We'll talk again in a few years. I'm 100% sure singleplayer games will come day1, just a matter of time.
At this rate they will have 100% PS5 catalog ported in 2025 on PC. Do you really think they will spend 1 year for new releases? I don't think so, the original 2 years statement became in 1 year, we will get 6 months soon and probably around PS6 release they will make a PSN on PC with simultaneous releases.

I think it takes a bit longer. My guess is mid to late PS6.

PS and Nintendo could've both blocked those 4 MS games from their platforms and MS would have nothing positive to say about "Gaming" for the last 12 months outside of the fact that it spent more money buying studios in a sad attempt at buying active users. Both PS and Nintendo would have survived just fine without the added sales from those 4 games but the damage it would've done to MS Gaming would likely be permanent.

Just continue making consoles, do whatever you want with your (not so) first party games. Never cared about them, except a couple ones, they are all shit as far as I am concerned.

Microsoft: "We're only bringing some of our titles to other platforms."
NeoGAF: "Microsoft are lying! It'll be every game! They always lie! Everything they say is a lie!"

Microsoft: "We're going to continue to bring some of titles to other platforms."
NeoGAF: "God himself has never spoken a more objectively true statement. This is beyond question."

Never change, GAF.
Microsoft : we are going to build the most powerfull console ever and give it for free for all costumers because we are trully a charity company.
Neogaf: they are lying its what they do.

Microsoft: we are going to build the most powerfull console ever and sell it at market value for a profit.
Neogaf: probably true.

Case in point.. we dont have to believe in every absurdity they say ... but somethings just seems to be the most logical thing so it may be true.

The idea that Microsoft would listen to a smattering of negative feedback, though it seemed plausible considering the articles that came forth after Indiana Jones, probably isn't true.

Xbox sales are hurting and Game Pass hasn't really moved very much. Now, CoD may move the needle on the latter, but whether it'll be enough remains to be seen. And I don't see Indiana Jones really helping to sling some Xboxes this holiday season.

They need a different approach and Satya wants money.

Hell, if Nintendo or Sony would allow Game Pass on their ecosystems, I've no doubt Microsoft would do it. I'm surprised they haven't tried(maybe they have).

Hmm, what should i look for as current Xbox exclusive to play on my soon to be received PS5 pro ?
The nicest would be Flight sim 2024 or hellblade 2, maybe Forza horizon 5 - all of these are the best looking games this gen, proper eye candy - proper next gen. But these are not confirmed coming to PS5 so you cannot be sure. Other than that, currently you can play CoD, Diablo 4, Grounded, HiFi `Rush, SoT, Pentiment and next year Indiana Jones and Doom Dark Ages. Beyond that nothing was announced/confirmed. Next TES should be multiplatform as well but hell knows when this will be ready. It will be refreshing to PS owners, instead of flood of reboots, remakes, remasters etc they will get some fresh IPs mixed with some proper bangers. I wouldn’t be surprised if MS releases Age of Empires & Mythology on PS5, they did already release AoE on Sony console back in PSX days (if I recall correctly).

I get the feeling they're still trying to figure that out.

Microsoft clearly sees the traditional console market as a dead end, but they also need dedicated non-PC hardware to sell Game Pass. It's like they're trying to figure out how to have their cake and eat it too.

Gamepass created way more problems than it solved for them. If they never had it people would still buy games on Xbox. Because of that games would still come out on Xbox. Because of that people would still buy Xbox's.

All to support this platform where they pay for games you get in a big library for $1.

hes referring to cod and diablo and doom and games that have always been multiplatform . Along with other live service games or older titles to pump life in them like a Sea of Thieves and Grounded or what should be treated like a new ip in Indian Jones. Theyve made savvy moves thus far as far as what theyve put on Ps5. People are dumb to think this means everything i gotta be honest. Why is Fable and Perfect Dark or Starfield not on Ps5 or announced for it ? Use your brains

Ah yes. The made-up BS about ‘nobody buying games on Xbox’ has now expanded to ‘games aren’t being made for xbox’

No one is saying we need to believe everything they say. I'm saying that when people paint Microsoft as universal liers, when they then select to believe one sentence that just so happens to feed into their narrative, it doesn't come across as logical or even cynical. It comes across as laughable.

There is a difference between making a random statement in public, or in a tweet (how is one supposed to say it now? in an "x"?), or when communicating with shareholders. One of them is where no lying is allowed. Guess which it is.

No Xbox Call of Duty Bundle tells you exactly how Microsoft views their console. At a minimum, Call of Duty should be plastered on every Xbox as an advertisement for Gamepass. That's if they truly want to sell the console and platform
I'm old enough to remember when they plastered master chief on the series x packaging and didn't have halo ready for launch.

Wait, people are still trying to mine copium after the letter from SATYA NADELLA? For a CEO he was as straightforward as it gets. All MS games will come to more platforms, there is no imaginary fanboy red lines here. Plust the letter is for people who give MS money, not for fanboys, so Satya can be quite blunt on the matter.

Gaming in general was very muted in the overall message and I think it shows that Papa MS is finally at peace with the thought, that Xbox will transform into Microsoft Gaming and will drop console model altogether (I'm sure there will be some hardware, but not 'consoles' that's for sure).

Also, Halo and Gears with DualSense features is a great thing too look forward to, if you ask me.

Sigh. At least get it right, because this has already been covered in this very thread. An executive of a publicaly traded company can't lie about the financials of the company - period. Doesn't matter if its a tweet, a letter to shareholders, or a comment in an interview. However, there's absolutely no law against a company changings its publicly stated plans. How could there be - you think the FTC is going to drag Nadella and Spencer away in chains for not releasing games on PlayStation? :messenger_grinning_sweat: Microsoft doesn't release a single game on any other platform from today onwards? There's literally zero repercussions for that. At worst, Nadella is asked about the change in an investor call by a shareholder. Given he's just got a 60% raise, I suspect investors are pretty happy with him and probably wouldn't ask about it at all.

Ahh yes, and get rid of a reason for people to buy a Playstation? You think Sony is looking at Microsoft destorying the moat around their console, and catering their hardware sales and think "we should do that"?

Most casuals don't buy a PS or Xbox for exclusives and i don't think day1 will harm them much. Every pc gamer right now already knows they just have to wait and get the games anyways. Day1 wouldn't change that much.

Lmao, people do buy consoles for exclusives. It's the one of the few reasons to buy a specific console. I see people all the time talk about how their just going to buy a ps5 since their getting Xbox games plus PS exclusives.

If Forza Horizon 5 wasn't on PC, I would have a reason to buy an Xbox but its not, and Xbox has lost that as a draw to Xbox.

The drive to go multiplatform for these brands was always, you feel, going to happen. It was just a question of when. Microsoft's hardware failure has just accelerated the timeline for them, and their vast resources meant they could take the 'large publisher' approach.

The cost of games has increased exponentially, and these devices are being sold largely to the same people every generation. By owning the IP of large franchises, Microsoft are hedging their bets, ensuring that they will have a piece of the pie, regardless of what platforms emerge over the next 20+ years, whether they be handheld or even TVs. The console may be dead, but the brand has a future.

Nintendo and Sony have not been forced to have this conversation yet, but I wonder what their vision is.

Keep the faith. It works for religion.

I do find it interesting that everyone believes current clown shoe Sony management around messaging on pc ports yet no one believes ms when they say they are looking at games on a case by case basis and will port games that "make sense"

Both lying corporations with hardcore fans that believe everything that is fed to them.

My advice is don't trust any of them.

If this is true, then why are Series sales being dwarfed by PS5?

Because PS is the older and more popular brand with much more fans and they also came from a very strong gen which means existing game libraries and friendlists. People would only have switched if Sony would have made huge PS3 mistakes which they didn't.
Microsoft has 0 exclusives, xCloud and also starts to port games to Switch and PlayStation. Yet they somehow managed to sell almost 30 million consoles. Can't be that bad with pc games day1. I'm excited to see how the Series lifetime does compared to the Xbox One lifetime where at least half the gen had exclusives.

This is a completely revisionist claim:

We went from:
160+M PS2
24M Xbox

to:
87M PS3
84M Xbox 360

30M and flatlining. They'll most likely end up with ~35M lifetime sales, down from 58M XBO.

So:
Why are Series sales being dwarfed by PS5 if exclusives don't matter?

This really isn’t the flex you think it is. First it was nothing, then four. Now five. “Nothing Burger” was even thrown out.

Reality - It’s Happening
Not a flex, just funny, . As long as PC doesn't get left out then I don't care where games get ported to, although the more the merrier is my preferred philosophy.

That's my point, Sony made it possible.

We'll see,my gut tells me something in the 40s.

Ok, let's reverse that question. If 1-2 year ports don't affect PlayStation sales (the pc sales suck), why and how would day1 sales change that drastically.

"Including the 3 already rumored a 4th big xbox game is coming to playstation"
"It's Starfield"
"Obviously Halo MCC"
"Gears of War 1-3 collection"
"It's gonna be FH5"

Reality - Pentiment
Also reality:

Doom The Dark Age day 1 release on PS5
Indiana Jones <6 months Xbox timed exclusive

Why are you asking me?
I'm not arguing it would change much for Sony if they would do that.

Besides, PC vs consoles is a very different discussion than Xbox vs PS.
