OK so here is my video that people were asking about in the previous thread.

This is me playing the Control game type in the Crucible and sucking at it.

Please feel free to have a look and see if you can figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Just from watching a little bit, I think you're not paying enough attention to your radar. It's so useful. You have to use that to predict where your enemies are coming from and then have enough map knowledge to target the exact door they come out of, which gives you the shortest possible reaction time to blast them before they can blast you.

Yeah watching a bit more, you can see some of the enemies on the radar are even full red, yet you don't turn around to face them.

Also, I don't know about shotguns but on most guns you always want to hit L2 and aim down sights because the auto-aim seems to get amped up, the damage increases, and its easier to hit headshots.

Heavy ammo, if you die you lose it, so you might as well change to it and use it immediately.

That's nothin, I got a Doctor Nope as a engram reward for leveling up that area. 300 attack, 72 Magazine. Literally melts enemies. I don't even have to try when I get the first shot on someone in crucible. Just stand there and quickly spray the gun back and forth based on their movement. I just watch the health bar drain.

Crap, and here I was using my 28 mag gun thinking im the shit. Seriously, I need a better weapon.

bummer. That sucks but you'll be ready to go for next week. Have to start grinding for some coins now lol.

I wish crucible mark cap reset quicker, I want to buy the rest of my gear now.

Just reached 20, now to do the Strikes! Done all the story quests (Prologue?), and done the first two strikes.

Hopefully I can start finding some better gear; I'm still rocking some Uncommons.

Let's get these two things out of the way with the new thread.

I had a 150/1 k/d and didn't get anything but a stupid n00b with a .00001 k/d got an exotic weapon. WTF!

Random loot isn't given out based on your kills or score. Its given out randomly for playing the game. Congrats on your k/d but it doesn't matter when it comes to loot in the crucible. Temper your expectations, don't expect loot rewards based on your l33t skillz.

I got a legendary purple engram and it ended up being a rare/mote of light/wrong class. WTF!

Don't get your hopes up when it comes to purple engrams, they are slot machines. Based on my experience (around 15 engrams) 40%* ended up being rare. Some of the remaining % of is taken up by rare materials like motes of light or strange coins. Let's say 20%*. That leaves 40% for you to get a piece of armor or new weapon. The weapons can be used across all classes, so your chances are much better to get a legendary when it comes weapons as opposed to armor. Therefore, purple weapon engrams are more promising. However, if you have a purple armor engram, your chances of it being a legendary for the class your using are fairly low (cut that remaining 40% down by 66%). If you want guaranteed armor, level up your crucible/vanguard rank and you can buy some. Don't bank on purple engrams.

*these percentages are completely anecdotal. I'm also no sure if/how cryptarch rank effects engrams

Yup.

The two best engrams I've gotten (One being a legendary) were two of the matches I sucked balls and finished dead fucking last in the match.

The matches I have over a 4 or 5 K/D... nothing.

ok, good point. I've never not had enough to do that just from playing though. So it seems it "safe" to splurge on the cosmetic stuff without the risk of missing out on something good.

The only other thing you could need it is for ammo synthesis. With the Hunger modifier it makes that the enemy never drops weapons for what you are using. (So if you are killing them with an auto rifle, you will never get primary ammo drop. Etc)

So I've been doing PvE only. I don't really play MP so I'm not interested. But I have some questions.

Context: Level 24 Titan - Striker subclass maxed - Halfway through Defender subclass

1. Am I missing out on anything? It says rewards are things like crucible gear for the salvage stuff, that wouldn't be usable in PvE right?

2. What do the factions provide to PvE? It seems they work just like the Vanguard sellers in the tower but you need crucible rep to get crucible only items.

3. Would the only thing I'm missing out on be the gear won at the end of a round that is usable for PvE?

I just want to make sure I can keep ignoring it bc I have no interest.

I've just made it to lvl19 and I gotta say I am loving Destiny, especially the multiplayer. I really did find though that once I started ignoring Peter Dinklage and the whole ridiculous story it was a lot more pleasant. The story and cutscenes are severely detrimental to the game and I think it would have been way better if they just didn't bother with them at all.

Well firstly you're gonna have a lot of issues regularly running round with that shotgun in the open areas of the level. You need to make sure you're equipped for long range when you're at risk of being attacked from long range. The biggest problem I can see though is you regularly forget to check the radar and end up getting sprung, that radar is your second set of eyes. Make sure to keep an eye on it at all times and learn the routes the enemy may be coming from with the little hint the radar provides. Stick with that and make sure to be ready for them and the K/D ratio will start climbing.

Also, didn't watch all of it so couldn't check if you were sticking the golden rule but always shoot for the head. I see lot of people in PvP wasting time shooting for the body just to be outgunned by the guy who shot second but for the head instead.

well, went in blind to the moon strike and had one guy drop out on us... but finished anyways!

I feel like the enemy count scales. Same thing happened to me yesterday, and when there were 2 of us, not a single wizard spawned during the boss fight. Both times after when I did it with 3, there were wizards like WOAH.

I only made it through the first minute

You are WAAAY too far away from your enemies to be using a shotgun, you have to get in a lot closer than that.

You look like you enjoy sitting in open areas, so use an assault or pulse rifle so you can get better range.

Stop leaving your teammates. Stick close to them as you make your way around the map.

It seems like it would be a pretty minor tweak but I honestly don't know how this stuff works.

I asked because it should be one of the first waves of patches, you can't have a social area where you can't socialize.

Plus it would help with the longevity of the game, people are social creatures

Yeah, how the hell am I gonna do that when the last several matches have been nothing but Warlocks and Hunters. Hell, I was the only Titan on either teams for many of those matches.

And in all of them, I dominated, coming out on top. ;)

From what I can tell your using your shotgun exclusively even at far away distances. You should really be switching between your gun according to the situation. You also don't seem to be paying much attention to your radar and there was a moment where you got shot by and enemy while heading toward another objective and you didn't even really react. Also you absolutely need to use the supercharge for your class when you get it.

I would first start using the sprint button a bit more as you're walking around at a slow pleasant pace at the moment which means its taking you ages to actually get to an objective.

Change up your weapons depending on the situation as you kept using your shotgun to shoot at players way too far off should have swapped to your main gun. Also go and try to capture the control points as that's where all the players will be heading as you were hiding behind a box with a shotgun for about a good 2 minutes or so.

Also use your radar a lot more it really helps you by showing you where the opposing team is.

guys, I got a problem. Not sure if it's ISP or something else. Testing connection etc. everything's fine on my Xbox One. Ports on the router are opened, yet I get issues like empty tower, can't find Crucible game, Strikes starts solo... I don't know what to do :/ happened yesterday and happens again today.

any words of advice?

edit.

congrats on OT3 btw - you guys are awesome.

Ah, new thread smell.

edit- Looking over the last couple of pages, I see that the title was changed. WTF at the original title, that was pretty dumb.

Yeah, I'll just pick something up on Friday - might be a Gunslinger spec piece next time, which I've been thinking I want to switch over to anyway. Seems like everyone is Bladedancer now.

Crucible gives you gear at the end of the match. I find it gives you more consistantly GOOD gear than PvE. You have a much better chance of getting good gear at the end of a match than you do in 15 minutes of farming.

Gear won in crucible can be equipped like any other gear.

Factions let you earn faction currency to be used exclusively at that faction, but stop earning vanguard currency.

Got my first Legendary engram last night around 3am... Was so excited to finally gear my Titan with a kickass piece of gear. But I knew the odds... So I was holding my breath as I decoded it.

Got a Legendary piece for a lvl 20 Hunter. :/

Not sure if that's better or worse than it turning into a Rare, lol.

Having a blast in crucible. They really missed out on properly rewarding you with loot though; good performance should amount to a better probability of gear. That could have been Bungie's new "ranking" system.

Think about it this way, when you begin your second character, say Hunter, you don't need to grind for a legendary armor for that class. Already got two legendary pieces for a Hunter (chest and helmet)

Off topic, but question for you. I seen earlier you were able to get the Hawkmoon from a legendary engram. What level were you when you had it decrypted? Also, how is it in pvp?

Hey guys, just a couple of questions for anyone who wants to answer them :)

Are you finding yourself playing less after level 20? Why or why not?

What is your goal in Destiny?

Appreciate it.
