This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

What games are on the PS4 that are similar to Dragon Quest Heroes, aside from the sequel?

I have Gundam Breaker 3, which is similar enough, but I can't think of anything else.

I'm not looking for Musou though. I want something that's more fighting waves of enemies or defending a base etc. not the Warriors style of "enemies are taking over fort A, regroup with your team and hold off the assault".

Basically something where you just beat up waves of enemies and you can turn your brain off for a bit.

Switch in charger so black battery = 100%

But do the joy cons ever get there or are they always charging with the lightning next to them?

EDIT: The answer is YES. They Joy Cons do reach 100% and stop charging once they do like the console. Woooooooooooooooooo

I saw Guitar Hero Live is on sale at Best Buy for $36 after GCU. It's not available online, but a nearby store has it. To anyone here that has played it, is it worth it at that price? I was big into the rhythm game scene back when it was hot.

i just bought a switch and it's due to be delivered in the next 4 hours. i was just wondering if most of you turn it off completely or just leave it in sleep mode? i read that turning it off can mess up the battery indicator.

i don't tend to like leaving my devices powered on 24/7 except my smartphone and i make sure to restart that once or twice a day. i know a lot of devices are designed to run 24/7 these days but whenever i'm done with my PS4 or PC i completely power it off and unplug it.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a modern version of Test Drive III: The Passion.

That means:

- driving cars in various places
- in an "open world" (not limited to just the track)
- that's available right away (no hours-long mandatory story before the game opens up)
- just let me drive, not only in a race
- ideally also not online

Does any such beast exist? The Crew, Driveclub, and Truck Simulator don't qualify.

On top of Forza Horizon, there's: Burnout Paradise, Test Drive Unlimited 1+2, Midnight Club LA. Last gen, but still "modern" compared to TD3.

I normally power it off completely, but I haven't heard any problems about the battery indicator so I might have to look into that and reconsider just putting it into sleep mode.

I leave my Switch on/standby 24/7. I am pretty sure that the only "damage" that could be done by leaving it on standby is that on standby you use more battery and batteries only last for a certain amount of charge cycles.

The thing is though that the Switch uses like 2% battery A DAY on standby, it's insanely power efficient in standby so the "damage" being done is basically negligible. I say don't worry about it and just leave it on standby all the time. You'll want to too when you see how fast the switch can go from standby mode to in a game. It's incredibly fast, I love it.

Maybe restart it every once and a while in case the system does some automatic maintenance/cleanup on startup like smartphones. But I kinda doubt the Switch needs that, it's nowhere near as complex and task intensive as a modern day phone OS.

I leave it in sleep mode. Because i want to be up to date with notifications an stuff.

Thanks for the replies! My Switch has arrived so I will just leave it in sleep mode.

Is it possible to remotely download games while in sleep mode kinda like how you can buy PS4 games online and have it download to the console while in rest mode? Or do i need to go into the store through the console to initialise the download?

Thanks! I own Paradise but it just doesn't scratch the same itch. I also have TDU2, which requires online, and frequently doesn't work, but FH3 looks really good.

I'll check out Midnight Club as well.

I don't know if this is the best place but there isn't exactly an OT for Super Metroid...

I just got the high jump boots but now I can't figure out where to go? I seem to be stuck in a fairly small area, and no where in it are the boots I just got useful.

Can I have a hint?

Is it normal that my Gamestop releases games at 9pm the night before instead of midnight? Isn't that breaking the street date by three hours? Maybe I just stopped going to game releases and am just missing something.

My memory is fuzzy... but is there an elevator near there? If you go up the elevator, and check out the wall to the right, you might find a clue.

Seems like I've heard of it before for certain games. It's perfectly normal for them to get everyone to go ahead and checkout in the store at 9ish, then just let people go in and pick up their copies at midnight.

The bolded is what I'm used to, I was just surprised it was a thing that they hand out the game a 9pm.

Yeah, it's definitely less common. It makes a lot of sense to drop the formality and just let everyone get on with their night though. Wouldn't surprise me if, for certain games, some publishers allow the street date to end a few hours early. Sounds like it's everything at your GS now though, so idk. I haven't been to a midnight release in a while, except the Switch. Hopefully doing it early is just a thing now.

Made a VN thread and I mentioned that I wanted to buy a Vita. Little did I know it is almost impossible to find new in the West these days. All the european stores are filled with used ones. I found one for a ridiculously overinflated price too. I'm considering either buying one used on Ebay or just importing it from Amazon Japan.

Is that a question?

I don't think they're prone to faults so second hand should be OK. On the other hand one of the Japanese exclusive ones would be cool.

I am still no closer to finding this ad than I was when I first inquired 2 years ago. Any help?

Does anyone know this video game rental commercial? i guess it was a Blockbuster commercial or another game rental location. The commercial is from the late 90's. In it ,a group of friends are sitting on school football bleachers and showing off their "scars" from marathon playing video games over the weekend. Each one shows off blisters and callouses on their thumbs saying how many hours they had played to earn them, when the last kid shows off his thumbs they are giant, swollen, bruised with purple and green marks and pulsating.

I know exactly which one you're talking about. It ended with a cheerleader holding up a needle and they all freak out.

I can't find it anywhere for some reason.

does a UK PayPal prepaid card work on the Canadian eshop Nintendo store? Not sure if it's the right place to ask so bear with me

Something has been confusing me. Video game images dumped from carts are called ROMs as they are from a read only chip. What about games that allow you to save the game to the cartridge? Are the saves stored on a separate RAM chip?

Not including cartridges with battery backup. For example DS games.

If they don't use battery backup then it's an EEPROM chip (from "electrically erasable programmable read-only memory"), they are non-volatile, basically a USB.

I don't see that it supports USB-C PD, so I don't know if it can keep up with the Switch's power needs. Assuming you want to keep playing while charging that is.
Yep, I want to charge the console while playing. So I need a Power Bank with USB-C PD support then? Sadly, i can't find any in my country :(

There's only Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C (A2053L11) available which is not a Power Bank and more like a Power Hub which only works when connected to power line.

Should I buy Batman: Return to Arkham on PS4? I have played the games before. Asylum on Xbox 360 and City on PC. Are the remasters worth buying? I have been thinking about it but I'm not a fan of the changes they made. Batman looks really odd:

Also is the framerate in Arkham City good nowdays? I watched some videos when the remaster was released and it didn't look stable.

Well, PD isn't a necessity, but it is a guarantee it will charge the Switch very quickly. At the very least you'll need one that can do 15v @ 2amp from what I know.
Are these also not available in your country?:

Nope. There is Power Banks available from Aukey and Rombica but F this, i've no desire to spend that kind of money just to charge my Switch while playing.

Only 20000mAh QC model available without USB C PD :(

AFK current lithium batteries live longer if you DON'T let them run out completely, it's ok to leave them connected. So it depends if you turn off the switch until battery runs out, or you turn off the switch with more than 30% charge, or you let the switch turn off after it runs out etc. What messes up the battery might be letting it run out completely. (Just my opinion tho)

I went to GameStop again today with a copy of Monster Hunter Tri. If anyone remembers this game, it had a pro controller with a bundle. Well, before I leave I check the GameStop app and it says I'll get $3.00 for this game. GameStop currently has a deal where credit is the same as cash.

Before I get into more detail. The app says "Game-Only". I'm thinking that I'll get the $3 for just the game and no case. No case, but a pristine looking disc.

I go up to the cashier and he says I'll get $2.00. I ask "why?". And he says, "because the game has no case". I'm like, "do you mark this game as refurbished and then stick a used sticker on it?". He says, "yes".

I had him call his Store Manager to clarify what "Game-Only" meant. The Store Manager said any game without a case is refurbished. He didn't answer my question.

So I showed the employee the app on my phone because the employee said other games in the Monster Hunter series had their "DLC". I said, "well, Ninja Gaiden 3 doesn't have that and there's Razor's Edge". He said he didn't know what that game was.

Anyway, I don't want to argue about the game anymore. I take the $2, but then there's a catch. The trade has tax, so I get $1.93. He can't get the drawer open for 10 minutes, so I spent more time in the store than I wanted to.

Here are my questions:

1. Is the "Game-Only" referencing the game and no pro controller? - I understand the concept, but I need clarification.
2. Why do they mark games without cases as refurbished? When I printed those stickers in 2007-2008, the disc was going to be sent to GameStop's factory for repair. It isn't refurbished.

Is there anyway i can save and add my credit card info to my Nintendo account without buying currency in eShop? I've zero desire to buy currency in eShop, i want to use only my credit card and available money on it to buy stuff on eShop for my Switch.

Edit: Problem solved.

Has anyone played Bomb Chicken on Switch? Reviews are pretty good, it looks right up my alley and it is currently 40% off. But? I think the length (it’s a bit short apparently) is putting me off.

Any impressions?
