Xbox boss PWS3 reassures Xbox fans that their digital libraries are safe and that he respects "people who voice their concerns" about Xbox's future

I would hope so. I have a sizable library of BC games and would like to continue having access to the in future hardware as well.

Respect is a key word of popularity from Microsoft.
With luck consumers will wake up and not seeing Windows 11 installed on their Xboxs.

Would be a major bummer as far as I'm concerned. Native running emulation is one of my favorite things about the Series consoles and biggest disappointments on how PS3 emulation is handled on the PS side.
How else do you want it to be handled?
Maybe the ps5 pro has the power to emulate the ps3... Maybe, not sure about the cpu latency comparison.

They're going to unite the Xbox console accounts with the Xbox pc. How they do this I don't know. But people don't have anything to worry about.
There's no chance Microsoft abandon billions of pounds of customer revenue by throwing them in the scrap heap

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

If RPCS3 can work on a Steam Deck to an average to reasonable extent, even if it doesn't have 100% compatibility, you can't tell me the PS5 wouldn't have had enough grunt to do system-level emulation.

Fortunately we have a product for people that aren't able to connect to cloud, it's called Xbox Series.

Yeahh ... unless there's a proper solution, I'm gonna keep the SX in perpetuity just like I'm still holding onto my PS3.

It can't run any of the latest more demanding games, like UC3.

The last string an Xbox consumer can latch onto... once they realize it's not worth it, they will finally be free. Fortunately, Game Pass is helping with that.

"A library is just an illusion. To see this truth is to walk the path of true happiness, free from the shackles of digital attachment, which bring only suffering, anxiety, and sorrow. Be like me; once merely the head of Xbox, I transcended the chains of mediocrity and failure, only to embrace them on a grander scale as the head of Microsoft Gaming"

I wasn't worried before but I am now, lol.

The power of the cloud sucks dick because of 2 reasons:

1. Latency caused by speed of light not being fast enough, good luck fixing that one
2. They promise that you will be playing off a super computer but really you are playing off last gens card

If I play from the cloud it needs to be far better graphics than I could afford at home. Just like when I go to a restaurant it needs to be better food than I can fix at home. Why would I use the cloud when I could buy graphics at home that are better? Because it is cheap? My gents, learn this in your life, nothing breaks barriers and changes everything by being slightly cheaper than the other guy. Cheaper and shitter is a race to the bottom and not a good look for our industry. It costs too much money to outfit cloud servers with the latest and greatest experimental GPU for everyone to play at once. They try to sell you that you will play on supercomputers than hook you up to an old fucking Xbox with added latency. Cloud gaming is for people who don't have any taste or understanding of how shitty what they are doing is.

Anything that's not play anywhere will be cloud.

Book it.
This is all starting to make sense now.

The one part I kept struggling with to understand about their new direction was XBL.

XBL is basically all profit and I didn't see how alot of these theories of the next Xbox would work with that and I don't think they would want to just give all that money up for nothing.

But now I see, you'll need XBL to access the cloud and access your prior libraries.

Why would this need to be said?

This company is in such a weird state currently lmao.

Phil always drops nuggets of the truth in his lies. The only surprise is that people still just believe the lie. I'm sure he himself so confused as to why people don't pick up on the things he actually says. Like the 4 games. He never promised there would only be 4 games. He said the 4 games weren't a promise that everything was going over, but it was a clue that they probably were if you were paying attention.

The playbook Microsoft is following for Xbox is page for page the same playbook as the Zune. Before trying to become the netflix of gaming, Microsoft had attempted to get into the spotify game just like Apple Music. It did not turn out well for people who purchased music from them.

There might be a new Xbox handheld, but I doubt there will be a traditional console ever again. At best you're looking at a premium PC.

He doesn't actually answer the questions he himself posed... That's a MAJOR tell. He doesn't want to be quoted in a clear cut lie.

The fact that he brings up Play Anywhere is a massive red flag for people with game libraries... It's entirely possible that they'll only keep these alive via the cloud and/or subscription.

Bottom line is Phil has been lying for years and for some reason people keep believing him even giving him unjustified awards.

If someone continues to buy into an xbox library particularly a physical one, they have no one to blame but themselves when they're unable to use it moving forward without an XSX. I wouldn't even trust them with my digital library.

I'm pretty good at catching Phil in his BS but I missed this one. Yea he doesn't really answer the question.

I hope this leads to them porting all those 360/OG xbox games to PC. I want native ports of Ninja Gaiden Black and Lost Odyssey so bad.
I have no clue why them (and Playstation) aren't porting older games to PC. I'd be more excited about older games hitting PC than newer ones tbh.

You have no idea how complex the CELL was...
If it was that simple, Sony would do it as a selling point when they launched the console.

PCs still can't run (emulation) the most demanding ps3 games.

RPCS3 has 70% fully playable compatibility with PS3 games. No one's asking for every single PS3 game to be emulated, the Uncharted games already have remasters anyway.

But it's clear a majority of the library can be emulated successfully on much weaker Steam Deck caliber hardware. Again, you cannot tell me a PS5 couldn't have been able to do it, and better, via official emulation. RPCS3 is still a third party, user-driven, thing afterall.

A PC emulator isn't comparable to what the original manufacturer of the device could do. Xbox emulation on PC is a mess, yet MS got the Xbox emulated on the 360 (Intel OoOE to PowerPC In-order and Nvidia to ATI). PS3 could easily be emulated on PS5 if Sony really wanted to. They'd rather sell you the game again rather than let you play what you've already bought.

Cause one thing we all know, is that Sony doesn't love more opportunities for revenue increase.

Hence all the remasters.

Kind of hard to believe that a bunch of enthusiast fans can get PS3 emulation working on much weaker hardware but Sony couldn't do an officially sanctioned emulator on the PS5 if they wanted to. 🤷‍♂️

Eh, as longs as their xbones series keep working they're safe, explain to me how is MS going to transfer all of the gaming libraries to other platforms?

Is MS willing to pony up for millions in $ or through "arrangements" with publishers to repurchase these licenses in other systems or there is going to be a huge fucking * telling those who bought digital something in the likes of "tough luck kid, your library is safe, sure, BUT ONLY IF YOU SUBMIT YOUR SOUL TO THE MS STORE MUAHAHAH!" 😁
What the hell are you talking about? It’s called backwards compatibility with their next hardware. Why else do you think he was talking about digital?

You have it all figured out. They have a handful of working games, and a massive pile of shit that doesn't run right.

If that were the case where remaster is the goal, the PS3 remaster pipeline would be a floodgate right now, and it's not. It was less than a handful with less than a handful at that being remakes in new engine tech.

They still have 100s of PS3 games up on a store that can be rolled over to the PS5 store and sold to people who never played them, if it were so simple to emulate. Even with Trophies in them, so that doesn't need to be added like the PS1&2 ones.

His word means shit, but i am sure its true.
I don't think they are going to mess with people's digital libraries, the lawsuits would being them to their knees.
