Demon’s Souls Looks Substantially Better on PlayStation 5 Pro; New Visual Feature Confirmed

When people complain about Unreal Engine 4 I always use this game as an example that the engine is not the issue. The skill of the developer is the main culprit, always.
What does this have to do with UE4?

Substantially better? Nah, I doubt it. If there is a substantial improvement, it’s probably worth the $700-$800.

This is not enough to spend $700+ on the ps5 pro. The game already looks phenomenal on the base ps5. If I were to spend $700, I want to see games where the base ps5 struggles, and the pro handles it like a champ with no issues.

Honestly, this is the only other souls type I'm curious to try.

I think the original has a performance mode at 60fps, so I wonder if that's holding the framerate for this version.

The bullshit machine over this console is in full motion :messenger_tears_of_joy:

We’re going to see an awful lot of ‘ITZ SO MUCH BETTA! type articles.

And then when it comes out:

Cant See Ken Jeong GIF by nounish ⌐◨-◨
I have a PS5 Pro preordered but this is true. This stuff is ridiculous and I assume Sony is “working with” sites to get these articles out.

Tjis is one of those features that is buried in a pc graphic settings menu and you turn it on or off and don’t notice any difference lol.

The PS5 pro hate boner is strong on GAF, lol.
Well, Sony is trying to sell me a system that costs $1200 CAD to get essentially what I already have in my PS5, but with AI upscaling. There is going to be some disappointment.

We went from PS4 1080p to PS4 Pro 4K checkerboard for a measly $100 upgrade. The cost of going from my launch PS5 to the PS5 Pro with optical and stand is roughly $500 more.

PS5 Pro is a pixel peeping machine cause that’s all I hear about. I need to see frame rate comparisons already.

Crazy how some of the best looking games come out early in the gen. Driveclub, The Order 1886, to name a couple.

Demons Souls remake is definitely one of the best looking games I've ever played.
If you listen to their DF interview when DS was released they underline how they wanted this title to be a benchmark for devs to beat. I don’t think many did, at least in image quality/geometry/performance stability.

The tech experts at Digital Foundry recently had the chance to check out the game running on Sony's soon-to-be-released mid-generation system. They revealed that it features a new Pro display mode that runs at what seems like 4K resolution and 60 FPS. The image looks very detailed but a little soft, but it's not clear if this is due to PSSR upscaling or anything else, as Digital Foundry could not confirm any details regarding the resolution.

What was confirmed, however, is that Demon's Souls on PlayStation 5 Pro features a new visual feature, a new contact shadow system. This system is similar to the screen space shadows system employed on base PlayStation 5, which is mostly noticeable in areas with rocks, but shows more fine shadow details that look quite good. Despite the lack of anything else, which is unsurprising considering the game will be four years old at the time the PS5 Pro launches, Digital Foundry has no doubt that Demon's Souls looks substantially better on the upcoming console.

It looked and still looks incredible as is…One of the best looking games ever released.
Slightly different shadows is not substantial at all, but that pretty much reinforces how good it looked already so eh.

I still can't believe we got a Demon's Souls remake. With it also being SIE Japan Studio's last developed (retail) game, it just has a special place in my heart.

Imagine being a 30fps fanboy retard and complaining about those 60fps modes because lower resolution in those threads and then coming here to say you need 4x zoom thing to realize the differences between pro and older 4k modes

I think I have this game with my recent PSN+ subscription. Is it ridiculously hard to play or is it manageable?

Wow! Better shadows!! Amazing!

Remember when system upgrades were “that two dimensional game is now in three dimensions.”

Diminishing returns indeed.
Yeah, when said systems were GENERATIONS apart. Let me know how all of those mid-gen upgrades were in the 90s.

Why are all the PS5 and Series X owners who are not buying this console getting so salty at being the new Series S category of users?

It's just how it is, the same way Pro users are gonna be worse experience compared to the high end PC's.

Just because they’re offering you something doesn’t mean you have to bite.
