Correct me if I'm wrong, but this game (STALKER 2) has merged the playable areas from all previous games into a single combined world, right?

This fucking game... Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

Can't stop thinking about it, truly made such an interesting world, shame shame it has issues right now, but when it's fixed it's gonna be some legendary game.

I think i may have some bug, i have pack of dogs chasing me into unnatural places, for example in one of the first main missions you come to some warehouse to look for Squint, and the parking lot is full of dogs, so i thought i will go around as there is no benefit to killing monsters, no loot and xp, good i'm into the building and have to kill some bandits, as soon as i shoot one shot.. all those dogs come inside to building and only attack me, had to reload a save and kill those fuckers before i enter the building.
later in this quest, you meet npc on some windmill, have you find him something.. nice.. killed all enemies around.. get back to him.. the second i hand him the goods.. a pack of 6-7 dogs comes inside the windmill and climb the stairs and attack me, only me not the npc.. crazy shit like wft, this can't be intentional.. ran away like baby, now i understand the meme eat the dogs!

This true? As close to a New Vegas 2 as we are going to get.
Sold me on the game tbh.

100% true. Both have death squads chasing you. The only difference NV has them what? once an hour? maybe even not that.. Stalker 2 has them every 100 meters :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Hey guys, I'm starting to see npc's roaming on quests, or killing monsters on their nests, returning to town after and that kind of stuff, it seems that Alife is somehow working on Xbox?. I've yet to see npc's retrieving artifacts or selling or that kind of stuff.

From what I've played so far, it sure looks like it with some additions (for example I don't remember the area from the prologue and the road leading to the first camp you'll start the game proper from). I can already see Red Forest from Call of Pripyat and Pripyat itself, but can't find sprawling swamp area (or at least recognize it on the map) from Clear Sky and my memories of the very first game past the very first few locations (which were very small and behind loading screens) are vague at best. I do remember a second camp closer to the Chernobyl's reactor and stuff... but I can't find these locations on the map. The thing is, original maps from the first game were very compact and small so maybe they reworked them a lot and rearranged some things. I haven't played Anomaly and other mods with all the maps cuz you can't replay original story campaigns that way, so I can't make a direct comparison to that as well. That said, I will instantly remember locations from previous games when I find them cuz I've played and finised these games way too many times back in the day, except maybe Clear Sky.

The packs of boars are really fucking annoying. The dogs I can tolerate, but getting knocked over repeatedly by these fat bitches is too much.

I just can’t deal with any of the fast moving enemies. They just move so erratic and unpredictable. And those stupid dogs spawn all around you so you can’t outmanoeuvre them in most cases.

A lot of mutants need an overhaul in my opinion.

I've seen a few cases of a group of STALKERS fighting enemies in the world.

But holy shit the partner AI damage is like set to 0.1x multiplier. I've seen them shooting those little rat enemies point blank in the face with shotgun shells and it takes them 20, 30 shots to kill one.

Was very excited when i saw the trailers when fighting enemies like dogs, also reading that previous games has psi dog that can project himself or something like that. In reality? probably the most sucks part to me is those fucking dogs, no fun at all, there was an area full with rats, same issue.

Idk what happened but i was playing fine before and today I can't get anywhere without crashes. Trying to do the main objective in town and FPS drops to like 4 then crashes, tried to grab a side objective and same thing. This is killing my vibe, i'm on a 7800x3d/4080S/64gb RAM.
Updated to the latest driver and I’ve been smooth sailing performance wise . Even in town I’m not getting the FPS drops to single digits

I just did a side mission where we hunted a mutant deer, but the game continuously spawned boars, dogs, and rats as well. And because the game makes little effort to hide spawns, they would often spawn DIRECTLY on me... it was a nightmare lol

I am sure the devs are listening and will try their best to implement feedback.

From what I read here are the top priorities outside of bug fixing/ controller dead zones

1) enhance / implement A-Life (dont think we should have high hopes on this one)
2) add dynamic shadows (at least for player torch)
3) adjust AI combat behavior of mutants
4) tweak economy of repair/ upgrade costs

Any thing else ?

Night vision googles and binoculars are missing too

On console there is a stick drift that should be fixed.

If by 1 you mean that enemies won't chase you out of thin air then i agree, there's shouldn't be death squads in the game.

there are also some less urgent things like melee hitting boxes barely works and you need to switch to your knife to hit them properly.

Yes, all the areas from past Stalker games: Shadow of chernobyl, clear sky and call of prypiat are in the game, expanded, plus some new areas.

No I don't mean encounters, what I mean is that I have seen npc's travelling the world, I decided to follow one of these groups and they end up arriving to safe places, patrolling, or resting by a campfire, that's what Alife was about, but as I said, I've yet to see npc's retrieve artifacts, looting corpses or that kind of stuff.

Controller support needs to be majorly reworked.

I don't get it. If you're implying a 3080 shouldn't be expected to do 4k, then why does it hold 60fps but drop to single digits when entering new areas/cutscenes?

Seems like an optimization and not a GPU problem.
That sounds like your VRAM is full and it’s trying to swap in textures from ram when the new assets load in, causing massive dips. Do you have the 10gb model?

Yep, and I think you're right. But I'm also thinking it could be optimized to where it doesn't tank framerate to single digits. I don't have this problem with other games.

Going to try again today. For those not experiencing lots of crashes can you share settings you’re using?

Also, do you know how much gpu/cpu the game is using?

Earlier people said my 3080 doing 4k, epic settings, dlss quality, and frame gen may make the game work at 60fps but it’s over abusing the card to make it crash? Never had this happen. Even with RE4 remake for example, I can max it and hold 60fps even with 12GB used for textures or whatever.

So should I do something like either:
1080P, epic settings, dlss quality no frame gen?

Or 1440P mix of high/medium settings, dlss quality, and frame gen?

I want to not have to reload the game a ton of times with the stupid shader compiling.

Has anybody had random things spawn in your inventory?

It just happened to me for the second time (definitely not complaining by any means) where I will just be walking somewhere and suddenly I'm overweight and I check the inventory and there's things in there all of a sudden. This last time it spawned two M860s which were both red quality so I dropped both of them, but the first time I just walked into a building and suddenly I had 3 Mk1 EMRs (M14) one of which was yellow and two reds.

Also just finished the mission
are at SIRCAA and have to choose to side with either Strider or Dalin
and that was a very cool sequence and I ended up with so much gear as I found 2 suits (both of which are worse in most ways then my SEVA suit I've been using for 10 or so hours) and a special Tavor. Found a AS Val as which which is one of my favorite guns of all time.

When Stalker 2 takes place? between the first 3 games or after them? Sidorovich looks exactly the same, hasnt aged at all :D
It's after call of pripyat because in Zaton, Sultan
took the Skadovski from Beard who now is on the other ship, Shevchenko. And Beard tells it happened 7 years ago. So it's at least 7 years after CoP.

There are some legit survival horror type missions in this game. I know the franchise's broad history but I wasn't expecting it to go this hard.

Yes. I was walking and out of nowhere my AR416 switched to a M14. The AR416 was in my inventory.

I had a bunch of crashes initially, but haven't had one in the past 10 hours now. Unfortunately, I don't know what worked because I tried a bunch of stuff. Heres a list:

Deleted a "shipping" .exe then repaired game files
Dropped different graphics settings down
Dropped rez down
Installed latest Nvidia drivers
Rebooted PC

I also am using a 3080.

Lesser Zone consequences for helping a guy who want help bringing his brother out an anomaly.

Is there any longterm upside to be a nice guy there?

First time I brought the brother back without looting. Got some money and we had a drink and I got a new friend I could call, or so he said.

Second time I looted the dead brother. Got a goldfish artifact. Angry brother.

Third time I brought back the brother and got the money, then tried looting the body afterwards. Firefight.

I guess I want to know if the goldfish is good enough that it’s worth being a douche bag over it?

Let those fuckers clear camps for you. They can't deal with them too. It's satisfiying.

5 hours in and I can't wait to play more tomorrow. This is going great. I haven’t encountered any major bugs yet, but I’m scared—it feels like one of those old games prone to breaking, like, Bethesda games...

Is there a way to nullify the radiation poisoning of artifacts? Doesn't seem worth equipping if its continually making me sick.

You gotta drink alcohol non stop I guess.

I, personally, haven't encountered any artifacts that lower radiation so, like you, I've never had any artifact that has - Rad equipped.

My main one is the cricket ball that you can get near the expanding and contracting anomaly near the first settlement. It reduces the gunfire damage you take when still, has been pretty effective.

Pretty sure the artifact drops are RNG.

Fuck that craig looking mutant fuck.

I haven't seen anything this irritating in a long time, like holy shit...

This game is a fun ride, but I took a break until a major update.

I don't mind bloodsuckers, dogs and psy-dogs or snorks but the boars and fleshes are bullshit. The rats are kinda funny.
Love the grenade mechanics. Rolling them is fun. You can do some major action movie gun-fu in this game.

At this point, my greatest enemy is the ray tracing. I can't see shit. Needs more rays!
