Naughty Dog and the PS4

New IP. I was disappointed to see Sucker Punch still doing inFamous.

An IP that was just created last gen...

Do people expect companies to not make sequels anymore? Jesus.

They'll probably work on something new when the time comes. I see nothing wrong with a 3rd non spinoff Infamous.

Uncharted 4
Jak and Daxter 4
Crash Bandicoot
New IP

Either way it will be a day one purchase for me.

I also hope they release a PS4 last of us, I'm willing to wait a couple of months.

If they do do a new IP while continuing with the realistic IPs (Uncharted, The Last of Us), I wanna see them do a heist game. The Sony London one got canceled, but I'd love to see the ND crew do a fun, funny, heist/crime game.

I want to see the Uncharted universe in an open world game. When that is real, I want the same treatment done to The Last of Us.

Brand new IP. Uncharted is out of gas. It's beneath Naughty Dog to constrain themselves to cranking out sequels to a series that doesn't need them. Let them stretch their creativity into something new.

First game has to be uncharted 4. After all that hard work to make the series a popular one, I can't imagine they abandoning it at the very beginning of PS4's lifecycle. And I think some of you are right, it will most likely get announced and released next year. Along with TLG and Versus. Believe!

He means because the textures will be so godly he'll have no mind left to be blown.

I mean, I'm scared that they will be TOO good. Uncharted 1-3 have incredibly good textures, WITH 512 MB RAM.

Ya that is what I inferred. I share your excitement. What I was implying was that they are already phenomenal. I really can't wait to see what they do with textures alone. Although I hope the ice/edge team use some of their technological wizardry to introduce some destructibility (environmental and body) in the series. there was talk about it before when the killzone tech was shown for ps3 but nothing came of it. If I could see the plaza multiplier level from uncharted 2/3 with the new hardware.... just wow.

I don't think Uncharted 4 will follow the exact same formula as previous Uncharted. ND said that there's not team A and team B inside Naughty Dog, basically they all have meeting together to talk about both game design/story etc.

so I think next Uncharted will have some evolution from The Last of Us as well, maybe with more exploration and finding treasure/loot this time, any AI improvement they make from Last of Us also won't be scrapped and will be implemented or even further refined in Uncharted 4 too.

so bring on Uncharted 4, I'm excited, I want to see what they can do after The Last of Us.

No, my God no. Please don't ever bring that dreadful IP ever.
You have no soul man.

I would kill for a new Jak and Daxter. Please let it be that.
Congratulations for having a soul.

I wouldn't mind a Jak 4, if it did go back the first one's style.
I want them to dive back into the time travel stuff, but yeah, revisiting that time would be cool. I really did like the story/plot transition from 1 to 3, despite it getting darker.

Do you think it is a coincidence that the release date of "The Last of Us" was pushed a few days behind E3 2013?
What does that mean, though? Doesn't necessarily make it PS4 related.. I would love a PS4 version, though.

We still need Uncharted 4, ending with Nate and Elena having a daughter named Ellie, and the very last scene is them watching the news report about the spread of the outbreak.

Think about it though, we saw the newspaper in Uncharted 3 which hinted at The Last of Us, which is set sometime in the future, so it stands to reason that it happens in the Uncharted universe. Mysterious orphan girl in The Last of Us.. could be Nate and Elenas kid. So Uncharted 4 would be the end of the series, which would continue on with The Last of Us 2 on PS4.. so the Last of Us games would be a series sequel to the Uncharted series.
That would be a seriously, seriously awesome way to end the Uncharted series; giving closure while still retaining a loose connection via the LoU series.

It'll never happen, though. :[

Considering that they are making TLOU (new IP) I doubt there is another one in the works. that would be unwise. U4 as launch game, then they can work on new IP

The only way I can see Uncharted 4 "working" is if they do something so damn drastic it stands out from the rest of the series. I don't want to say MGS4-style, but... maybe age Drake? That would be ballsy, though, since the appeal would be somewhat lost. Or have him age mid-game in a flash forward or something.

I expect "Uncharted 4" for PS4 to be released in October/November 2014.

"Uncharted 3" will be 3 years old by then. Time for another one.

Given how easy PS4 would be to develop for it wouldn't surprise me if we had a re-release of UC1-3 and even The Last of Us on PS4. I know, it's crazy talk to some. But I'd expect them to be having the UC engine running simultaneously on PC and PS3 (with code gurus doing optimizations for SPUs on the PS3 side of the engine).

I'm expecting this to happen. I think we'll see 1080p/60Hz versions of their biggest PS3 games arrive after the first year or so. Uncharted Trilogy, God of War 3/Ascension, The Last of Us, Infamous, Resistance and Ratchet & Clank are all titles I expect to see get enhanced and re-released. For me, for those types of games, it's preferable to BC. Playing the remastered ICO, SOTC and God of War games on the PS3 convinced me that this is something that I can get behind if done properly.

It'd be awesome if Naughty Dog went back to their roots and did another platformer. Something light hearted and all about the gameplay. They have the resources to work on a Uncharted 4 and another side project now so hopefully they mix it up heavily.

I've yet to play a bad ND game, so whatever they churn out I'll be sure to play.

Their new game will definitely be Uncharted 4. Sony will likely show Uncharted 4 and GT6/Prologue at E3. Santa Monica and Sony Bend will likely be the studios showing off new IPs.

And I don't think "Uncharted 4" will be the last game of this franchise. This series with it's adventure theme is just too popular. They will probably introduce new characters and approaches at some point in the future, which of course isn't easy, because likeable, charismatic characters are very important to make the game work, so they have to make sure new characters are good. But I would be very suprised if we won't see a lot more of the Uncharted franchise in the future.

Not doing Uncharted 4 would be nuts considering it's a far more critically acclaimed and a better selling franchise than Killzone/Infamous etc. (correct me if im wrong)

I hope you're right, that would be awesome. And to double down, I personally think that's what they'll do for PS4 as their first "big release." It gives them a break from TLoU, and it allows them to tweak their next gen engine for PS4. Something tells me TLoU will be on PS4 sooner than we think. They could never announce it this early because it comes out in 3.5 months. PS4 comes out in around 9.

"Programmers"?

I would buy a ps4 on launch day just to get Destiny and TLoU in 1080p. I hope ND puts the time aside for a port.

I just realized Naughty Dog is going to be forced to do real-time cutscenes on the PS4. Not enough space on a 50GB blu-ray for 3~ hours of high 1080p video plus a next-gen game. :P Good riddance to their prerendered stuff.
