Switch 2 beautiful??

I always forget the Switch doesn't have a dpad because of the accursed joycons. The color and style of Switch 2 is cool.

Yeah it looks nice but if it’s not OLED (it’s not) then it’s a bummer.

Also, I prefer smaller handhelds. Even the Oled is a bit too big for me.

So the dream is a Switch Lite 2 with an OLED screen that’ll probably never come along.

The dock on this one I don’t like though. Rounded corners against the sharp corners of the console tablet, looks odd to me.

No, beauty peaked here…

The switch is a mid 8th gen replacement for the failed Wii U.
Two systems in the same generation like the Sega Genesis and Sega CD are both 4th gen consoles.

Not many N systems last much longer than 5 years so I'm not sure I'd say they replaced it "early". They languished supporting it with software that whole time to complete a perceived "generation cycle" as not to pull any SEGAs in the eyes of customers (NEVER pull a Sega)

Thanks for polling the world 👍
Why the hell would the world care about which gen Nintendo thinks the Switch is? The multiplats are either nonexistent or run like shit. And that's what the world cares about, games, not hardware, go poll the world yourself, you finna find out.

IMHO, it looks pretty refined on official render. The curvature of joycon - I first didn't like it, but I think with its functionality of being a mouse, I think it makes sense.
I'm sure 3rd party devs will come up with mouse attachment for the joycon that would enhance the friction and grip?

Handheld mode is so bad with the Switch, and probably with this iteration too from what it looks like.
I've never seen anyone anywere with one in public transports, give us back the 3DS/Vita ergonomics !
Appart from that, I hope it'll be powerfull enough not to make my eyes bleed too much on a 4k TV...

This thread is the definition of Nintendo blind lol, the switch literally looks like most other hand helds on the market with a slight twist. Yeah the system looks okay but...... beautiful? Nah missed me with that one.

Prefer the look of the OG switch tbh. Its instant recognisable with the blue and red side joycons. This does look sleek though.

I wasn't expecting to take note of the design one way or the other, given that it was basically a retread of the original, but the Switch 2 actually looks really good. The straight black with the original Switch's red and blue relegated to accents gives it a more serious look.

I haven't liked any of Nintendo's designs since, the DS Lite maybe? I generally liked their 90's aesthetics, but haven't much since. Happy to be pleasantly surprised for a change.

The ergonomics, as usual, look atrocious.

I don’t know how anyone plays this in handheld mode

I personally use it for games that require the button inputs of a SNES or GB game. Tactics games, platformers, Vampire Survivors, things that avoid very heavy use of shoulder buttons. I can attach real controller joycons but if the game is serious enough to need those, I probably would rather wait to play it on TV anyway and play something else.

Beautiful? Hardly. Slick? Eh... sure. Overall though, not very exciting. The market is now saturated with screens with controllers on its sides. As an iteration to the OG Switch, I like it very much.

It's inoffensive and pleasant to look at. Would still be nice to get rid of the garrish orange off that thing. Sexy? no, but a nice step up from the Switch 1.

There’s been effort to make the second screen look better and it’s the best looking it’s like an artist made it, easily better looking than even the steam deck or rog.

While I do like the thinner bezels and form factor way more than the first Switch and the Steam Deck, I have to say I do miss when portables use to be pocket sized. I always go back to references like these:

And the vita used to be on the larger side when it came to fitting it in a pocket. I think unfortunately most audiences have spoken in that they just want everything tablet sized.
If displays ever stop being dependent on the size of the device, this could switch back for both gaming devices and phones. Maybe, if AR screens become mainstream...

The Switch 2 is inoffensive, plain and boring.

The sorta thing you would expect from a company that has alternated between gangbuster success and abysmal failure for the last 5 generations. Nintendo is playing it safe.

It's a black rectangle with some controllers stuck on the ends.
I am just as nonplussed as when people get all excited about how a new phone looks, even though they are all just black rectangles.

Looks much nicer than I envisioned when we were first hearing about the blue and the orange. The subtle splashes of color under the joysticks with the bold bars that only show up in portable mode is kind of brilliant.

I'm a little worried about the sticky outy bits that the joycon connect to.

All in all, how aesthetic can a tablet with controllers be? And how much does it matter? Steam Deck is super ugly, but it's also super comfy.

It's an improvement from the og switch but not by much. I'll wait for the inevitable special edition they release that first catches my eye.

What if Nintendo uses Nintendo Switch as a second screen or an accessory for Switch 2???

They would be geniuses and in that way, they would leave Ps2 in the background and Nintendo switch would be the best-selling console in history.

I do think that it's kinda like a DS to DSlite evolution in terms of industrial design. But I need to hold it in my hands in order to make a final judgment.

Ultimately, however, the console itself, just like any other console, is uninteresting in the long run. It's about the games.

I was going to say "nah, you have to go big" and then post a Lynx... but I realize it's smaller than the Deck :D

Nevertheless, yeah, the Switch 2 looks very sleek, and the Wii is still sexy.

Just looks boring tbh. I don't care, but if you told me this was a generic android gaming tablet from Ali Express, I would have accepted it.

Meh, it looks less bulky than others handheld these days, but I don't like how it's only colorful on the "insides". Looks like unfinished amateurish paint job

It’s what the switch should have been form wise.

Well I know the OLED has a great kickstand. But I still have my OG switch.

It’s a nice bit of equipment Switch 2. It’s a good mix of for adults and kids. I’m sure with time. New colour variations will arise. But yeah I really like it.

I like how it looks except for the baby blue/salmon-colored parts of the joycons, hopefully there's a uniform-colored SKU available. Should've just done the RGB LED sticks we see on a bunch of controllers these days if they wanted to add some flair, could be used to gameplay purposes too.
