It might be more of a Capcom thing. This and RE Directors Cut are the only classics that you simply cannot purchase. It sucks. Would love to have both.
A Haunting Ground remake would be a lot more interesting imo, so there's so little to DC1 that a remake would have to be basically an all new game, raisin the question why not make a new game or pick a worthier ip.
I can't emphasize how shallow the game's story is, it never even bothers to name the organization/country/whatever Dr Kirk is working for, so a remake would be close to having to do a from the ground up game, I can kinda see now why capcom doesn't seem to care.

I think the enthusiasm was driven by jawmuncher or whatever his name was. If Capcom revived the IP it has tremendous potential IMO, they just need to make something good like DC2. DC1 & 3 suck

Regina would be sexy in RE engine though.
The way people talk about it, you'd think it was, but it might be the weakest of the Capcom classic horror games.
I emulated DC2 a long time ago, I do remember it being a big improvement.
Shadow of Rome and Bionic Commando Xbox 360 are also stuck on older systems. I know people were mixed on the latter, but I enjoyed the title for what it was.
DC2 was... good but pretty much a RE Battle mode type of game. It did work since it differentiated from main RE games unlike DC1. But I still prefer the first game. The PS1 version of DC1 sits on good scores, the game was reviewed very well.
DC3, lol. I did buy it on Xbox when it launched and it -should- be available just for preservation. I think a tweaked version could actually work. The camera ruined what could've been a decent space horror shooter.
So I did a run on PS5. I mixed it up a bit. Usually I went for the best ending and ignored the destination. This time I chose for Gail each time, and went to the destination room at the end.
this ends at the Port, with the Hovercraft, and Gail dies. The hovercraft ending is the best I think, Regina kills the T-Rex with a C4 while saying he's extinct. Its better than the other with the bomb drop.
Its a great game, really. I couldn't stop playing. did use the rewind feature a few times, but only when I took a wrong turn or something and didn't want to see the door scene again etc. Or when I mixed wrong. Its a great feature for these games though, just rewind when you fuck up or you don't like something. I wish that existed in 1999, heh.
Some things are baffling, these guys have hi tech gear but scanning notes isn't possible, they don't take memos with them at all. You need to remember passwords. I always found this an odd decision. But overall its probably designed to be a bit harder and confusing than RE. The puzzles are tougher, and with Gail route you will skip some of them. The enemies are tougher in DC than in RE, but there are far less. And they are quite easy to just ignore. Plus, you can make quite a bit of poison darts for one hit kills. And there are 5 continues, and many, many revive items (you absolutely shouldn't need and instead use them to make poison darts). Both spawn you in front of the door where you died. You can really waste everything, the final fight needs only like 3 or 4 nades and you get 9.
Its a bit more confusing overall, its not always clear where you need to go and you can't always see the objects you need to interact with. But the facility is actually relatively small. The combat is also quite a bit worse despite the fact you can aim and walk (but not shoot, lol). The handgun is only useful from behind lasers, or against those minis, the shotgun and nade launcher are pretty much identical. Darting them is the most fun and efficient. But you barely need to fight. You can beeline through everything and find/make so many heals that this is a really viable strategy as well. The mixing is also confusing. What you want to do, is aim for poison darts. You need Tranq darts for this (find, or mix 2 An.Aid), and mix them with An.aid which goes to M++, then L++ and then mix with a Resurrection item. But, the sorting of items is great because it makes 3/3 of the same darts right?. Well its fucked up. You have 3/3: L++ darts and you go mixing, you will lose all of them by making a poison dart. Always use when you have 1/3, if you have more, just use them on dinos while advancing, and use the last one to craft poison. So never be sorting items.
