Thanks, this looks like it's not been altered and people on the internet are making shit up again.

Best I can get is a capture from the abc interview itself (6:29), and the image isn't sharp enough to really tell.

Good luck. FWIW I share your skepticism.

haha, was fun while it lasted, i guess. Just overlaid them in photoshop, apart from the blur, same hand.
They totally got me :/ #fakeNews :(

i mean it's telling that everything is so plausible by now, but i don't know why anyone would think making shit like that up is a good idea :O

I will say, though, this thread is a good thing to look at for how liberals handle questionable news, and how conservatives handle it. The former actually questions it further than the initial story, which generally leads to finding the truth behind the matter relatively quickly. Conservatives just run with it. I'm talking generally, of course, not as a law, but it seems to happen that way.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
There is so much legit shit to post about Trump, why would someone go out of the way to make something up?

*shrug*

Even if it is fake, it isn't like it matters much. It is a pretty funny joke that anybody would believe it in the first place.

Shit like this just feeds into the "fake news" narrative Trump's detractors are so keen to use as a defense.

Exactly. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was a plant. The whole created by a Disney artist thing. Dude doesn't need to be working at Disney if he can't align two photos in PS.

If it isn't accurate, it's not a good look for his opponents.

While being wrong sucks—so far as bad looks go, "I believed a twitter meme for 20 minutes" is pretty small compared to "I supported a fascist, racist, mentally diminished cokehead sex offender."

I mean, it's not like "I believed he had someone photoshop his hands" somehow erases the last week's worth of horseshit. Especially considering that week contained a story in which he specifically asked someone to find better pictures of his inauguration to prove there were more people there than there were.

Who cares? They're all so deep down the rabbit hole that ultimately it doesn't matter whether something is real or fake. It will be fake if they don't like it.

Sorry, but this thread is proof that both sides react to the sensationalism almost equally.

I'm sure lots of other people said the same things about evidence that Obama was a secret Muslim in 2009.

There's plenty to criticize Trump on. Focus on things that are happening. "It really says a lot about him that this was even plausible!" isn't a good line of thinking.

Seriously this just pisses me off. Why the fuck do we bitch about fake news when we're guilty of it ourselves?

This is the reason I never post this stuff on Facebook because I'd be absolutely ashamed if it weren't true

Nah. People here actually bothered to go to the source, do the work. I believed it, but evidence has convinced me otherwise.

You won't see them doing that.

same here, or - more likely - a rather clever viral stunt.

Hope mods are gonna change the title / OP gonna edit the OP.

well, to be fair, something so surreal is a refreshing palate cleanser with regards to all the depressing stuff that is happening. It's not like we can't focus on multiple things ;)

I care, because it creates some legitimacy for the fake news thing that is currently poisoning the well. I don't mean fake news like conservative bullshit shared on social media, but rather CNN being labeled fake news by the president and conservatives just taking that as gospel.

You think the left is free from fake news? Just take one look at the Democratic primary. VOTER FRAUD was everywhere.

I wish we could at least get a thread title change to indicate this is not necessarily true.

With all the harsh criticism about 'fake news' we have to call things as they are not how we want them to be. Otherwise we are just proving Trump supporters right.

Already edited the OP.

Also, I don't think the Disney artist is to blame. He took the image that was going viral and compared it to the original Getty image. He didn't create the photoshopped version.

To play Devil's advocate to the original guy who tweeted it; the news segment is literally showing off the Getty image, digitally. It's not an in-camera shot.

Why did you believe it though? There was no real evidence. You just wanted to so you did. It doesn't erase anything he's done but there are people out there putting out fake stories to make the Trump backlash look stupid. With that in mind it's good to apply some skepticism.

As I noted, narratives count for little, if these people cannot think critically. If they're desperate enough they'll take the flimsiest excuse and magnify as to provide credibility for their nonsense.

You mean the thread that questioned the validity of the information presented and debunked it within less than an hour?

Meanwhile right-wing people are still parroting bullshit that was debunked over a year ago.
