Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer World Premiere Coming August 11, 2014

Seems like shit. Doesn't matter what the objective is or what toys they add because it all comes down to running around the map in a circle without rhyme or purpose , having a Quickdraw contest to anybody you randomly bump into around a corner and hoping you're not shot in the back the entire time.

The devs need to learn the basics because these matches don't look like warfare, they look like what would happen if you gave weapons to all the inmates of an insane asylum.
Best description of this game I've seen so far... You just forgot to add the soldiers look like ninja turtles wearing that exoskeleton

I feel like the campers will struggle more in this game because they aren't able to just focus on one or two entry points to a room but the roof and more in many locations. But then the short TTK makes it hard to avoid and outmaneuver if they catch you from the back or side. So who knows.

And yet, for all of the things that Treyarch introduced to the series, the basic core mechanics are all still inherited from the former IW's games.

Can you actually name a franchise that has coninued on for years that actually feels fresh and unique mechanically in comparison to its predcessors?

I would like to hear your opinion of franchises as large as CoD that actually DO feel fresh and unique each and every iteration as your comment leads me to believe you seriously think most sequels are completely different from there predecessors except for CoD.

Damn near perfect description of ghosts, and maybe advanced warfare.

Run around the outside until you bump into somebody. Hopefully you see their back, and they don't see yours.

That's a problem for "stationary" campers. Not the "Ghost" campers. Wait for someone to came, kill them from side/behind, move to another spot and repeat. With so many directions to die from, you will have no fucking clue where to look and be able to move / avoid. At least with stationary campers, you know where they are and can deal accordingly. So, your only option is to do the same.

Nope.

When it comes to CoD multiplayer -

CoD 4: A
Excellent maps, excellent weapon balance, killstreaks weren't the priority, simple and clean fun. Good spawns. Killing and dying felt smooth and fair.

CoD Black Ops: A
Great maps, excellent weapon variety and balance, tons of customization, perks were balanced, killstreaks were fun to use. Great spawns. Best firefight gameplay in the series.

CoD 2: B+
Good maps, realistic weapon variety, sniping was way too OP. Good spawns. Tons of weapons that drop you fast, deaths seemed fair.

CoD MW2: C
Okay maps, decent weapon variety, bad weapon balancing, shift to killstreaks mattering a lot more. Good spawns. Die really fast.

CoD MW3: C
Good and terrible maps, weapon variety was really dull, good weapon balancing. The start of terrible spawning. Die even faster.

CoD Ghosts: C-
Good maps mixed in with the worst maps in the series, good weapon variety, really bad weapon balancing, nerfed killstreaks, worst hitboxes/latency in the series, worst spawns in the series, die the quickest. When the game works like it should fightfights and combat are really satisfying.

CoD 3: D (Couldn't connect to matches)

CoD WaW: D
Just felt like swimming in mud.

This shit is so funny lmao.

Guys! Call of Duty hasn't changed in 10 years! It's been exactly the same game!

"But but what about the branching story path, different periods, pick 10, score streaks, campaign, co-op and-"

Nope. Call of duty has been the same game. For 10 years. No change.

"Well it's still a solid shooter right?"

Nope. It's a bad game. Terrible.

"But then whys it so popular? Why does it get good reviews?"

Nope. Bad game. Bad game is bad game because I say its a bad game.
the ones you saw in this new trailer might be actual changes. adding a zombie mode (lol), some more customization and new straeks doesn't mean that the game isn't copy-pasted. everyone buys the same game every year so why even bother adding new meaningful stuff.
story path? Lol, did they even add stuff to the campaign? They should just remove the whole thing and focus only on the multiplayer, cod has some of the worst if not the worst sp campaigns that a shooter could get.

"But then whys it so popular? Why does it get good reviews?"
seriously? "if a game is popular and gets good reviews it must be a great game duh!", are you new to the videogames industry son?

but hey, whatever, I'm done arguing here. enjoy your yearly turd.

The TTK is utterly ridiculous. Near instant death.
Trouble is you really need to play it to get a good feel for TTK. There is only fractions of a second difference in TTK between the games in the series.

Here's two graphs which show the average of the mid-point TTK of each full auto AR and SMG.

BO2 is the slowest and also has an identical TTK between AR and SMG - balanced indeed and you can see why BO1 was full of the Famas, AUG and Galil! Of course these are theoretical TTKs based on the weapon stats and don't take into account accuracy and recoil of guns which might mean whilst you could down someone with 3 bullets in a row chances are you'll miss most of them thanks to recoil etc...

60 FPS isn't something they typically need to announce. It's kinda their calling card.

Resolution doesn't make sense at a multiplayer conference.

But they always mention 60fps, even last year... what if, the last gen versions are 30fps?

How is this worked out? What ranges? Silencers? etc.

Well they did say 'current gen of the focus' months back
So yeah last Gen will probably be 30

Sledgehammer aren't developing the PS3/360 versions of the game, so they probably aren't too concerned with it. I'd still think that they'll target 60fps. Of course you can expect some really nasty image quality in order for them to achieve that if Ghosts was anything to go by.

Standard gun, no attachments. It uses the mid-point of the minimum TTK (ie point blank) and maximum TTK (ie furthest range) of each full auto gun then averages those all up, so is an average of the averages so should give a good feel for how the game was overall.

Well that was... Boring?

This must be the general consensus, right?

Looks like a last gen shooter with a bit more mobility

I'm not saying this to start a comparison war or anything, but straight up mechanics-wise, this is doing more new/interesting things to me than Destiny. Not saying either is a better or worse game, but showing me a trailer for this, and a trailer for Destiny (and having no prior knowledge of either game), I'd probably be more stoked on this.

nope. some of us are hyped about this :P

yup. destiny crucible played like halo with ads and super meter. so far cod has me way more excited. i'm getting destiny for the co-op/campaign.

Looks like fun to me. Didn't buy the ones after black ops (and didn't like that much). But this i can get excited about.
Lots of people here seem like they rather play another kind of shooter. That's fine. I can enjoy those too. But this looks fun. Constant mayham and action.

Except it ignores things like recoil and rapid fire.

what FPS game doesn't boil down to "running around the map in a circle without rhyme or purpose , having a Quickdraw contest to anybody you randomly bump into around a corner and hoping you're not shot in the back the entire time." That's what makes call of duty fun. The developers don't need to fix anything. If you want a real warfare game go play ARMA 2 or Operation flashpoint? No one wants that realistic nonsense in COD.

I can't speak about other multiplayer franchises because COD is about the only series I buy regularly for multiplayer, and I suppose there isn't much point in naming single player games when we're talking about multiplayer. Nonetheless, like I said, I think what Advanced Warfare is doing is a decent compromise between shaking things up a bit and maintaining the essence of the franchise. It would be nice to see Treyarch and the current Infinity Ward trying changes in that vein.

Does it matter to you so much?

It's not the "general consensus", no.

Getting convinced that there is no such thing as: "Next-Gen gameplay."

Like people keep saying: "It doesn't look next-gen enough, oh it's last-gen."

What do you mean!? That it's gameplay is like a game from last-gen, if so, who cares? Are Platformers "last-gen gameplay"?

Ugh, it just annoys me...

This is actually what I was thinking during the trailer. And I love Destiny!

Wish Destiny utilized its scifi-ness more. Bungie games always seem to put the majority of the SciFi in the aesthetic and not the gameplay.

Damn, I really wish those boost dodge and boost slam maneuvers were in TF to be honest. Definitely would have added more movement variety outside of wall running.

The knocking the new COD bandwagon is such a bore.

No substantial criticisms, just wanting everyone know that their not sheeple that will buy into this year's 'scam'.

I wish this thread was actually full of people discussing what was shown and not just drive-by comments about how the COD series is C+P'd.

I think the multiplayer looks solid and fun, it's fast paced and the customisation looks great. This is the first COD I'm looking at buying after MW2.

Was kind of hoping for something more... fresh? I don't know, the e3 singleplayer demo looked alright to me but this looked a lot like same old. Looks a lot better than ghost though

I agree with most people, can we stop just hating on the game because it is the cool thing to do? This game looks different and fun.

I enjoy the customization piece. But I am confused about where I should pre-order to get the most bang for my buck

I was expecting to be blown away by graphics. It doesn't look like the SP and MP were developed using the same engine. MP looks like it is still running on the old source engine...

Exactly. The last time I was a big fan of Call of Duty was before MW2, though I was okay with that one. After viewing this trailer, I was expecting this thread to be fillled with people being surprised at how much more fun and interesting it looks than most other COD games. I wonder how this trailer would have fared if it was the exact same footage but not a part of the COD franchise...

Nope.

Played CoD 3 nonstop for 2 years without a single joining issue. It also happened to be the best in the series as far as multiplayer goes. Shame you couldn't connect.
