So, an update from my current work on beating all the Sega Genesis and its add-ons games:
Beaten:
Dynamite Duke: A solid little action on-rails shooter like the NES Punisher and many light-gun games of that era, except without the light-gun. Not super-challenging, but it was a fun half-hour, even if was super repetitive.
Fire Shark: Again, bare-bones, but a fun top-down shooter. There are only a few different types of power-ups, but they upgrade about 4 times, and they get intense when you get them up to full power. However, the game has a really weird, random ending that's worth seeing.
Working On:
Dick Tracy: Man, this game could be amazing, if there wasn't the poor "no guns" sections. The game's main mechanic of dealing with enemies in the fore and background is really cool, and has some awesome boss encounters. However, when you are just at your fist, the hit detection is quite poor, and later levels get really cheap with enemies.
Landstalker: Initial reactions were poor (the isometric view is just really frustrating, even if it makes the game look really nice), but slowly, I've adjusted to it, and its been getting better. I've enjoyed my first 2 dungeons, the story is good, and the music is excellent. Still, having to pick-up and place items in order to use them to save, buy items, and stay at the inn is just annoying, and takes more work then just having a menu.
