Smart peeps of the PC. How would a 14900k, EVGA 3090Ti, 32GB Ram combo be doing against this stuff, here? Please talk to me like you are explaining to a toddler, but one that maybe has learned to walk at 6 months or so, so an advanced little one, but not too intelligent of a baby.

Thank you.

Honest question as someone outside the PC gaming environment.
Why is it that unlike, say, popular phones or consoles, it's apparently impossible for GPU's to just be widely available at retail for MSRP?

Like I get that, just like consoles, early on stock is limited, scalpers buy it up and resell it on ebay and similar platforms. But how come you can't eventually just walk into your local electronics store (or online store) and buy them for MSRP? Does Nvidia intentionally limit the stock or something? Wouldn't they sell more units and make more money if they ensured everyone who wants one can get one at a normal price?

A bit slower than a 5070Ti. Probably in between a 4070Ti and 4070 Ti Super in most games.

Granted that doesn't take into consideration of DLSS 4 with transformer model, which scales better with 4000 and 5000 series GPU's.

there are more scalpers bcz these cards are good for mining. ps5s and their value starts & ends with gaming, and there are too many phones out there for such a price surge to occur.

not to mention consoles & phones don't do "paper launches"

I have a 3080 and barely play any PC games these days, I mainly use my Pro. Do I think the Pro was somewhat expensive? Yes, but mainly because it didn't include the disc drive. But when you compare the performance of the Pro vs building a PC, it's really not that bad.

Anyway, will wait until AMD pulls their finger out their ass or the 60 series after people boycott this shit generation of 50 series GPUs. People need to stop buying them!

You did good. Especially in light of the fact that Ada got a performance bump for FG and all RTX got DLSS 4 Transformer.

PNY XLR8 it's a chunk!!! But you're right scored a great card, I haven't overclocked it yet hopefully it's a good chip.

I'm not in the market for these cards but to see a 70 class graphics card touch $1000 is crazy. Price doubled from $500 3070. Its the same class of card despite the Ti moniker. You could also say its a 5060Ti class of card being sold for $1000.

I hadn't heard the news! Have a link?
I meant the base "announced" 5070ti MSRP version pricing being the $750... but it seems like everyone's selling them at higher price. :)

4080 Super-esque performance at $750 is not terrible... but honestly I expected 5070ti would and should surpass previous gen 80 series like it normally did before 40 series.

I don't think $750 was ever part of the plan other than for marketing. The Founders Edition now seems like a way to misrepresent MSRP while being able to say "we did technically sell 24 cards at that price"

Seems the best bang for buck if you can score one at MSRP.

In Canada, PNY has one for $1,089 while the cheapest 5080 is the FE at $1,449 which is a 33% increase for around 15% more performance.

Even though I have a 7900xt, may try to get the PNY 5070ti for better RT and DLSS.

With the reports of PCI-e 5.0 issues and overheating RTX 5090 cables, I would strongly urge anyone thinking of buying a 50 series GPU to wait 3-6 months rather than paying over the odds for one right now. That way any issues will be resolved and stock should be sufficient to be able to buy the GPU at the MSRP. And if you need a GPU right now well then just shop around for a 40 series GPU as with the exception of the overpriced RTX 5090 they only offer a moderate upgrade anyway (ignoring the 'faked' 2X/3X/4X frame gen thing which is a bonus as far as I am concerned not a reason to buy these cards).

I bought my RTX 4080 Founders Edition at its MSRP of £1,100.00 direct from NVIDIA via Scan here in the UK in January 2023. Sure, that card was overpriced at launch but at that point it had come down in price by £100 so I was not too concerned when the marginally faster 4080 Super was launched at £1,000.

Quite why graphics cards sell at inflated prices is a mystery to me because if I pre-order any other product, even a TV from Richer Sounds or a games console from Sony or Amazon, then I only pay the actual MSRP for it. However, I've seen these GPUs listed on Scan, Overclockers, etc at hundreds of pounds more than their MSRP which makes it looks as if the retailers themselves are scalping their customers.

The GPU market right now utterly sucks and I think NVIDIA are entirely to blame here. They know that they have no competition in the high end sector and have the largest slice of the GPU market so they can get away with this kind of thing. They need to be held to account in my opinion so we get back to a time when you pre-ordered a new GPU at MSRP and got one at that price, stock permitting.

Its going to be kicking its ass or at least on par with it. No point to side grade at all.

Like someone else said, roughly around 4070Ti level I imagine. I'm rocking a 12700K and 3080 and it's great. No game I'm playing at 1440p runs less than 60fps and most of the time I cap the framerate at around 90fps just to lighten the load on the machine. A 3090Ti is going to do just fine and play anything you throw at it for the foreseeable I reckon.

Prices went up here. If i exchange my currency to euro, its 1300+ for asus and MSI cards LOL. Fuck nvidia, i'll stay on my 3070ti. I could afford it, but i wont

Wtf did I bought 5700x3d yesterday and more ram to replace my 3700x … if the 5070ti was not available for one second just now on release ? The one I saw was 1300$ …. And only 5080 available is 1700$
Man PC gaming sucks ass.

Well at least I will have new cpu… for no reason

You just implied yesterday there was no way you were getting this GPU

What a joke.
I was expecting this to double the performance of my 3080 + unlock the cripling 10gb of vram... it only does the vram part.
It's barely any faster otherwise and it's way more expensive. Would be too expensive even at msrp

Checked Scan.co.uk out of interest and some of them are going for £1000. Not sure who is responsible for that mark up, but they can fuck off. Anyone buying one of those cards for that price is fucking crazy.

Yeah. Not at that money. But for msrp maybe I would under the spur of the moment. At least for FE card... or Zotac. I have a soft spot for Zotac.
What I say =/= not always what I do lol.
I might not like what nvidia is doing and don't agree with them, but that card is still essentially a 16gb 4080 for a better price than 4080 (depends) and my 3080 10gb is so limiting it hurts.
Devs have no idea how to code. Indiana jones goes 1 mb above my vram limit?! BUM 3fps, fuck you. That's awful coding.

So I didn't exactly "want" to get one. I was kinda hoping that MSRP FE would materialize on nvidia website and push me to get it. If you know what I mean :p
It actually seems like a better deal than 5080 since it's like 10-15% slower.
And yes. It's a piece of shit. Maybe for the best that I couldn't get it. But hey - At least 3700x to 5700x3d should be a decent upgrade... right?!

Hell my cpu is from 2019 and gpu from 2020... It's a miracle this thing is still working so well.

3080 was a very good card at the time for the price. 1440p your still going to get good results on a VRR set on high settings for the majority of games. Until you hit ray traced and max settings you should be fine. I thought under 12gb pt didn’t unlock on Indy.

My 3080.. is 10gb launch version. It's a sad card.
another paper launch.
In Poland... Unobtainable card, no FE release at all... 1100 to 1300$ pricing...
Man. Ever since mid-life of 10XX cards and mining crisis... we never had a good gpu launch and prices never fall down.
It's kinda shocking remembering my youth and how easy it was to get 8800gts and buddy got gtx then. it wasn't THAT expensive or hard to get...

you know guys what's funnier?
You can quit pc gaming but pc gaming doesn't quit you.
I am looking at these piece of shit cards that are way overpriced and I still want one. Knowing very well why I soft quitted pc gaming and why I prefer playing on console.
I always had a soft spot for pc... it is still there deep somewhere.

I found a secret website selling these cards no problem.
5070ti is 1100$ and 5080 is 1600$... THEORETHICALLY at these prices.. which one is better to get if one had a 5700x3d and gamed at 4k.... ?

For that price difference, definitely the 5070TI, but you're overpaying (I realise you said that's the norm in Poland but you're paying over 5080FE money to get a 5070).

I suppose that's like that everywhere. nobody getting 5070ti below 1k.
but yeah I agree.
That + physx fiasco... I should wait until I can get a good deal or new cards come out. Or just don't bother with pc gaming

DF 5070ti vid is up.
Turns out it really only is 25-30% faster than my 3080 in real use scenarios. Lol where is double performance as seen in some benchmarks yesterday?!
And how much is 5080 faster than 5080ti?
Man what a complete nonsense of a lineup. 750 (1100$ here) card being, 30% faster than 2020 700$ ram. Granted, better DLSS features and 16gb of vram... Again, the price is an issue here.
I would saym, any 4080 (super or not) is a better buy than both of these cards. I don't think that's too far fetched is it? Especially with physx removed too

Yeah its wild. I scored one at MSRP because I want better RT and DLSS over my 7900xt. The gains gen on gen are really shit.

I almost got one at 749 today, but the stock was gone before I could clear the payment.

I guess my stop-gap 4080 super I got before this shitshow (I was aiming for a 5090) will actually be my new card xD

I was looking at msi ventus at msrp and delayed my decision too long. Now it's gone.
ehhh... maybe for the better. 3080 is not that bad
