics, and still just have some fake gameplay clip after what, 6 years? Horizon Motorsport shat the bed, accidentally shot their studio in the foot by shadow dropping a very good game without any PR (Tango Gameworks) then shutting them down, Fable is 7+ years in and still getting delayed, Everwild is god knows where.. and no leadership changes, the whole time.

You could literally put a monkey in charge who makes decisions with a magic 8-ball and they would, just by law of probability alone, do a better job than Phil.

Expected after seeing the outer worlds 2 getting a 2025 date.
Now to see if that Oblivion remake is even real and if Gears of War E day can make it.
How the hell can Gears E-Day make this year when People Can Fly have literally only just joined The Coalition as co-dev in January 2025? The reveal trailer was another ‘in-engine’ premature showing from Xbox. Game won’t hit until 2027 or later I can promise you that.

The timeline for this game is insane.

Studio was already reported on in 2017.

Recruitment was well underway by 2018 and the fact that the game was Fable was known.

We will be talking about a near 10 year long development from conception to the final product.

Game development is absolutely retarded.

For people saying they shouldnt have ended Lion head. That studio was nothing without Peter. I had the opportunity to play some of their works after he left & it was the right call. The things that's in Fable that we love is all because of him & how he cared about the connections the player had to the dog, world, choices, etc. That was all gone the moment he left that studio. I know people don't like him but he did put his heart into his those games. The studio died with his departure.

After Halo Infinite, Redfall, Hellblade II, Starfield, and Avowed does anyone care about MS published games anymore?
Redfall was shit, and Hellblade was ok for a one and done playthrough. Halo and Starfield were both good imo and i put over 80 hours into both, and i'm 35 hours into Avowed and loving it. Its even stopped me playing KCD2.

So yes i care.

I'm hoping the good/evil mechanic with physical appearance will play a part in the protagonists appearance. In a neutral good/evil state her looks are homely at best. The more good deeds she does the better looking she gets and the more evil she gets the uglier she gets until she just completely turns into a grotesque troll that not even a homless man would want to fuck.

And is still in bad shape

I don't believe this is an attempt to avoid GTA, its in deep doo doo

To be honest I never understood that devs are delaying a game because of another game incoming.

If you solely played JRPGs and not into games like GTA, it wouldn't affect sales if someone bought and supported a game outside of GTA. Different fanbases.

That's just me though on it.
