Does Xbox still even sell a console with a disc drive? They have a series X without it now.I did the opposite, actually. Re-bought a bunch of games I had on PS4 on Xbox and Switch, back when we found out about PlayStation disc drive issues of the future viability.
Now I have a lot of my favorite games both physically and digitally across multiple systems.
Dunno, but I went digital on Xbox last gen. afaik, they're the only ones who offer returns on digital games, regarding consoles.Does Xbox still even sell a console with a disc drive? They have a series X without it now.
Yes, they do. The main model of Series X is the black with the disc drive. The white 2TB is the high-end $600 model without the drive, and I doubt they sell many of those.Does Xbox still even sell a console with a disc drive? They have a series X without it now.
Because they stop getting made. Why is everyone's Xbox going to stop working?![]()
Personally, I wouldn't move to another platform, I am just too entrenched. For example, most other platforms have copied Xbox 360 achievements, but when I get an achievement in something like Steam it's meaningless to me, whereas on Xbox I'll actually play a game in whatever specific way is required to get an achievement.
When they shutter the Xbox console business, that's probably the end for me and (non-Nintendo) consoles.
Because the whole premise of this thread is conjured up in fantasyland.Weird why not just move over to PS? They essentially get almost all the same games. If PS was going through what Xbox was I'd just move over to Xbox and be done with it. I don't really care which ecosystem I'm in they are essentially the same to me. I just want to make sure I have access to the games I like. Xbox didn't have access to a bunch of Japanese titles so that's why I choose PS but now they have access to most of them just missing a few more now.
I will just keep buying the next gen Xbox consoles and play my games like normal. You were missing that option in your poll. This is a question for those who own Xbox but have decided to move to another platform in the wake of Microsoft's decision to prioritize their publishing business. Microsoft has many options to keep you on their platform, like Play Anywhere, XCloud, and Game Pass. Their PC releases also have a presence on Steam and other consoles now, with lots of options where players can go. Of course, everyone can stick with their existing hardware - I doubt Microsoft will pull support any time soon for their playerbase, even if support for Xbox hardware is diminished in the future.
I haven't owned an Xbox since the 360, but I would love to buy several former Xbox exclusives on other platforms. I tried to think what I would do if my Nintendo or Playstation libraries were affected instead, and honestly I would probably buy some of the games again on a platform I know would have full support in the future. I wouldn't replace everything, just my all time favorite games or multiplayer games I want to ensure there is an active community to play with.
Yea like I said situation reversed I'd be moving over. I don't care what the people at MS say. They are constantly changing plans and if hardware sales drop even lower next gen they will bail out. Just me as a consumer I wouldn't like the uncertainty and constantly changing plans of the company. If Sony was doing all this I'd already be looking to leave. I tried PC because to me that's the best choice but unfortunately all the BS on that ecosystem is to much for me.Because the whole premise of this thread is conjured up in fantasyland.

EXCLUSIVE: Xbox President Sarah Bond has set up a new team dedicated to game preservation and forward compatibility
The backward compatibility program will continue to future Xbox hardware.www.windowscentral.com
- In the emails, Sarah Bond reiterated Microsoft's plans to build new Xbox hardware focused on delivering "the biggest technical leap ever in a generation."
- Sarah Bond also revealed that Microsoft has set up a dedicated team to future-proof our digital Xbox game libraries across future hardware paradigms to further "build on [Xbox's] strong history of delivering backward compatibility."
I think maybe I just don’t need a new console. If it was an Xbox and I could still collect achievements and access all my old stuff, that would be fine, but moving to a completely different closed platform - no thanks, I’ll stick to PC.Weird why not just move over to PS? I guess you can still hook your NES up too, but it's easier just to get those games on Switch.

What ?! lol That's dumb. no one bought this Saturn games because they only released like 5 copies. Deep fear was never released in the US.
The Xbox is digital so no game scarcity. And Ms will continue on with Xbox as a digital platform meaning your games will be available some where.
This is all silly fanboyisms.

We on Dreamcast are currently playing GTA 3, GTA VC and Doom 64 improved AFNo, but people leave when they see no future in the brand.
Trying to buy Dreamcast games on eBay, anything that came out after the console discontinuation announcement is hella expensive as a lot of people abandoned the platform after Jan 2001 and game sales really slowed down.
Same with Saturn, those consoles stopped working, but no one was buying those great 1998 titles like Panzer Saga, Burning Rangers or Deep Fear.
Microsoft already thought about shutting it down (came out during the leaks back during the Activision trial) so it's possible. With Xbox offering play anywhere since Xbox One (mid-gen?), if they were to pivot completely to PC, they've already semi-converted some of their user base towards PC. Now with some games going to PlayStation, they've got some additional or supplemental revenue coming in from the console side.
From a revenue perspective, if they keep playing their cards right, they can "afford" their own hardware while getting money from multiple revenue-streams. And I have said this before, MS is the only company that can afford to set up this type of ecosystem without putting themselves at risk. Of course if MS, the parent company, loses interest, then things will be a bit different, but not sure we are there yet or it will go there.
Since the thread bump: both. I’ll keep my 360 around and I’ll purchase another SX when it’s dirty cheap (which with Xbox systems happens a lot here in Spain). But I’ll probably buy the MMC again. And then delete Halo 4.
The OG Xbox was dirty cheap, and the One was also heavily discounted. If it tanks, it cheapens.Wait, when has that happened in Spain? As a spaniard I can’t recall, actually due to the low stock on Series X I bet it won’t be easy to find them for cheap when the new XBOX is released.
I got a new Galaxy edition next to my PS5 Pro 30th anniversary edition, and it will be there until the next gen.

Idk about the OX but the One was very cheap towards the end of the cycle.Man, it was 25 years ago, not even with the EOL of the 360, or XBO/XBOX despite sinking in Spain really hard you could find them for dirty cheap, and as stated before this time will be much harder to find a Series X in countries like Spain where it's not easy to find stock at retail stores.
