The episode itself made it pretty clear that Taihei loves his sister in a normal, non-weird way. He gives her what she wants a lot due to a combination of being a push-over and also because she's also a manipulative asshole.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't watch Gintama for the mise en scene. For me, it's another show that could probably work as an audio drama for me and I'd probably still love it. lol

Yeah. There are serious shonen arcs and emotional arcs/episodes in there.

Assuming this is a serious/heartfelt episode then yes. There are a decent amount but remember that when it comes to Gintama serious arcs they are quality over quantity. The show is still 95% comedy but when it has a serious episode it is easily top tier shonen action.
Oh boy you haven't seen anything yet. It gets better and sadder later on.

It was out of no where, joking about some girl looking like a ham.
To a flash back of Gin and all his friends he lost. And this was following the episode where he promised to protect Otose.
I told myself I was going to nap, I'm hooked.

There's an entire arc dedicated to Otose and Gintoki. IMHO it is the best arc of the series.
No wonder you keep wanting to make the anime OTs and I keep getting complaints about them in IRC.

Well it's great you are enjoying it. I didn't enjoy it until episode 24/25, the hot pot episode.
But don't expect a lot of Gin backstory anytime soon.

SNAFU S1 & 2 Final Thoughts
Hey I'm hooked. The comedy isn't overbearing and the straight man/deadpan of Hikki never got tiresome for me. I won't say every character is great, but many of them started as one thing and ended up getting some depth to them that made them completely interesting. ie Hayato. Of course the highlight of the show is Hikki, he makes for a fantastic lead. I also appreciated that the little sister, while still animefied, was easily one of the better sisters in a male lead anime. If I can't have Hyouka this is an ok replacement of brooding antisocial interesting lead who has a certain genius to him.
Which reminds me I need to rewatch Hyouka soon it's been a while.

Well thats true! But DFrag doesnt feel generic in general. It has a very discernible unique charm to it, probably cause its kind of strange.

Regarding Tokyo Ghoul, my coworker seems to really enjoy it. When he has some spare time at work hes watching it. Something about it cant be too bad I think.
You very well might be right! I do have limited exposure to this seasons OP's at this point but it will be difficult to beat!

It's tough to rank my favorite arcs but I think I'll go with this one. The Shogun invasion one was amazing as well as the Kintama one.

The adaption of the manga feels good enough for me. Maybe the scene with Alex and Barry could have been handled with a bit more emphasis, but I loved watching it and the following action as much as I did when reading the manga.
Nicholas and Worick are great, but Alex is still my favorite.
Also, great OP, but I'm not a fan of the ED. I prefer animated stuff instead of still images with some pan over.
