Ofc its IGN making that artrocity, i got anecdote to tell u with that:
I follow some small polish yt channel who got free code of DA:V straight from EA, they(its few ppl reacting/gaming/reviewing games) were so hyped for those sheduled 2hours of stream, spent over 30min making ugly af character too, pretended to enjoy the game, laughed and joked, basically made impression game is fun and they enjoy it a lot, then 2h stream ended.
2 weeks after when they do podcast and talk about the game- 2 of the 3 guys saying they didnt even touch it after coz game is so unapealiing, and 3rd guy- big rpg fanatic who played 20h of it, bashes it for basically everything and recommends for every1 to never play it, even on a deep discount.
That is the difference between paid hype aka marketing, just like IGN did, vs actual honest game review, which IGN even cant do since they gave DA:V 9/10.

Expand on why you think pronouns in games don't matter while at the same time games need to include them. Every person who defends it enters this contradictory logic.
We all know why they are there, to normalize gender confusion. Same reason we don't have games promoting self-harm, suicide, etc., because young kids are impressionable by any idea and they can contribute to such behaviors.

My issue with Concord was its sheer genericness and then on top of that they created a hero shooter which had pronouns on the characters. Like pronouns on a robot and not decided etc on an alien.
Being able to choose your pronoun for your character that you are creating is literally RPG and no where near like a studio forcing a pronoun on a robot IMO. Maybe, that's just me.

Concord was generic AF. It flopped, and deservedly so as their focus was more on DEI than the actual game.
Regarding pronouns (in Avowed, Concord, or any other game), the issue is more about the mentality than anything else.
If devs are adding pronouns to the game, it's a (small) red flag. Then we see those developers being completely unhinged on the Internet, talking about making the game only so they could make certain people mad, being openly racist, daring others to see how the 'default' looks like, etc.
At this point, it becomes abundantly clear that the focus of the dev team is on the agenda they want to enforce.

When I switch on a game to get away from this nonsense, you don’t want it shoved in your face there too. All Elon has done, for all his faults, has cottoned on to the fact that the vast majority of people feel this way and is turning it into engagement for his social media company (and made political capital of it), but the issue is there.

Not a single preview of peoples playing dawnshore area has anything remotely agenda or woke. Previews just 3 months ago did not have pronouns in the character sheet. You don’t fundamentally change a game at this stage. If it’s so well hidden in preview or starting area and the cat comes out of the bag at launch, then that’ll be disappointing, but no need to go in fear mongering mode about what the game is based on social media. We can all watch the hours of preview content available thus far.

I am not as hopeful as you are about this.
Do we remember the glowing reviews of Dragon Age Veilguard? The gaming media itself is woke-leaning. They'll never have a negative preview / first impression (which is almost always in a controlled, dev-control environment anyway), only because the game is woke.
Honestly, I wouldn't put too much stock in previews, especially regarding the woke / anti-woke thing. No journalist would even mention it.

This is still one Lunatic at a studio. Maybe they are all like that, maybe they arent. His art work is pretty damn incredible so it sucks that he has done this to himself and the game but I refuse to write off an RPG game because there is one image of a pro noun selector for your character, when so many games have this now. It doesnt bother me, or remove my excitement in the slightest.
In the 20 hour preview videos I have watched, not one person has mentioned a quest line in helping an LGBTQ+ character find their sexual orientation, or help find their gay partner a gift / way to ask them out. I haven't seen any Barvs being pulled out.
There is no inkling, to what I have seen of this being another DA:V situation. If any one else has evidence of otherwise I am open to look at it and cuss this game out.
We should absolutely insult and call for the head of this idiot of an art director but as I mentioned, the game looks awesome to me after the previews and I am not going to support the destruction of a game that shows no signs of DEI outside of a pronoun selector.

It’s not a preview where the footage to be used is « distributed » and everyone uses the snippets given by the dev. They captured it. Assuredly someone would have juicy footage by now if it was like Dragon age veilguard.

In fact, with Avowed being neutered for sex, which is a « downgrade » compared to typical cRPG, it might be refreshing for one and be less woke. Companions all chasing you for any friendly interaction is annoying as fuck, these systems are always jank.

There's multiple pieces of evidence that he isn't the only one on the team sharing this mentality. The fact that he still has his job and continues to say similar stuff with such impunity - and has been for years - is a testament to that fact.
But I don't think there's any point in discussing this preemptively in such detail.
Funnily enough, Obsidian's last game, The Outer Worlds, literally has a mission that is about helping two LGBTQ+ lovers. And that game came way back in 2019, when this DEI woke shit wasn't even as pronounced.
I can only imagine the kind of things they'd be openly doing this time around.

As opposed to buying it day one, yeah playing it on GamePass because SBI is involved is a step down. And if SBI were involved with Avowed then I wouldn’t be buying it day one, either. THAT would be a double standard or hypocritical take. Not buying a game because of SBI and the effect they have proven to have on games is one thing. Not buying into some low IQ warrior’s “woke virus” or whatever mentality because of a pronoun on a screen is not the same thing.

He poured money into the project got the engineers to work this shit out, he didnt actually build the rocket nor did he code its ability to land itself, the idea is genius, the money is nice, the engineers get near no credit for their actual input.
I dont want to sell him short, yes, he is a smart man, but no these rockets arent his work, they are his idea along with all the people in the project.
The Thomas Edison analogy is actually quite accurate.
Theres an interview with Niel Degrass Tyson where he explains quite well why the private sector doing this things is basically an extension of what government orgs start, at some point government just doesnt give a shit and stops working on things, then the private sector can take over, hire people who are ex NASA and other space programs cuz you can afford them, if he did these rockets in his backyard we would be much more impressd.
P.S I dont hate Elon Musk or have much of an opinion on him, but lets not act like the guy is literally building these projects solo.
Money makes the world go round, and he can borrow alot of it.

Even if that were true, so what? Let’s pretend that Elon has no engineering knowledge whatsoever, that the “only” things he did were to run the Tesla business, keep it funded (and almost lose his ass doing so), then eventually turn the company around and make widespread electric cars a reality + make Tesla the most valuable car company on earth.
That’s still a MASSIVE achievement that very few people would ever be able to achieve. Not to downplay the importance of brilliant engineering but it takes a hell of a lot more than that to create a successful tech company.

Yeah....I tend to agree. Obviously the guy is brilliant on many levels, but I think we are getting a bit hyperbolic suggesting Elon Musk is on the level of the top rocket scientists on planet Earth. Ultimately, while he seems to have impressive knowledge about damn near everything, his true brilliance is in business and he can afford to hire the top minds in the world no matter what venture he takes on.
