The PlayStation 5 Is Starting to Look Like the Revolution It Promised

Lol what's the hype with this quick resume I always see. Is it because you have nothing else to mention?

I used it on Outriders and Division 2 because that's what I'm playing right now on my Series X. They both kicked me out of the game so it's useless there. I used it again on Resident Evil 7 and it fucked my stats on my save without me noticing. It says I was playing the game for over 30 hours so I was locked out of the achievement and the saw weapon because of it. Fail. I'll just quit the game instead.

I don't get the hype. Maybe because Xbox games are always so slow to load? I don't know why. It's not an issue on PS5.
well quick resume not really gonna work on an always online shooter. The way those games are structured.
and ofc ppl luv it and talk about it all the time, because u can jump back into a game in 6 seconds. U could be driving in GTA V, switch to Assassins Creed....and when switch back over to GTA again one day... are back in that car ready to go

u kno damn well PS5/xbox series x load times are nearly the same.

Right now the only thing that seems revolutionary to me from the PS5 side is the controller. For now I've played Miles Morales and Returnal on PS5, and the way Returnal devs have used the controller to give feedback is soo good. Loading times are great and all that stuff, but but nothing that would make it a market breaker...for now.
There's still a lot of potential.

You can get you panties in a wad all you want, but it's the truth. There isn't a "killer app" for either of the next-gen consoles that scream must have. There just plain isn't. Even 6 mos. into launch there still isn't anything. It has a ton of potential and some great prospects on the horizon, but as it stands now, the best things to play on the system are all exclusives from the previous gen.

I'm sorry that hurts your feelings in justifying your purchase of silicon, but it is what it is. I'm not an "enemy" here, I'll get a PS5 eventually, but only when it finally builds a library that makes a purchase worth it. I'll call it like I see it, I've been one to champion R&C as a great looking game, I'm just not rushing out to boot lick Sony(or MSFT) for finally putting out a single title that looks good and starting to utilize the features of the PS5.

Some of you are so high on your own farts that you refuse to acknowledge the truth of the situation and love to label anyone that disagrees with your obviously biased opinions as "garbage." Get over yourself dude.
Its the truth if you're a teenager who needs to save their minimum wage earnings. Otherwise, its the stupidest thing i've ever read. "Don't buy next gen console rn. The ten amazing games, evolutionary haptic controller, upgraded ps4 games w almost all of them at minimum doubling frame rate, etc. isn't worth it" Like do you hear yourself? lmfaooo

Lol this thread…

Those that have PS5 - “no revolutionary games yet … nothing but PS4 rehashes”…

Those that don’t - “great article! Future is bright! Look at how far PS5 has come in 6 months!”…

Seriously peeps - I’m all for supporting your favorite console - but the available games aren’t “revolutionary” … yet. (For either console)

Though I admit I haven’t played Returnal yet - and R&C hasn’t been released - so perhaps there’s some hope there …
Another guy not reading the article. Making assumptions off the headline and off whatever posts you've browsed that led you to this weird post.

The article is about more than games. The games part is inarguable, no console is even close to having the exclusives PS does.

Ahh...The you must be poor argument....Got it....Have fun with the 3 sweet "REVOLUTIONARY" games that have come out in the last 6 mos. Not even sure how you have time to post on GAF when you are FLOODED with so many sweet rev0lutionary games to play that ALL take advantage of it's revolution@ry haptic feedback or R3volutionary SSD.

It's not a matter of money or even taking sides. It's just a plain fact that it's got less than a handful of games that even take advantage of the hardware. You can scream and justify until you are blue in the face. The fact you are so defensive is hilarious and childish at best. Won't change the facts.

Yeah its a good argument when you're literally trying to tell ppl not to buy ps5 cause "nOt eNuFf gAmEs". No one but ppl who need the money are gonna use such a shit excuse to pass on it rn if they find it available.

You keep defending this absolute trash too. Enjoy waiting for there to be 20 games out I guess, since thats only thing you claim to care about lmao.

there wasn't a worthwhile "next gen" game on ps4/xbox one for the first damn near 3 years after they launched...that didn't stop ppl from buying them. Why should it stop them now. I got PS5 and Series X already. Not because of the new games or PS5's gimmicky controller. But just to play what i was already playing, but better

I just want games that make a system worth having. I can play 90% of the games on my PC at better performance and higher framerates with mods and trainers if I want. There's no point in buying a PS5 for what....cross-gen Spiderman or DemonSouls.... I mean...they are good games, I enjoyed them the first time I played them years ago... Slapping a new coat of paint on them won't change what made them good or revolutionize the industry. Returnal looks fun, R&C looks stunning. That's 2 games that someone could sink some time into.. 2....Astro's Playroom is good for a one-time walk down memory lane...I mean, they aren't doing anything groundbreaking at the moment. And again, everything else is multiplat and can be played better on PC. I'm not against PS5, glad to see the next-generation start, but if the best games of "next-generation" are all older games from the previous generation but played at higher framerates and resolutions, it's not exactly pushing the "revolution" narrative forward is it?

Which I can do on PC. While waiting for either system to be worth owning. It's not a hard concept to understand why it's so easy to wait.

I know some of you just want an echo chamber and butt-slaps praising Sony/MSFT. I'm just not gonna be the one to ignore the truth. Have fun in Wonderland.

No. Just no. As much as I like my PS5 but that is ridiculous.

It definitely seems to be more of an evolution than previous generations for what it's worth, and the loading speeds count for a lot. I've seen how quickly RE5 goes from the title screen to the game, and that's not something to shrug off.

It might not strictly be doing anything new per se, but it's doing everything as well as if not better than the other consoles and I wouldn't mind having one.

Shame it's the size of a small country, though.

Until you have one and use the dual sense and have no load times when you die in returnal and in demons souls and in Ratchet then there's nothing to talk about with you. If none of that impresses you or makes you want to own a console because of these new experiences in how you can play your games than you were never interested in the system to begin with.

Everything everyone here, on sites, youtube are talking about with fever are what a lot of people who waited for loading, or fast travel screens have been waiting for. And seeing what they have promised since the first ad, is what people are excited about.
Ratchet shows in a physical way all the things that PS5 has been advertised as. Returnal showed us in a more meaningful way than Miles how to use haptics, along with the 3D audio.

It all depends on you, and what you like to be brutally honest. Once I played Astrobot I was sold on the controller. Once I played Miles and saw no load times and the whole world loaded as I transitioned from inside a building it sold me on the SSD because of my experience with original spiderman game.
Now after going back and playing days gone and seeing lengthy load screens its hard to go back to be honest. Like I replayed god of war in 4k and it was awesome. But what wasn't awesome was all the transition tricks being used to hide loading.

RATCHET is truly showing what a game built from the ground up on PS5 can be. And if to you thats not impressive, then thats fine. But dont be surprised by everyone who is swooning over it. Because on a technical level it is truly impressive.

I've been using SSD's for the last 12 years or so, not exactly revolutionary having short load times for me, it's great, it's why PC players aren't exactly blown away with PS5's speeds, because we've been living in that zone for a LONG time already. Haptic feedback on controllers is great, I enjoy it enough, but again, it's not exactly new shit that hasn't been used before. It's been great on the VR controllers I've used over the last 5 years. You're just now enjoying features that have been a part of my gaming diet for quite a long time. I'm not discounting the hardware, I like the hardware in the system. I'm saying that the games aren't there yet. It's like having a supercar and only driving on 30mph roads. Great it can do more, but it doesn't really matter until you can use it to it's potential. If the best thing about your new system that you can talk about is how fast it loads games or the few games that support controller haptics, it's not exactly pushing the "gaming revolution" narrative forward is it. Stop being so defensive.

All these people most likely don't have a PS5 rn and waiting on some stock and acting all jelly + oblivious to what they don't have, or they are die-hard xbots who never even considered buying a PS5 and now they are shitting on every good news on the opposite side.

or they bought a PS5 BUT for some stupid reason haven't bought any true next-gen console exclusives or even tried Astro and talking their mouths off based on their weird experience... Like why even buy a PS5??

There's nothing more defensive than people dropping into console threads to tell us about their PC.

Can't wait for more games to use it. Thinking of God of War axe throws/retrievals too

Not at all. Just tired of seeing you criticize people for smelling their own farts, or accusing them of being defensive, because they are blown away by new hardware that you don't have or plan to get soon. We get it, you love your PC and don't care about PS5. That's fine, but there's no need to call people names for being excited by new hardware and next gen games.

Your going to compare SSD's that currently dont have a write speed that is stable enough to be at PS5's 5.5gb/s on top of the custom I/O which takes load off of your cpu doing the work? Show me instant load times on PC games please?

Until PC has games that look and play like PS5 games your words and posts have very little merit. If what you are saying were true why would tech heads like DF make a big deal out of PS5's experience?

They must be not impressed since they have been playing these types of experiences on their high end PC's with 3080's and direct storage update right?
It's not being defensive if someone is spewing their opinion like it's gospel, when tech sites and people with far more knowledge than you or I are impressed with what Sony puts out. Almost everyone who's used it with specific titles that showcase 3D audio, thoughtful uses of haptic feedback that gives the game a fresh experience you can't get anywhere else.

Until a developer on PC can marry the use of haptic triggers and actuators in their controllers with a game that looks and responds like ratchet, spiderman, demons souls than people will stop fawning over what Playstation is putting out.
It's one thing if you yourself are not impressed, but to discredit and tell people they like the smell of their own farts, to me ruins your talking points as being genuine.

Find me a tech youtuber or graphics engineer who's not impressed with what Sony is doing. Better yet find me a PC developer saying that what the PS5 is doing in ratchet, in Spiderman is not impressive.

Nothing brings out the shills like a pro PS5 article.

I think it is possible to really like what the PS5 brings and hope for some more new true next gen games at the same time. The pandemic really did a number on both next gen consoles.

I read like the first several paragraphs and I was still no closer to understanding what this promised “revolution” was and how PS5 was now delivering on it.
Things the article classifies as revolutionary:

Haptic feedback. Accurate.
Adaptive triggers. OK maybe na to this one but obviously very cool feature.
3d audio enhancements. I don't use crazy headphones/speakers to have an opinion, but they use Returnal as an example, and based off what i've read I think a lot would say accurate.
Raytracing on console. This one could be argued when its something on xbox and PC.
Upcoming console exclusives. They got to play some like Ratchet and Clank, so bit unfair, but so far this gen and based on Sony's history, accurate.
The amount of consumer use. Based on the early numbers they've shared, accurate.

And for the nerds who wanna flame each other over consoles, they end by noting many cross platform titles perform better on PS5

I'm sure you'd just prefer an echo chamber then?
I think he'd prefer the weirdo nerds who wanna turn every thread into a PC vs console argument to get a life.

This article has literally nothing to do with PC. So the absolute buffoons coming in here with "omg revolutionary but my PC is so powerful!!" are just being generalizing weirdos who think they're cool cause mommy bought them the latest RX for the family computer

So you can't answer my question is what your LOL reaction tells me?
What question? I never said the hardware was bad. If you even read my quote that you try and "debunk" you'll see me literally say I like the hardware. I'm simply saying that I've been in the wheelhouse of all of that "revolutionary" tech for years already. SSD's, Haptic feedback, VR, shit I've been using for YEARS already. Yes, PS5 might have a slight edge on SSD read/write speeds at the moment, but when we are talking the difference of 2 seconds vs. 3 seconds in actual use, it doesn't really make me giddy in my nether region for a purchase. It's also why I'm not complaining about the hardware ya dunce, I'm talking about the lack of "revolutionary" games. GAMES. Chill there bub, I'm not the bad guy trying to say lolololol consoles. I've literally owned EVERY single console since the PS1. I'd wager that I've spent more money on Sony Playstation's consoles/games/peripherals than your average Sony Pony here on GAF. You guys get so defensive that you can't see the forest for the trees.

Other people started bringing up how "revolutionary" the PS5 is while also ignoring the fact that the tech has been around in one form or another for years, even years before the PS4 was released. I kept trying to talk about games, some of the Sony Ubermensch kept wanting to talk about haptics and SSD speed. When you can only point to the hardware of your preferred console instead of the games that justify it, there's a problem.

I hope Sony is at least letting you guys be a part of the Playstation Underground for all the goddamn shilling and fluffing you guys are doing.

Between “Sony Ubermensch”, the subtle “well, consoles have had CPU’s and GPU’s and storage for 20+ years how can this be really revolutionary… seen it already *yawn*”, the less subtle “PS5 has no games” looking remark there is a quite well balanced post there ;).

Sorry, it makes you mad that I don't give a fuck. I said what I said also Sony is not as popular as Nintendo but yeah let's try again also man can't wait to get the PS5 and play that new Ratchet and Clank game. -- See I'm not a scum fanboys like you and the rest of fools. I say what I see.

What bias? Ps5 (Sony) leads the market
There is still bias, the fact that you claim with your own pathetic hands that wrote that clearly indicates that yes there is still bias. Look at the data and you'll see, look on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, or any other place that fanboys hang out in and you'll see there is a clear fucking bias in this pathetic gaming community.

What do you mean you don't give a fuck? You came in here posting about media bias and were told why its not.

You will be a better person if u learn to be less stubborn and accept when you're wrong.

Man the guy who said he doesn't give a fuck is really melting down at people correcting him. Relax.

I wrote facts. Ps4 outsold all other consoles, ps5 is outselling all other consoles. You could've just googled to confirm instead of going into a raging meltdown
