Seems like good review scores for hated franchises bring the worst out of Gaf. Lmao
Though seriously, it look like this is decent. Might be worth a play-through if I can get it for $30-40.
why do people say this? Would a game you don't like getting high scores displease you?
Numbers also aren't everything......
It's crazy. I think a lot of people here expected or wanted this game to get eviscerated in reviews.
totally worth it for that 78 metacritic
One VideoGamer reviewer gives Unity an 8/10 (before the major patches), another gives Syndicate a 5/10.
Hmm...

Both console versions are 900p.Is the ps4 version 1080p?
Wat?Can't believe how some outlets can give this a 9. That's bordering on dishonest, seriously WTF?
yeah no way this thread is going without a wall of shame, you guys are embarrassing. you'd like to think its some top tier trolling but no one can be that skilled
So this game actually appears to be good?
It's funny you should say that..
It looks "worse" in the sense that you can tell areas aren't as crazily detailed as Unity but that is probably because they wanted good performance which in my eyes is far more important.Any word on how the graphics stack up to Unity? That random Reddit poster said it looked worse.
Is it? Allow me to direct your attention to The Evil Within's Metacritic page.

Now you know how I felt after playing The Phantom Pain and seeing the crazy amount of good reviews for a $60 game with f2p nonsense.
Never take scores seriously.
Best wishes.
It uses a more realistic lighting system than Unity. It does look worse, but not a bad looking game or anything.
how can you put something like this
and still scores with a 8,5
lol
Much like the Victorian city that it's based upon, you have to dig into Assassin's Creed Syndicate in order to identify its problems. The core gameplay loop is solid and it's built upon a sound structure, but familiarity and filler lessen the appeal of this open world outing. Vastly improved performance and all around impressive presentation mean that London's most definitely not burning but there may be a little panic in the offices at Ubisoft.
Plot twist the reddit guy was Steve Burnio, dun dun dun!But...but...the reddit guy said it was terrible!

Let's be honest, Unity is a pretty stunning looking game, saying it's not as good looking isn't really doing it too much of a disservice.
The lighting system is probably less realistic but it's not pre-baked which makes a huge difference, both in terms of gameplay (dynamic day/night is always better) and graphics (indirect lighting is severely reduced because it needs to be calculated)
It does the opposite. It uses a more versatile, better performing lighting system. Unity's use of global illumination was a major component in its amazing graphics and terrible performance; even turning on Eagle Vision would noticeably improve the frame-rate.

Ubisoft must have paid then good money.
Seriously though, I can believe the 8/10 reviews though.
I wish I could play hours upon hours of new games before their release. These guys are deep in the reviewer crowd for sure.I honestly can't understand people sometimes.

Yes?
Oh I thought I read that they made it more like GTA where the lighting actively changes as it moves from day to night (unlike in Unity, where you had to manually change the time of day).

PC version is coming down the line.
Why has this franchise almost been consistent in these oddities?

Scores range from 9s to a goddamn 2, man.
