900 euros to play Bloodborne with a sharpening filter

Man I love modern gaming

That's obviously not the point of the system but that sharpening filter is a nice bonus actually :pie_roffles:

Honestly find the views weird.

Both for it and against it.

You don’t have to get the Pro. It is another option which is great.

No different to Mobile Phones or even GPUs.

Honestly some of the people leaving negative comments only tells me they want it but can’t afford it.

Price might be high, but the improvements are there. I think it will be more obvious next year when games comes out with pro enhancement
Enjoy the console my friend. I hope everyone here does. I personally have a high end computer and dont need it but for those who prefer framerate and dont want to invest in a computer I think its a good choice. That being said, I hope Sony improved PSSR because its still not on par with DLSS

I clicked on the Digital Trends video and skipped forward and the first thing I heard was:

"Dragon Age the Veilguard is just a bit crisper on the Pro, something I couldn't actually tell in the moment, but was fairly clear when I put footage side by side"

Holy shit. That does sound like it's worth £700.

Before anyone gets upset, yes, I know other games will get extra modes, etc, etc. I just thought it was funny that the first review detail I heard was "just a bit crisper"

Edit: holy shit, a different emoji from the forums most dedicated single emoji user. This is worse than I thought. I am praying for you.

I thought it was funny - yeah, we do too... 🤫

OT: Not that I need a review, but good to see them laying down what’s what.

Interesting reviews for sure. Kind of what I expected and I am one of those people that stop to look at the details in any game and will sit on my PC optimising settings for a while to hit a sweet spot.

Some existing games have had a great update but I'm looking forward to the games coming in the following years to see what the differences are. Also, being able to play GTAVI on release with the best available hardware at launch is an enticing prospect for me, even if it is just enhanced graphics and resolution at 30fps.

Good thread to see the new marching orders all in one place. I'm seeing some different ones so there could have been an isp outage somewhere in goblin-land
Nah there just over in the PS5 Pro Is Going To Change The Future Of Console Gaming. PSSR is Very Big Deal thread but I'm sure this one will be next.:messenger_winking:

Overall I like what I see I just hope I can buy one soon and not worry about having to wait cause of stock issues.

It actually is.
There's some interesting stuff stuck on PS4 that would be nice to see improved in any capacity. Killzone Shadow Fall, InFamous: Second Son and First Light, The Last Guardian disc version 60fps, Driveclub, The Order: 1886, RDR2 1.00, original Spider-Man etc.

They should have done what Illusion did, but this is still better than nothing.

Never seen a Dynamic Resolution counter before. DF should start doing that.

True.
Channel in general looks great, if 100% legit, even though it also has a 1080p resolution limit when capturing 120fps:

Tbf that's pretty much the average consumer's reaction to any face-off/upgrade, no matter which platforms/systems get compared (minus Switch).

You knew that a disclaimer in a spoiler wasn’t going to stop free banter.

Question lads :

I backed up my previous PS5 to a HDD.

Tomorrow I'll receive my Pro and I don't know exactly how to restore the data to it - is it something that can be done during the 1st start-up of the new console OR do i have to setup the new console first (log in to account, accept the terms etc etc) and THEN connect the HDD with the backup data and choose "restore" from the system menu ?

Thanks

That is actually a great idea. But in an age of TAA and upscalers, I doubt an automated program can do that in an accurate way.
For example, DF usually does their counting of pixels, during camera transitions, on the first frame, while the TAA or Temporal upscalers still haven't kicked in.

I think you need to log in, then can transfer off your HDD to internal SSD.

I can’t help get the feeling some people have false expectations of the pro, i wasn’t expecting a leap in graphics, yes some of the ray tracing and extra bells and whistles look nice but I jumped in wanting fidelity mode graphics at 60fps, and that’s exactly what it looks like I’m getting from these early reviews.

Yeah, shouldn't have, I can understand of course too why some would get rattled, nobody wants to see someone offering "a bit crisper" as the selling point for their new purchase. If I'd bought one, I'd want to hear the overwhelming positives - but I'm sure plenty will be happy to emphasise those. :)

It’s not an overwhelming positive console and nobody that is buying it is expecting that. That’s the base PS5. Great value for the money in 2020. The only ones that are expecting more from this expensive little bump are those eager to criticise it.

How does the Ps5 Pro apply the PSSR? Does it have a NPU or its done by the GPU?
