Too many AAA games for 2025?

That’s fair. Indy turned out good but it just came out. And MS Flight Sim 24 will be great but buggy as hell.

Space Marine 2 is good as well. And 40K Rogue Trader is great now.

Yeah there’s definitely some great ones, but less than normal.

2025 looks set to completely change that and be way better than average.

are in a big trouble
If and that's a big if GTA 6 lands in 2025 most of these games will move out of its way

I have always tended to believe that AAA games will financially sink or swim whether they are good or not, but the outlook for games is so ridiculously stacked for 2025(and probably 2026) that I am unsure if gamers can actually sustain the industry

The games we are seeing today were funded when publishers believed the industry was still growing at a rapid pace. The layoffs the past few years in a post Covid world have shown stagnation within the industry. Even for hardcore gamers, I'm not sure if many of them will find the time to play most or all the games they would in a typical year

Announced big AAA games slated for 2025
Monster Hunter Wilds
Death Stranding 2
Avowed
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Fable
Ghost of Yotei
Assassins Creed
Elden Ring Neightborn
AC Shadows
Mafia 4
Borderlands 4
GTA 6
Marathon
Crimson Desert
Doom the Dark Ages
Judas
The Outer Worlds 2
COD

And the Switch 2 will surely launch with a handful of big IP games(Mario, Metroid Prime, MK9 ect). Not to mention, there will surely be a few yet to be announced games and also smaller AAA games that will become breakout hits like Helldivers 2 and Black Myth Wukong were this year. And, if GTA 6 comes out in the Fall, it will absolutely take up all the oxygen for the remaining months of the year

It could be a make or break year for the future of gaming. We may be in the golden era and not even realize it could be ending soon

Out of all those games there's at most 2 that I might get at release.

Two things - GTA6 is pushed back to fall 2026 and we're not in the golden era of gaming.
A golden era of gaming requires consoles running on different HW playing different games with different looks.
We're objectively post-peak gaming in a "dark age" of unified PC gaming where the only war is between AMD and Nvidia.

GTA has not been pushed back to fall 2026 though.

Bohemian medieval simulator is releasing soon. I am really looking forward to it!

But first need to actually finish my Rebirth play through on PC.

And then Ronin is finally releasing in March…. I have a feeling my purchasing and playing these games will be shifted by couple of months. 😅

If you made me bet money on it, I would for sure bet that it is not released this year. But yeah, Rockstar has not said anything on the topic as of yet. And definitely not Fall 2026.
They reconfirmed 2025 not long ago.

From this list I’m only interested in Avowed because of Pillar of Eternity world , and Elden Ring Nightborn which is just a DLC

Guess AAA games are really boring huh

Time to time they are western games I enjoy like Silent Hill 2 remake last year but number of western games I enjoy becoming less and less with each year.

if you filter the interesting bits from your list, you're left with:

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Ninja Gaiden 4
GTA 6
Doom The Dark Ages

Not too much for me so far but Nintendo is my primary, so I'm expecting that will shift heavily after April 2. Even 10 seconds of 'new Mario Kart' is easily top 3 most anticipated for me, maybe even top 2 just behind Metroid Prime 4.
