I'd have thought allowing everyone to use PS+ for 5 days for free would generate them a lot of money anyway. If a small % of those people stay on it would generate millions.

Back in 2011 it had bothered me a lot, because I was playing UC2 MP religiously with friends.
It's the reason Christophe Balestra added LAN mode in UC3 MP (he wrote the code himself) to be able to play it during downtimes:

One thing I remember about the 2011 hack was the big deal being made about Portal 2 on PS3 and everything it was doing.

Not sure how it sold but didn't help with the online side of it which is a lot of what they were promoting, as far as I remember.

I don't remember anything about it, but I remember this one:
It's a shame modern games no longer include LAN mode (only Nintendo offers it these days).
