So, it's about giving the best excuse one can think of to get out of the individual mandate. I can already see people claiming exemption due to hardship because insurance premiums impact how many video games they can buy a month.
Timothy Jost, a law professor at Washington and Lee University, told The Huffington Post that the order mentions complying with the Administrative Procedures Act, which establishes a lengthy, drawn-out procedure for changing existing Obamacare regulations.
Not much will probably happen, until Price, Verma, and the IRS commissioner are in place, Jost said. But then we will likely start seeing new proposed regulations and guidance that will interpret the ACA rather differently than the Obama administration did.
Although the order appears to signal that Trump remains very serious about repealing the law, it could also give Congress a little more time to think about next steps, Jost said. One interesting question is whether this will reduce the pressure on Congress to come up with an immediate repeal-and-replace plan, since they can now say that Trump is dealing with the problems the ACA caused, Jost said.
I am on medicaid because I make below the poverty line (part-time student in college) , but if I was working poor/lower middle class ($20,000-$35,000) I would absolutely eat the fine rather than pay hundreds of dollars each month for something that I will never be able to use.
Trump is an American person. He was secretly still saying Obama was Kenyan. But, but, but the 20th of January 2017 was the day the American people took control again.
As a Brit looking in I have never been able to comprehend the fact that you need medical insurance in America to get medication or life saving treatments. Like that blows my mind, the biggest super power in the West allowing its citizens to die when it could be prevented.
Fuck, here in Scotland we even get free prescriptions never mind we don't pay to be treated or have operations or anything like that.
Genuinely my heart goes out to those affected and I hope that this can somehow be prevented.

This was so damn obvious that anyone who didn't believe it would happen WANTED to be deceived.
Welfare systems were mostly introduced by right-wing politicians trying to fend off the rise of socialism and avoid a communist revolution. I guess the US never had that "problem".

Maybe so many people wouldn't be refusing to get insured and instead eating the fine if the "insurance" offered through the exchange wasn't complete garbage.
$6,000+ deductible (Not to mention the 70/30 coinsurance after and 15,000(!) oopm) is completely unreasonable and more importantly unaffordable for the average American who lives paycheck to paycheck. Why pay hundreds of dollars a month for health insurance that is still going to bankrupt you if you ever actually have to use it?

Move to a different country ASAP if you have something terminal that you can't afford to treat. Heck, a one year visa in a country like Germany or Japan could save your life when you get it before a critical phase because you still become part of the local health-care system.Well, my life will soon be over. It was nice while I had the chance. Thanks, Trump.

I'd say instead of the belittlement, try educating him (her? sorry). Seriously! I'm sure others would gain insight from it as well. This is not a sarcastic jackass post, I'm being completely sincere. I think people need to know this stuff and that includes myself.
This is me. $580 a month for employer health insurance worth a damn versus $260 on the marketplace. I am so fucked unless I get another job.For someone making 30k
Silver plan US average
Average deductible $3,000
Monthly premium $207
Out of pocket max $7150

YES!!! Maybe my health insurance will become somewhat affordable again. Insurance companies should not have a monopoly

Yeah, the mandate wasn't even real anyway. A bunch of easy loopholes anyone could use to avoid payment. There were a few boxes you could check on TurboTax.So, it's about giving the best excuse one can think of to get out of the individual mandate. So, does this actually mean that if ACA was going to fine me $700 or whatever for not signing up for it this year, that's probably not going to happen anymore?
You get what you voted for...
Oh, so if I make under 40k, they would have just left me alone anyway? It's a tax in on a certain percentage of income depending on how much you make, I think the bottom threshold is like 40k or something.
I've got great insurance through work and my wife is in healthcare so we'd get great insurance through there if we needed it, so as an upper middle class white family we are, per usual, fine. My heart goes out to the less fortunate and I plan to protest for you today.

The EO is too vague to know at this point. Expect the IRS to hit you with that penalty this year. So, does this actually mean that if ACA was going to fine me $700 or whatever for not signing up for it this year, that's probably not going to happen anymore?
This sounds lovely, instead we've got this clusterfuck of a confusing system cause people are scared of socialism and people who don't look like them:/As a Brit looking in I have never been able to comprehend the fact that you need medical insurance in America to get medication or life saving treatments.
