Wouldn't take his word for it. He is one of those who blows things out of proportion.

There was this weird little plateau today. Any ideas? I swear this was during Biden’s speech. Or maybe there was an update or something. I’m choosing to believe the former until proven otherwise.

A lot of you guys are missing out. I'm 23 hours in and yeah the story and acting ain't the best but the visuals are great on PC and it runs like a dream. And the combat is top tier for me.

It gets so crazy, and some of the mini bosses (Champions) are legit hard. You have so many options in combat and you can tailor your companions to your needs to. It really is a top tier action game. Definitely the best combat I've played in a while. Don't let the internet fool you, the game is great and 23 hours in barely any cringe dei shit.

Even if it's the best game ever from a gameplay perspective I still wouldn't touch it. Some of us have principles/standards.

(not having a go at you personally but man... it's so easy not to give into FOMO and to not buy into shitty propagandized content)

Yeah but it's a shame as there is a great looking and great playing game in there. Maybe when it's super cheap and all the fuss has died down people will give it a chance.

I’m not discounting your opinion here. But I will say that I don’t think people were looking for a top tier action game with Veilguard. They wanted a top tier RPG.

That dude used to make yt videos like a normal person with even logical takes (by streamers standards) and then realized ragebait videos were so lucrative, he went full tabloide esque with rumors out of his ass presented as facts, it's disgusting, nothing he posts can be checked because he uses twittards takes as news, same with the other idiot grummz or whatever is called, both are just shameless grifters

The game is an absolute disappointment by DA/Bioware standards from 2 gens ago, but you don't need these douches to tell you that crap smells like turds

So are you just avoiding the Taash companion or is there some way early on to just shut down all the non-binary stuff? If you can tell her to "just stick to killing dragons" and she stays quiet after that then that would be good to know.

Pretty much. When I first unlocked her I used her in my party a few times. I havent done her side quest or talked to her since really. Even when I did nothing really weird was said lol. I'm not saying that stuff isn't in the game but it's definitely not shoved down your throat like a massive trans dick
😅

Hey now, if there is some FUTA action going on in this game why didn't they lead with that!?!? :p

These types of youtubers are the worst, regardless of agreeing or not with the message they fan the flames and work people up more just to profit off of it. I hate what podcasts and rage baiting online have done to society.

I get the skepticism about Endymion, but fwiw, I've heard similar things from two other YT'rs with their own sources. A lot of people are trading the game in early. I don't find that hard to believe.

Anyone claiming this game "only cost a little over 200 million" is forgetting the last decade they spent on developing all the versions of this until its penultimate release with Veilguard.

Sure the tax gymnastics they have jumped through will help offset a portion (tiny) of that cost but EA would have needed this game to break unit records big time. The $14.99 USD cost for EA All Access (or whatever) is most certainly not going to help either.

Re: Endymion

His takes are reactionary brain rot these days, but what's even worse is the endless repetition of the same point 17x over to pad the video length.

Yeah it's like AI generated content. I keep telling YouTube to stop posting his content in my feed and it doesn't go away, likely because I watch Asmongold clips.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Hardly any. Just wanted to get some screens to show how it looked on Pro. I'll be playing more in a bit. Low expectations for the writing/story, obviously, but I hear the gameplay is good.

If you detach from the online stuff and just play for what it is, it's a pretty good game.

The whole "Barve" stuff doesn't happen until very late into the game anyway, it's not like the game frontloads it, and it's just one specific party member's companion quest line. No other companion / questline has any of that at all.

I have a feeling you're gonna end up enjoying it a lot. I went in with lowered expectations and it's surprising how much fun I'm having playing the game, it's basically what FF16 wanted to do, but done better (i-e an Action RPG which plays more like a character-action game than a traditional RPG). And some of the set piece events are straight out of God of War in terms of scale and scope (and all the Dragons).

The only area I can see you getting bored is that later combat can become a bit repetitive, to which I'd say lower the difficulty so you're not spending more time in combat than you'd like to.

I'll go into it with a fairly open mind. I mean....I can't unsee the stuff I've seen or pretend I don't like what they decided to do, but I said before all that stuff came out that some solid gameplay could help me overlook a lot. We will see.

Anecdotally, I'm seeing a lot of "I played for x hours and had my fill". I assume it's due to the lack of depth and meaningful choices.
The combat is getting really repetitive and the story/dialogue is bottom tier so there's not much going to keep your interest. Only reason I'm still playing it is I have nothing to play until DQ3

This is like next Civilization game comes out and you say "guys I know the gameplay sucks, but trust me this games has some of the best storytelling in 4X strategy games in years"

People play Dragon Age (and Bioware games in general) for the story, the characters, the world building, the meaningful choices. That's the main draw about these games. If I want good combat I will be playing Fromsoft games or actual action games, thank you very much.

As a person who has nevertheless completed this masterpiece of the gaming industry, judging by everything...

1) yeah the story and acting ain't the best

If we take the 3 games in the series that came out before this, they are the worst of everything that came before, despite the fact that DA2 and DAI are also far from being masterpieces, but at least they tried to get into the game's setting. Here we have a complete lack of understanding and respect for the game's setting, events that contradict the game's lore, the main character who is essentially a psychotherapist for his companions and treats them like little children. A complete lack of any kind of choice in the game, all dialogues lead to the same decision (with the exception of 2 moments closer to the end, in the best traditions of Mass Effect 3, when you are actually given the choice of the ending). For some reason, the characters in the fantasy game speak as if they were born in the 2000s in California and drink smoothies for breakfast. I won't even talk about things like Sweet Baby, everyone is tired of them. Although if you make the main character an elf, then he will be ASHAMED throughout the game for what the Elven gods did long ago, and this is the only case when the main character will be offered to REPENT for this, while Bellara also constantly reproaches herself for this... and this is in the world of DA, seriously?I can still understand if people haven't played the previous parts of the game, but forgive me people, what are you just letting dialogues flow past your brain without processing the information? Or do you really not understand what they are trying to shove into your brain in a veiled manner? barely any cringe dei shit...

2) And the combat is top tier for me

A regular combat system, quite superficial to be honest. Apparently they had a lot of God of War fans in the office and they dragged quite a lot. Essentially, endless beating of dumb, identical sponges of opponents. For me, the most annoying moment was probably that they actually removed companions from the game, now they are roughly speaking just skill buttons. It is not bad, it is as casual as possible and fun for the first 4-5 hours, then it gets boring very quickly. There are very few types and varieties of enemies, they are constantly repeating. Perhaps the most striking example (sorry for the spoilers) is the arena quest, there you need to go through 10 fights, "a very exciting quest", where enemies can be repeated simply because there are so few of them in the game.

No one denies the fact that the locations look nice, only the characters turned out badly, they look like characters from Pixar cartoons. Apparently, the quality bar for games, especially RPGs, has fallen so much among players that the main thing is that the picture is nice, the rest is not important. History, dialogues, world, characters, etc. we apparently no longer need in RPGs =). And in general, if this game was not called DA, it would have received its 7 points as a week-long pass, which everyone would then forget. And everything would be calm. But since they decided to make money on the DA brand, then you will get the full consequences. And perhaps the saddest thing in this whole story, before that everyone was worried when DA2 came out and the quality of the game dropped, but they still had hope, then DAI came out and hope had not died yet, but there were already prerequisites for it. Well, now I am practically certain that with the release of this game, the nail was finally driven into the coffin of DA.

This must die so Mass Effect can live.

This is the gangrenous leg that must be removed before the poison gets to the heart.

Mass Effect died with Andromeda, and won't be coming back. Somehow, the lesson that EA learned from that failure was trying the same thing (crap story, RP elements de-emphasized, weird character design that triggers the uncanny valley effect) with another one of their major popular franchises would be a good idea. Creatively, they're more or less cooked.
