What’s the best dps build at the moment?

I was under the impression that gigaflare was quite decent but I don’t see anyone else use it 😂

I struggle to understand what's the point of money in this game. I have 200k and just don't know what to do with them, despite some occasional spending on potions I think I didn't use it at all. They should have made potions craftable and get rid of gold whatsoever.

Yeah man I feel the same way about the materials.

Unless I've completely missed a game system somewhere the only thing I can really craft are weapons and then my 2 armor slots.

And those can only be upgraded a couple times. My mat collection is just wildly outpacing how often I use stuff, and a lot of it seems to never even be used or was used in the beginning of the game but not now and Im still collecting it.

So I feel like I have infinity "sharp fangs" and "bloody furs" or whatever just trash mats that I have no clue what Im supposed to be doing with lol.

I felt the same way until I remembered that I did pretty much every side quest and hunt as soon as they were available, and explored a map when given the opportunity. So I pretty much always had the mats to make the next piece of gear when it became available.

Gigaflare is badass and pretty fun. Its on a fairly quick cooldown for its damage as well, and you can reduce it even more with a trinket.

If I had to guess tho, the rest of his kit is just kinda meh. His circle attack takes wayyyy too long to charge to be useful IMO, despite looking pretty fuckin cool. By the times its charged to an effective level I could have already killed everything twice over.

I still use him sometimes just for Gigaflare. His staggering attack with the little orbs honestly isnt bad.

Might be worth it to just take Gigaflare to mastery level and slot it with another Eikon

Meh Kinda GIF by Cultura

if u are talking about side quest, there is some good ones, the problem is after 70 hours of low to mid side quests i personally don't want to do them anymore, but yes, in the late late late late late late late late late laaaaaaaaate game the quests are way better.

Yeah, the replies to my post saying the late game ones are good are encouraging, but so far I'm on the same boat as the gif.

I don't know if it's the best, but here's what I run:

Phoenix: Will o Wykes, Pile Drive (from Ramuh)
Titan: Raging Fists, Windup
Bahamut: Gigaflare, Lightning Rod (from Ramuh)

Use Will o Wykes + Lightning Rod to chew through stagger, then recast if cooldown is back up and do Raging Fists + Windup + Gigaflare for massive damage. I keep Pile Drive just because it's a quick and easy way to clear crowds of trash mobs.

Every game deals with pacing, especially the AAA games. It’s a hard thing to work around. I don’t generally mind it here and there, because I believe it’s ok for games to have highs and lows. It’s when games add unnecessary padding is when I get annoyed. I haven’t experienced “padding” with FF16, but I’m also super early still.
Well, there's got to be a bit of downtime, it can't be a boss rush but man, some of the tasks they have you doing in this game are ridiculous. They could have easily been swapped with character or world moments but instead it's go here, collect something from X and deliver it to Y.

Basically, you know any mission was shit if it ends in that awkward animation of Clive handing something over. Love how they pulled a Game Freak and cut the camera so they didn't have to animate it.

You can use the Satellite coordinated attack lets you attack even during gigaflare, so it's a nice boost in damage. It's not the most optimal way to play compared to Odin abilities but it's pretty cool.

I can't figure out how to make Odin work, I do way less damage per stagger phase with fully ranked Zantetsuken vs just using Gigaflare.

What's everyone's average completion time?

also, are you guys hitting the level cap in the regular game, or NG+ only ?

What is going on with this game's story? It felt so promising up to Titan and than just took a massive nosedive. Even the dialog has become so boring I find myself internet surfing on my phone during cutscenes. Then if I find out I missed something important I rewatch the scene on YouTube.
I can't get over how much of a joke kupka turned out to be. He turns into a baby. All for showing how much of a manipulative bastard odin's henchman is, who turns out to be a throwaway character anyway. This game is filled with forgettable one dimensional caricatures for characters.

If you always keep your phone in hand while playing video games, I don’t think it’s the game’s fault that you can’t pay attention.

I don't ever do that.

This is the first game I've ever found myself reaching for the phone when there's a long cutscene talking pap.

Just had an amazing part though with an absolutely insane character design. Top tier. I open mouth "shit" at how good it looked.

I finished in 68hrs, that includes completing all side quests and all hunts.

But Im still missing something as completion only shows like 94%. I didnt complete all the time trials so maybe missing some stuff like that.

What a dumbfuck comment is this? He keeps looking the the phone cause some of the content in the game is the most boring pile of shit ever made. Newsflash: it's not the player's job to be engaged.

The issue isn't the content imho, its the delivery. Bits of interaction that would in a text-based game be just a series of dialogue panels that people click through are instead spoken at a natural pace... which takes a whole lot longer.

Next time people bitch about not every bit of dialogue in a game being voiced, bear this in mind!

The 'low budget' cutscenes were something else. But most of the side quests are also painful to endure. Especially for someone like me that didn't really like the combat. It never really picks up in depth or challenge.

This! They could have made blade dance more useful than just filing up the zantetsuken bar. All it does is tickle most enemies.
What? I average 200k damage during a stagger without trying with only Zantetsuken and Gigaflare as my main damaging abilities.

Edit,
What are you guys doing? Seriously. I just read this as people being bad at video games.

Doesn't sound like you enjoyed any part of the game. Which is unfortunate, but not everyone had that experience thankfully!

Share your setup please :), I'm admittedly bad but really liked the combat and wanna go for my leftover hunts and ng+

Hugo Kupka
. The boss felt like a difficult exam for everything I've learned so far and I had to be on point with almost all of my kit and dodges.

Did some of the Kingdom Hearts team work on this? I feel like some of these 1v1 story boss encounters rival some of the best encounters from Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3. Regardless, I can only imagine how hard some of these bosses will be in the harder difficulty.

Sure, Final Fantasy has changed from entry to entry, but massive changes began at X (in the case of X regarding world structure, not so much combat) and continued. I hate the talk like the games have been radically different every iteration when really I-IX were mostly iterative. XVI is pretty damn different than what came before, not sure why people don't want to admit this.
Because people love their disingenuous arguments, especially the shill portion of the FF fanbase

I meant to say dancing steel is bad. Not zantetsuken.

Odin's skillset is all about Zantetsuken. None of the abilities are particularly damaging, it's all about building that Zantetsuken meter. Dancing Steel being the fastest most reliable way to fill the meter. Also I think people are better off having Dancing Steel, but using an ability from a different Eikon to fill in the other slot.

Question for those who've beaten the game:

I'm in Waloed, pretty far in the game I think. The world has been dark and purplish for awhile now, with somber music playing all the time. I miss how bright and colorful the world used to be during exploration, and I miss side quests as well. I know I'm getting closer and closer to a Point Of No Return, so my question is, will the rest of the game be dark and purplish, or does the world revert back before the endgame? I'm asking because if I can do the last of the sidequests when the world is restored, I'd rather do it then.
This is one of my main issues with the game. No it stays like that

Finally finished it. I started completely skipping all sidequests bar the "plus" ones halfway through because it's been a decade since I've last seen quest design this bad. "Oh you've just killed a demigod? No one cares! Now go pick me some flowers, cunt!". Same goes for the nonexistent character and gear builds or the combat system that's 99% just cycling through the eikon abilities and hitting dodge at the right time ...
And god this game was a drag in the end with dialog and cutscenes written by someone who really wanted to put the audience to sleep or make them die from cringe....
If it wasn't for the pretty spectacular Eikon fights and some of the fantastic setpieces I'd have dropped this otherwise thoroughly mediocre game at the ten hour mark or so.
I absolutely don't understand how this game which seems to be stuck somewhere in the 90s design wise could score so high....

Patch 1.03 is out.

Adds a motion blur slider and more button maps.

Finally, would have been nice 30~ hours ago but it'll do.

edit: 2 is the sweet spot for me. 0, 1 make the no-blur judder a bit obvious with camera pans and anything above 2 brings back the double/ghost trail on Clive when rotating the camera fast.

Same result as TheKremlinBossMan TheKremlinBossMan
