was just a thing of wonder coming from the snes/genesis.
ps1 was starting to really juice, but it was still fighting against so-so first impressions IMO (clipping polygons/no z-buffer, no analog stick at launch, weak launch titles, etc).
2d-to-3d was the biggest pants-shitting moment in gaming so far, and the n64 capitalized on that brief moment the best.
