There's a very good chance Austin simply has better a better long term cost projection compared to Edmonton to the bean counters.

Their current location is not cheap, and economically I believe the USA is better off then Canada if they are at the point where they might have to close one studio.
Off topic: Well Pres Trump joke around that he wants Canada to be 51st state of USA maybe due to frustration about Canada's failure in its policies on drugs smuggling and immigration and even threatening USA with gas embargo. Well if its true, then the silver lining about that is the end of Canada's twisted dei and woke policies. I will not even be shock if majority of Canadians wants to be the 51st state of USA. Just saying.

Off topic: That's subjective. I love the characters and I want to know more about there back story. For me the story and lore was good and interesting especially if you carefully read all the memory stick, journal and listen carefully to the conversations and sidequest. I actually appreciated the story more on my 2nd and 3rd playthrough. And most of all the graphics is beautful and the combat is excellent, fast but still tactical and precise without being to difficult.
Just to be clear here. Did you play any of the previous Dragon Age games?

Prepare to be shocked - I haven't heard a single person in Canada say they want to be the 51st state. Some of the things Trump mentioned need to be looked at, but that's another matter entirely. As well, many of Canada's DEI polices are likely to be modified or dropped as soon as the next national election occurs. We're in the same boat as the States - correction is needed and it will very likely result in a Conservative party victory.

Edit: Here's some more concrete info.:

Dragon age 2 for PS3. I did not finish the game. I'm not even at 50% of the game. I got more hooked with Uncharted 1-3, Ni no kuni, Bioshock series and MGS 4 for Ps3.

Riiight. So you didn't play Origins. Or pretty much the other games either (2 is the shortest by far). And have no grander idea of the lore (which is just skin-deep in Veilguard). Figures.

SmashJT is like nails on a chalkboard to me. The guy's voice scratched my retinas when I watched a video of his. I don't know if he's right or not.
No matter what content he promotes I dont watch his vids. Have tried a few times. The way the guy talks seems like he's always yelling. Terribly hard Youtuber to listen to.

I thought the thread title was a vicious attack, but it was actually a self description of Corinne.

The news isn't surprising. As a creative business Bioware inevitably had to re-evaluate quite a few things after the criticisms and overall under-performance of Veilguard.

Hard to believe I'm writing these words, but here it goes: It's time for me to say goodbye. Today is my last day at BioWare and EA.

After so much contemplation, I've decided to pursue a new challenge and a new project, doing what I love most—making RPGs. It wasn't an easy decision, as I mean it when I say I love BioWare, the Dragon Age team, and what we've all accomplished together. My time with all of you has been the highlight of my career.

I want to offer my personal thanks to each of you. For your trust, your companionship, and for the many ways in which you've inspired me and helped me grow. I'll be eagerly waiting to see what great experiences you create next, and as a fan, I'll be rooting for you!

If I can leave you with any advice, it is this: We all know making games is hard. It's part of why we do it. But making games is also about the people and the reliance we have on one another. So take the time to celebrate the wins and lift each other up. The challenge and the work will always be there, but the moments we have with each other are precious and few.

Let's stay in touch!

Corinne
This is what was the main problem in Veilguard: it's all so perfectly sanitized, there are only happy thoughts. I cannot even hold it against her (let's go with that, I don't care), but there should have been someone supervising this shit. In BG3 your companions can murder one another, you can commit acts of unspeakable horror, nothing of this sort in Veilguard.

Someone did an interview with her and the interview was 100% focused on her feelings as a trans person - nothing about the setting, the systems, etc. It was all about her.

Maybe the next Mass Effect has a chance to be decent after all.

I doubt it. These people can't get out of their own way. Their ideologies trump logic. Take for example the whole feminist "male gaze is bad" bullshit that was present even back in Andromeda. Does anyone truly believe the next Mass Effect will be populated with good looking women like the original trilogy?

He is never getting another opportunity to direct another AAA again. This was his first and last. He failed.
I don't believe it, at least not for a few more years until shareholders decide enough is enough, but even then we will see games like dustborn, funded with European money.

I'd bet she will find a new job soon, with like minded people who cheered during the push ups cutscene, because the industry has still people like them in hiring positions.

I'm specifically referring to helming a AAA budget game. Director position.

I'm not sure I believe the Bioware Edmonton part, isnt that the main studio? whats left, Austin? to handle the next Mass Effect, for which there is an upcoming series from Amazon. I would take this with a huge grain of salt.
Lets say for some miracle they finally identified that the DEI malpractices are the problem and decided to clean house... they enter the studio look around and it just look like any californian college campus ... its all green hairs and soy latte boys ... at this point what there is to salvage ? .. pick the few talents they can and nuke the whole thing...

Don't be fooled, there's a million filters / airbrush layers happening in that 2022 picture. People don't randomly change in skull size, bone structure and skin complexion by taking some hormone poppers.
No I meant that they most likely had a surgery, the chin looks modified on the 2021 photo already. Just for example.

However filters is something I didn't considered. I also know that whole appearance of face shrinks with hormones, but it takes at least 5 years, not to this extent tho.
