Thinks Microaggressions are Real
Seems like a huge failure as far as consumer interest and general word of mouth is concerned.
Based on what?

Honestly, the weakest part of the whole experience is the inconsistency in the patch/updates/PSSR. And the good news is that's the easiest thing to fix.

It’s OK. 3rd party has been lackluster but 1st party looks good. Horizon 1and 2 look absolutely insane I’m playing a lot of these to to ogle and drool ,literally insane.

Ghost 2 later this year will look amazing aswell.

If you don’t like Sony first party though then maybe not worth it.

I wasn't gonna get one but I got a great price for my launch 5 with disk drive and I put the rest to.

For me it's brilliant, the image quality alone is a win. If you haven't seen Horizon Forbidden West running on one of these bad boys then you're missing out.

Same with GT7. Incredible image quality and overall image stability seems to be improved across the board. Less pop in, better shadows, further detail into the distance.

My only gripe, and it's a tiny one is I can hear the fan whereas my 5 was silent all the time. But that's it.

Can't wait to see more.

There’s some nice performance and IQ uplifts in games like FF7 Rebirth… and Horizon Forbidden West is jaw dropping.

However I’m really not impressed with games like Avatar, I was really looking forward to that and it would have been a great litmus test for the Pro hardware but it turned out to be a disappointment.

I care little for Sony first party titles as they were all running great on the normal PS5 anyway.

I’m not exactly happy with the purchase considering the price tag and lack of disk drive, hopefully Death Stranding 2 and GTA 6 will help the purchase feel justified. If I had the opportunity to go back in time I would just saved the extra money and gotten a 4080 as I’ve always wanted to build a PC for a long time now.

I wanted to play ER + DLC at good resolution + frame rate. I wanted a Space Marine patch. I wanted a Helldivers patch. I was waiting to get TLoU1 until the pro arrived. I waited to play Armored Core until it had better frame rate. I didn’t want to play Rebirth in the state that it was released. So… 5 out of 6. Happy!!

Even happier but not related to the system’s performance: got dat 30th.

It is only decent, not because of the machine per se but it just really sucks that the enhancement is totally up to dev's will as well as their capability. I wish one day PSSR would be developed well enough to be a system level universal upscaling tech that can benefit all games without specific Pro patch.

I personally see this as a huge let down considering how much more time I spend on 3rd vs 1st.

A good majority of people 100% Sonys 1st party games. To spend that amount just to replay these games & then return to a lackluster 3rd party...
I'd say it's only worth it if you're a hardcore gamer & haven't played most of their 1st party.

based on bestbuy having stock the last 2 weeks?
That's a good thing.

Can't find disc drives in stock - "Sony should be embarrassed. This is anti consumer"
Finds Console in stock - "Seems like a huge failure"

Stock issues for the PS5 were due to the pandemic, that has been resolved for a while now.

We'll find out in a week or so how it did in its first month, but what we do know so far is that in some regions it's seling as well or better better than the PS4 Pro did in the same timeframe.

So far, it’s a big miss. Not nearly the upgrade the PS4 Pro was. As many games have really crappy and ugly patches as have good ones. It’s actually really disappointing so far. The disc drive situation is just absurd. They’re releasing first party in house titles without Pro modes.

Sony is run by total retards now (like Hulst) and it is starting to show. If someone came to me wanting a PS5 I would absolutely without equivocation say just get the base console. Now the hardware is the hardware and all this can turn around but I’m talking about the situation right now.

Disappointed in how it has been supported so far... A select amount of games that I barely care for and not enough on the horizon to get me excited. Of the games that are supported, the performance upgrades are still confusing to me as a consumer.

On a positive note, my base ps5 is wired to my router now and makes the portal a legit handheld now.

No games that make it a game changer just yet beyond maybe FF7 Rebirth's noticeable image quality and resolution upgrades in pro mode. In other words, not a worthwhile upgrade at the moment.

This echoes my take on Pro from before it came out. The convenient box that isn't an annoying weak ass console is a great idea, but it's just too expensive for something that only plays PS5 titles to me. I prefer to spam cheapo consoles while strong hardware can crunch anything thrown at it.

Of course all that's easy to say before GTA is out as a maddening timed console exclusive...seems obvious, Pros will be like gold then.

Sorry for posting without owning one, lol

I returned mine, games went from 2 options (graphics or framerate) and now there were some that had 4-5 options. I was under the impression I wouldn’t have to choose while gaming on ps5 pro. No I just have to sort through more obtuse graphical options. If I wanted to deal with that I’d get a gaming pc.

While games did run better, it wasn’t that noticeable unless it was running side by side and for $700 wasn’t worth it.

It's disappointing in some ways, i was expecting IQ to be much higher on most games, but it's not the hardware's fault, in general i'm pleased with what Sony delivered on the HW side, i think a better implementation of PSSR so it's at a system level and can be updated without third parties having to patch the game would have been nice, also i think being stricter in terms of what developers can do would have been good, personally i believe all modes should be available, so we can see what the Base settings are doing vs the pro versions, but it's promising, GT7, F1 24, Fortnite and BO6 have been great though.
