Yeah. I’m really digging the design overall. It’s basically the Switch 1, only refined in every way.

The black with colored analog rims is what gets me.

I’ve been sick of the pastel colors of the og switch for years already (i highly preferred the gray joycons and the white oled)
I’m really feeling it. In theory, I like the fun, colored joycons, but in practice they end up looking bad and toy-like over time.

I feel like Nintendo’s approach here is the best of both worlds. We get a little bit of color to make things pop and look fun, but it’s not so much that we’ll get sick of it.

Definitely looks slick. Way nicer than the Switch 1 at the very least.

Curious to see if black will be the only SKU option.

I don't give too much of a fuck about how it looks, but I do think it looks better than the OG Switch. I will play it docked while my kids play it in handheld mode.

By the way, that second image isn’t an official render. Just thought I’d point that out since this thread is specifically about its visual design.

It honestly reminds me of going from the xbox 360 buttons to the xbox one buttons (the color reversal, instead of candy buttons, we got black buttons with colored lettering)

The colors are more subtle but frankly i prefer that

Design wise it looks great.
Looks sleeker and less toy-like than the OG Switch, and way less bulky than some of the portable Pc's (though it's probably not going to be as powerful either)

Switch 2 is a 10th gen and will be competing against the Xbox Next and PS6.
Switch is 8th gen, which makes the 2 a ninth gen, and itll be directly competing against the current ps5 and series x

We likely wont see the start of gen 10 for another 3 years

Switch 1 is 9th gen, which makes the Switch 2 a 10th gen. The next Xbox is rumored next year, and PS6 will most likely be 2027 (based on history). 8th gen was Xbox One, PS4 and Wii-U. 7th gen was Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

Looks kind of annoymous to me. Like any one of the recent PC handhelds and not too much different to switch.

But that's probably a good move from Nintendo. Try not to aim too kiddie, not to take risks like they did with Wii U so in a way I'm relieved rather than inspired by it.

But I feel like the big 2 on the dock is in many ways both what is right and wrong. If it wasn't for the logo you may forgiven for assuming it's a switch 1! But then again, switch 1 was loved so it's not a bad outcome.

To me It’s kinda just bigger version of original Switch but looks doesn’t matter, all I care about is the games.

The switch is recognized as an 8th gen system

The wii u and switch are both considered 8th gen to be specific as the Wii u started 8th gen but due to its failings Nintendo swapped it out for the switch in less than 5 years of its launch.

It directly competed against the ps4 and xbox one for three years (even though it felt more like four since the ps5 and xsx were practically non-existent for the first year)

I don't like how it looks too much, but I don't care, it's always gonna be docked anyway. I just hope there's a more colorful version because I always loved the Switch Neon version, I love how it looks in my living room

The Switch and Wii U can’t be both the same generation by logic…

The switch is a mid 8th gen replacement for the failed Wii U.
Two systems in the same generation like the Sega Genesis and Sega CD are both 4th gen consoles.
Nintendo confirmed it was a next gen console, not a mid gen. It's also being tracked in sales as a 9th console. Nintendo started gen 9, and PS/Xbox were late to the party.

The Switch was declared the next gen system after the Wii-U by Nintendo.

Yes, it was the direct successor to the wii u but both are considered 8th gen

the wii u didnt have a full life-span compared to the others due to its poor sales, the switch was sort of nintendo on panic mode

Being the only “ninth” gen console for 3 years is a bit of stretch.

Wat?

The Sega genesis and SNES were tracked in sales along side the PSX and Saturn until about 1998 or 99 that didn't make them 5th gen consoles

The switch is an 8th gen console being sold alongside 9th gen systems because it released mid 8th gen

PS/Xbox weren't "late" they were the party

Yeah I'm impressed with the design as well. Looks like they've learned from the Switch's mistakes in regards to connecting the JoyCons etc.

Just gotta hope the internals/specs are good as well.

I think some will find it boring, but this is exactly what I wanted. I like a console I can just tuck in some corner under my tv that draws little attention.
