Hah, i thought this was Psychocrasha but it hitted me, that was the guy who sent his kids up state to his grandparents, being in debt but still having multiple cars and the wife working for him a few hours a day for no income. And then a month later claims he is going on a trip to China.

Had an amazing PM with this guy, eventually he got ERA banned because it really was too much r/thathappened. Did his username proud.

Could also be a great GAF thread for the history books as it read like a typical GAF thread from back in the day.

There are members on that forum I quite like but 99% are constantly looking for a witchhunt.
Their most popular threads are often about social issues (and you know how those threads go)
They have discussion threads where they want no discussions.
There is of course a line to be drawn about respect to other members.

They weren't mature enough to have a conversation about the apparent "sexism" in Valkaria Chronicles 4.
I consider myself to be a left person, I'm actually a gay man with mostly gay friends but I find that forum absolutely embarrassing.

I remember trying to mention this in the Xbox ERA discord. Was immediately told to go fuck myself and that Evilore is a sex offender. All i did was say that the girl in the clip they so hated actually defends herself. Covered that extensively back in September.

Funny thing is that recently i took a look at that Discord since its the only ERA discord they somehow haven't axed me yet from after axing me randomly of all the others... 6 months after my site ban, and those folks that told me to go fuck myself and being completely immature are still there.

So i take it that ERA is a-okay with actual 9 year olds.

I feel like in the real world, they're fucked.

They wish they were. Then there would be something exciting going on in their life.

Hate drives postings. I have followed the first 7-8 pages and it was a crazy hate train. It felt like most would barely prefer him over Trump... It's sad to see for a forum that self-describes as a left leaning one .

I do not think this is entirely accurate, I have read a lot of love for Biden by a similar sample of users. Though it might play a role considering the competition, sure.

This is the worst thing. People I used to have nice discussions with will be afraid if myself or others post on their tweeter or discord pages for various topics. The RE police will force them either to block users or be harsh to them.

That forum digs deep into your personal life.

Intersectionality has very little in common with old school USA leftism. Era over time is purging itself of traditional leftists. Bernie is a traditional socialist so he sees the world through the prism of class and wealth. Intersectionalists see the world through the prism of race, gender, and sexuality almost exclusively.

Ever since that "This site isn't fun anymore" thread.....the more reasonable ERA members have gradually been leaving to find more "balanced" discussion boards.

You can't have such heavy handed moderation for very long, because you end up scaring off new members and members that don't share their far left agenda. People can only put up with walking on eggshells for so long.

NeoGAF did not collapse from overboarding moderation or anything, a large part of the community broke away for outside reasons. So how can NeoGAF serve as an indicator for Resetera's eventual downfall?

I don't consider high activity to be a sign of "thriving" when GAF was/is supposed to be a forum for adults with higher-than-average level of discourse. As I mentioned, a lot of that activity was dogpiling, one-line drive bys, shitposting, groupthink, and overall low-quality posting.

The dogpiling in particular -- something you've complained about regarding the post-split NeoGAF -- was rampant.

If you are banne duration pending, you still get a preliminary date, but they add something like "pending admin review" to your ban message. After review, the ban either stays unchanged, gets prolonged, or is made permanent.
