Will Microsoft try to maintain performance parity between XsX and PS5 of multiplatform games like Indiana Jones or the next Doom? Or will it enable high-fidelity features so far reserved for their PC versions, making those releases on Playstation perform vastly superior to their Xbox Series X versions?

I think it's an interesting problem, as now many platform-agnostic players like myself will be inclined to wait and double-dip on PS5 Pro, where, at least in theory, it should and will be the better place to play them.

For Indiana Jones, I don't think it's a game of that caliber, so I'll be happy to jump in on release and play it on my Xbox Series X. For the next Doom, however, I'm 100% in for the PS5 version — unless Microsoft ensures there isn’t any Pro mode for it, which, as of now, would mean gimping the game for parity.

I think they already confirmed that they will support pro, and previous to that they made a big deal about parity in their contracts.

My guess is that they will not deliberately hinder their ps5 pro versions.

Even Playstation haven’t done this with their releases.

Doubt xbox would do it, they seem excited about releasing on multiple platforms.

No they wont and your poll is misleading because i voted no based on the thread title, but the question is actually different. Rigged! :D
oh shit... I just noticed that. Not intentional. Vote change option enabled in the poll, I reported on myself for poll title change as well

Given that we actually have Microsoft games with Pro support, MS has no history of ever gimping their games on other platforms, have released games in the past that run better on PS5 and had no issue making exclusive games for PSVR…

What are we doing here with these lazy threads?

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
MS main goal now is selling subscriptions and software/games, not selling consoles. I don't see why MS would hobble PS5 Pro games when adding PS5 Pro features could lead to higher sales.

MS and every 3rd party publisher need Playstation to do well. They are a platform where alot of their revenue is gonna come from

They want money more than anything,Xbox doesnt generate any so they WANT PS5 sales. So no they wont gimp it.

No they won't. For Microsoft Gaming to survive, they need PlayStation and as many sales as they can possible conjure.

PS5 is an additive bonus to that strategy. They're a 3rd-party platform now, it'd be in their best interests if all their games sell billions on PlayStation.

Not a chance in hell they do this.

I mean NOT support the pro or sabotage releases.

They want to make the most money possible. Why piss of the largest current gen console user base over some petty shit?

Yepe.

Investors are the true Green Rats, but the only green they worship is the green of money. After splurging 70 billion, inverstors start to notice that accounting error called Xbox isn't a decimal anymore. Satya is all hands on deck to make them a buck, if that buck comes from Playstation, it will have all bells&whistles and then some. Also, developers aren't sectarian as suits, so if given the chance to get a better game out, sell more, be recognized for it and crush those tasty bonus milestones, they will do it.

they will be releasing the objectively inferior version on console. This won't go down well on twitter

Why wouldn’t it go down well? This conflict exists in your imagination, really. Everyone knows the relative power levels of each console.

Y’all are weird.

Doesn't matter because everyone has moved on to the highest spec PC, they don't mind waiting for games and can now send emails while gaming. M&kb4eva bitch

There is no need to wait for the PS5 pro, the latest COD, Hifi rush or Sea of thieves already run better on the normal PS5 than on Series X, on PS5 pro the difference will be huge.

They already develop all of their games with powerful pc in mind, so just cutting some corners (lower iQ etc.) will make these games pro enhanced. Low effort to gain couple hundred sales. So answer is, yes, they will release games they have selected to be multiplatform with pro enhancements.

The only game that has any legal stipulation for parity is COD and Microsoft already made that a PS5 Pro enhanced title.

They will make them all Pro enhanced but they won't be openly advertising that fact. Instead it will just happen quietly.

i guess title changed. lol
yes. there was basically no aaa game that didn't come with a ps4pro enchantment after its release.
it'll be the same here, ms 1st party included.
now they might not put the most effort to it maybe.

Yes. Microsoft is a large third party publisher now. They will make PS5 Pro modes. What surprises me is they didn’t have any of their ports ready for the PS5 Pro launch window this holiday. Seems like a miss. I guess they will try and lap the PS port releases they did early in 2024 year with releases early in 2025, but who knows with them.

Why wouldn't thry take advantage of the platform? I can't think of a single argument in favor of limiting the PS5 versions of games.

Has this title and poll changed? If it hasn't I've lost it.

I voted no and I mean yes.
Indeed, and I have opted for the change of the poll rather than the thread, so maybe we should make a new thread with a poll asking whether to keep the change of the thread for this poll or revert to the original thread and change the poll instead of changing the thread? This should make it less confusing.

Just kidding, yes I totally blew it. Change vote option button in in low right corner, thanks for stopping by!
