I read a good chunk of reviews, including the lower score ones, many of the complains appear to be less about the game itself and more to do with the system its on
What's the point of mentioning Xenoblade 3 would be 'better' if it was on another console? i get wanting to run on higher frames and iq, but many times gamers mean the visuals(really bothered by the ocassional low resolution asset and repeated textures ) , yes Xeno3 would look prettier on more powerful hardware(we might see it running nicely on Switch 2 one day) , but its questionable if it would be a better designed game, just prettier.
The thing is with new hardware comes expectations, its not
about running the same visuals on higher settings(because that doesnāt hype gamers) this is a massive game, scope is rarely seen(if at all) on other JRPGs , so more visual complexity takes time and money, the Switch isn't very powerful but the tradeoff is it can take some time off developers, Monolith designed and developed this game right after the Xenoblade 2 expansion was released, had they changed hardware it would simply NOT be possible to release this game on time, instead of being thankful Xenoblade got a brand new game so soon(very impressive it didn't took longer) , one that improves on many of the prequel's faults, some are trashing it because of lol graphics
Like I can understand and emphatize with wanting X game on the 'best' system possible, but gamers rarely think about the scope, money, and time these projects take, when shouting these criticisms. Monolith still tried to make the best game they could for the hardware, and looks like they accomplished something special
