[VideoCardz] Retailer confirms Radeon RX 9070 “MSRP” only applies to first shipments, price set to increase later

Yep. GPU launches this year are lol worthy when it comes to MSRP =/= reality.

AMD LIED massively, just like Nvidia. And yet, they most likely will get away with it...
And it's fucking gone too. I took a nap.... and it's not only gone but prices were insane. again.
No way sony is not looking at this situation with the ps6... "perhaps we should ask 1000$ for ps6 but sell it for 1500$" lol.

But back to gpu. It's outrageus. I remember the times graphics cards were available. In any quantity.. in promotional prices cheaper than msrp because the retailers fought over selling this shit.
I wanted 1060? Hell, choose if you want this one or this one. 10$ difference between versions.
But since crypto and covid, retailers like media markt (and evryone) grew balls and sell everything for scalper prices.

Imo there should be some regulatory body for this. If I can't buy shit for MSRP prices at big retailers.... then where?!
Imo, it should be required by official partners and retailers to sell msrp.

The suggested retail price AMD announced last month isn’t expected to be honored by board partners for too long. According to some retailers, only a limited number of cards will sell at MSRP, then the price will increase depending on the board partner prices or retailer’s margins.

Swedish retail chain Inet.se explains how this works for Radeon RX 9070 cards. Apparently, MSRP will be respected only for the first shipments of cards, presumably those which are already in the warehouse. Further shipments will have different prices. The retailer is bringing an example of PowerColor cards, whose Reaper series will indeed launch at MSRP, but only for a limited number of cards. The company has already received a second shipment of these cards, which were already listed at a higher price.

Sweden?… but it is not the US…

whatever. AMD had to fight to get those prices in the first place, and we had to fight to even accept them (most people wanted 500 or lower)

Scalpers will quickly realize that nobody's buying the Radeons and prices will drop like boulders. 480 9070xts by October, trust

Let's hope so.

Would have been a lot more ideal had AMD had just released their own reference design, and we could buy through their store front. That would have actually set the MSRP at $600. Instead of the BS that the AIB partners are pulling right now.

that's what I've been fucking saying. & one card one account. at least then the scalping issue wouldn't be so severe.

I anticipated that the moment they revealed "no reference design for the 9070" the launch was going to be at least somewhat botched. Most AIBs suck, they apply a minor overclock and charge 200 bucks more for it. Powercolor & Sapphire the only good ones IMO.
