I loved the Genesis/SNES era.
(Maybe) Good news everyone! I will be filming my Sega panel tomorrow, so you can all laugh at me and judge me when i didn't include game X!
I found Wonder Boy in the trade shop yesterday! Since I had a bunch of trade in credit, I paid $0.00 for it.
I was on a charity shop browse yesterday, and I managed to pick up Earthworm Jim special edition for the Mega CD, and EWJ2 for the Saturn for a grand total of £2.50.
Are you guys going to talk about Alien Soldier? You guys should talk about Alien Soldier.
you both got awesome games for a stupid-good price, congrats!
*sigh* passed on a good repro cart of this one for $25 shipped on ebay, hoping it comes back up again when ive got money post holiday, its high on my list
Why haven't I subscribed to this thread yet? And I call myself a Sega fan...
I shall post pics of my Sega Genesis collection soon. It's not very huge, but I plan on to build it!
its small but you got a lot've the greats man! i too tracked down a repro of MM: WW but ended up laying Battle Mania 2 mostly instead, haha.
for me id have to add Strider, Rolling Thunder 2/3, and some Renovation stuff (El Viento, Valis III) etc if that's your thing...how do you feel bout SHMUPs?
I should look into those! And thanks for the reply!
SHMUPs are really great but I always overlook them for some reason. Feel free to suggest them!
I constantly hear about Thunder Force IV, I shall check that out definitely! Is it cheap complete in box? (20 dollars or below is what I consider cheap)
Comix Zone has to be a repro case because that was carboard-only too (a CD won't fit in a Genesis clamshell case anyway)Excuse the crappy quality (used my tablet's camera)
Things to note:
-Sonic & Knuckles has a case w/ custom cover because the game only came with cardboard box.
-Mega Man Wily Wars is a reproduction cartridge w/ custom case. The game never release in physical form in America.
-I don't actually own Ristar yet, but I will in the future. There is a game in the case however and it's Sonic Classics 3 in 1 (which includes Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine!)
Feel free to suggest games, I'm really open to them! I already want Castlevania Bloodlines, Contra Hardcorps, Dynamite Headdy and Ristar.
And I call myself a Sega fan...
Sol-Deace is pretty cool. Its got a Sega CD version called Sol-Feace, but imo the genesis version has better music:
Stage 1
Stage 2
Interesting arm mechanic that sorta reminds me of Einhander.
Other greats are:
Thunder Force 3
Gleylancer
Lightening Force (Thunder Force IV)
Elemental Master
Phelios
Gaiares
You've got some pretty good stuff as is. I'd also recommend Dynamite Headdy, Contra Hard Corps, Streets of Rage 2, Shining Force 2, and Castlevania Bloodlines.

Yes how about that...?
Edit: Oh and you need some Vectorman [Not the second one. Just stick with the first one], Shinobi, Earthworm Jim, some good ol' Disney licensed games, and Streets of Rage. Nice starter collection BTW
I repped hard for sol-feace in the SNES Vs. Genesis thread. the sega CD version has one of the absolute best shooter scores.

Out side of the killer soundtrack, I think Vectorman is pretty lame tbh.
And what the hell at the unskippable title screen sequence. That infuriates me to an absurd level.
such an awesome pack-in, that. i was blown away by what Silpheed managed on sega-CD (diehard gamefan had this amazing spread on it!) but still returned to Sol-Feace more.
What is so impressive about Silpheed exactly? Isn't it sprites on top of a streaming video backdrop? I don't think there are any polygons in it.

Quick question, what's the best way to hook a Mega Drive up to a CRT?
I've currently got it hooked up with the included aerial wire and a sort of splitter that's ages old and can split between TV, VHS, and Game, and the picture looks good, but I'm finding it hard to find a good place to put it so that it doesn't keep losing signal/getting all fuzzy.I'm sure there are technical terms for this,

Well, you do in fact have it hooked up in the worst possible way, so anything else would be an improvement.
Best is RGB through scart [component conversion if necessary].
Composite while running audio out from the front headphone jack, is generally the most effective way to go.
For absolutely ridiculous quality, you can actually buy a genesis scart adapter and then convert that to a component cable and get an unbelievable picture out of it.
Oh, good call! You're right.Comix Zone has to be a repro case because that was carboard-only too (a CD won't fit in a Genesis clamshell case anyway)

Shinobi 3's music is amazing enough that it'll be the first thing I pick up.Streets of Rage trilogy is a must have.
I always enjoyed Battletoads, Lion King, and Revenge of Shinobi. Shinobi 3 is great, too.
I've played it before on that Sonic collection for Gamecube or something. It's sooo tough but I remember enjoying it a bit. I might get it.Vectorman is one of the most controversial Genesis games in terms of how much opinions vary. There is no consensus.
If your TV doesn't have component, then the best you can do (without modding the console for S-Video) is composite. It's not great. It'll probably be better than RF, though.
And no, the Model 2 Genesis doesn't have a headphone jack. That's only on the Model 1s, and is the only way to get stereo out of an unmodded console; the jack in the back of the Model 1 only does mono. Model 2 does stereo out of the port in the back natively, so no worries.

Victorian is great. Screw the haters. Sequel is not as good though.

you can feel what you want for vectorman but as long as were all in agreement that decap attack is a must all will be fine
Vectorman kicks ass, what's wrong with you haters?![]()

Is this general consensus of this game? 'Cause that's news to 11 year old me. If it is, I guess it'll be to me what Shenmue is to Ninja. Haha!

that autocorrect... lol
Vectorman is one of the coolest, most fun action-platformers of the generation. Absolutely fantastic game, and one of the best games the Genesis had in its later years!
In comparison, DecapAttack is so sleep-inducingly boring that I would not recommend it to anyone except for the most diehard Psycho Fox (SMS) or Kid Kool (NES) fans, since the game plays like those two games do (same developers I think?)... but seriously, just play Psycho Fox again, it's not nearly as bad as DecapAttack is. At least it IS better than Kid Kool, but that's not saying very much.
