I highly doubt Capcom is going to list just physical in a report like this.
If you could read the spoilers breaking the numbers down, you'd see that yes, those numbers in the title are physical only, yet the second section (convienitly not talked about by certain individuals) shows PC has sold over 21 million copies of whatever Capcom published game this quarter compared to 19 million for ALL THREE consoles combined digitally.

Why talk out your ass? The shelf space in JB & EB is the exact same as Sony.

The bulk of Xbox sales are digital the bulk of xboxs can’t even do physical, only 1 in 10 is physical on sales from numerous reports so if we want to go off those stats capcom still would have sold at least 1m titles digitally on xbox with 200,000k physical.
Not where I live. JB and EB have next to nothing these days. When did you last check?

In the UK, GAME’s boxed game section is fairly equal for PlayStation and Switch.

The Xbox section has been moved to a small corner while the previous Xbox section (which used to be an entire wall) has been replaced by Lego.

It reminds me of how Saturn and Dreamcast were when they were on their last legs, just a single rack at the back.

Let's just say certain people tend to lie around here.
Indeed, which why he is trolling PC in the first place. Plenty of it happens the other way around, especially since the PS5 Pro hit the scene.

OT: Nothing unexpected when you see the financials of other 3rd party companies.

This isn't just because there are less xboxs. Weren't we told Xbox gamers are more hardcore so even though there's less of them, they spend more?

The truth is given the size of the Xbox player base, the split shouldn't be this bad. Xbox gamers have been conditioned not to buy games. Publishers can't win. They cry about exclusives but don't buy the games when they come.

You are a very bad person, you break the narrative if you point out that they are physical data🤷🏻..... Understand that with that data they can ask Capcom to only make exclusive games because even PC sells much less than XBOX.🤷🏻😅

We got leaked numbers for many Capcom games such as Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney (both digital and physical). It isn't looking good for Xbox.

There is a reason many games skip the Xbox platform. Even with digital, Xbox is in a distant 4th place behind PS, PC and Switch when it comes to total software sales.

Also don't include Xbox and PC in the same sentence. Do not shame the PC platform :messenger_grinning_sweat:.

Lol no, you can say better that there's a reason why fewer and fewer games skip Xbox and this is being the generation where more games ( and by a long way) of all genres and origins are coming to an Xbox console... to the annoyance of many.

And for your information, games are not released on any platform if it wasn't profitable doin It 😉

PS. I mentioned PC because the OP is the one who preferred not to include it because it would destroy his narrative if he pointed out that it was physical data when Xbox is 91% digital. But hey!, there is no need to be so hurt 👍

I don't think this is a true statement, during 360 era all multiplats were releasing on Xbox plus some 3rd party exclusives! Now .. I have seen lots of PS5+PC or PS5+PC+Switch only games.

Well, and yet that's the reality.

During the X360 generation (even more so during XBO) many, many sagas and series of great franchises and IPs skip Xbox and yet this generation are being launched day one. The list is endless.

When the news is usually that some retro compilation or super niche game (which even end up being launched too) skip Xbox or some game (counting the games on one hand) delays the launch... That should say it all.

I invite you to check out the thread on Era about Asian games coming to Xbox. I never imagined that so many super niche games could be launched on Xbox. To the point that I myself am surprised by the suitability of launching some of them but these are still launched🤷🏻

And I repeat, no publisher releases games on any platform unless it is profitable to do so in one way or another or for one reason or another.

Like so many other pubs, the situation is clear. Xbox has lost its way. Physical, digital, no matter. It's become that "small corner of the Earth" platform and wouldn't surprise me to see pubs skip it altogether going forward, moneyhats or otherwise.

Is this physical and digital. Those pc numbers don't look right?
The PC numbers are physical. But that disclaimer on the OP is only for PC. So anyone's guess whether the entire data is physical only or not.

But it seems odd to only point out that PC data is physical if everything is also physical.

That may very well be true, but how are you concluding that this Xbox data is physical only? Where did you see it? I haven't seen that disclaimer anywhere.

Yeah, while physical numbers are atrocious it is a bit better with digital. So it makes sense for Capcom or port their larger games.
That's ~ 2.33m from multiple games across Xbox One / One X & Xbox Series X/S so it's still a question of what's the return on investment.

How about in the same table where they include PC with 40K units and where PS5 and Switch are also included, could it be that Xbox was the only one that only included data on physical boxes?? 🤷🏻🙃

Not to mention that if those numbers included digital they would be strangely low for Capcom's records. Which we know they don't.

Oh, for sure. This why I mentioned that it makes sense to bring larger games. That said, numbers must work since Capcom is even bringing most retro collections over.

Easier to look at this way

This is wrong, these numbers are for PHYSICAL game sales only. And most PS and Xbox and specially PC game sales are digital. And then there's the digital game addons on top.

When adding digital game and addon sales, PC makes around half of their game revenue.

This tracks with some publishers seriously thinking of dropping Xbox below Switch 2 in terms of importance in the second half of this gen. Switch 2 will have a larger install base than Series within 18 months.

It's obviously physical because the first set of number and the second set don't match. Unless you think Sega master system is killing it in moving software units.

Xbox barely has a shelf in a lot of stores in Australia, this was meant to be one of their popular locations.

I heard this was the same for a lot of places in the world.
Yeah Aussieland was always an Xbox stronghold but you guys have straightened out recently.

To provide some extra content for those who don't know it:

We have to consider that Capcom's important shipments are the digital ones, not the physical ones. Capcom's game units shipped this quarter:
  • PC digital game units 54%
  • Console digital game units 40%
  • PC+console physical game units 6%

https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data/pdf/explanation/2024/2nd/explanation_2024_2nd_01.pdf

This year 2024 (not the quarter), 90.1% of Capcom's game shipments are digital, only 9.9% are physical. For the year, Capcom units shipped by platform in 2024:

TOTAL physical + digital = 45,893,000 units (100%)
TOTAL digital = 41,352,000 units (90.1%)
TOTAL physical = 4,541,000 units (9.9%)

Physical game unit shipments split into:
PS (physical only) = 3,078,000 units
Nintendo (physical only) = 1,210,000 units
Xbox (physical only) = 206,000 units
PC + others (physical only) = 44,000 units

PC outselling all three consoles combined? Think they will be happy with their choice - in fact I think Capcom is the model they are following.
