Steam sales these days are only really useful and/or interesting for niche games that are hard to find on other stores and have the same price.

There are plenty of those though and you don't give up the ability to refund. Also, a lot of times the other stores prices will adjust down to compete so still a good time to look for deals.

Not all games are available to be bought on 3rd party websites (some indie titles).

Also, some games are actually cheaper on Steam during sales (some visual novels, very niche Japanese titles, etc).

EDIT: But yeah, if it's available on key sites, it will be cheaper there most of the times.

I hope for something good but ever since getting the Steam Deck and actually following these sales, I realize its the same discount 99% of the time. Its never a surprise like last sale was $25 but this sale its a $10 game. It will be $25 for next 10 years lol.
