The Assassin's Creed Shadows team has a message for our Japanese community

I love how different is Japanese people reception for this vs. GoT (they loved it).

Instead of focusing on Japanese world of 15xx A.D. Ubisoft wanted to smuggle current day politics and problems into this. Great job!

UBI- "So, we've made the Japanese pretty angry, but I don't think it's enough, we need to raise the temperature. This will increase sales in Japan, people will start buying the game purely out of hatred"

I have no other explanation for what's happening...

Didn't know which thread to bump, but it looks like Ubi just cancelled their TGS presentation.

Smart move, though cowardly. If they were planning on talking about Shadows at TGS they would get absolutely BODIED.

They did such a terrible job lol I still remember them using a katana from One Piece to promote the game
It's like every thing they do they manage to offend the community more. I can only imagine the more intelligent higher ups at Ubi seeing the news and going

You know, I think there is a way they can rescue this in the four odd months they have given themselves.

Cut out Yasuke and either get rid of or change the enemies he was needed for.

Naoe is fine. All the other games only had a single playable protagonist and they were at least nominally stealthy assassins, not warriors. Though maybe use a female name, lol.

Then also cut out all the stuff they didn't have permission to use, the culturally insensitive shit, and get details right like how to hold a brush and the seasons.

If they really wanted to sell the game, they could give Naoe a glowup, and make her a kunoichi. As far as I know, the only game that ever properly tried this was

So there's lots of themes/plot lines to explore there. But that's probably way too much work at this point.

Ubisoft is run by blue hairs now. They'd never do this.

If they wanted Ninja Assassin games they have plenty to choose from IMO for inspiration. Not sure why AC with a Ninja focus needs a Samurai. Though I think how things are depicted very much are the problem.

The controversies about AC Shadows would be nothing compared to the mess they would get into if the game was set in China.
If they were to make the game in China Ubi would be very respectful and bend over backwards. Remember that Rainbow Six fiasco?

And isn't Tencent a part owner? Ubi only does this shit to countries that they know won't say anything or they can ignore.

While I agree, what does that have to do with finding it more interesting?

Sure, I agree with that. Just pointing out how difficult that would be.

Bingo. It's not a Ubi thing but something akin to the liberal way of thinking. They shit only on countries or ideologies that don't fight back. We see that when criticizing "religions" (meaning: Christianism).

Despicable cowards.

just cancel the game. delay wont change anything.

everything is too late. the controversy they caused is not something that people can easily forget with time.

shit already burned.
