Forza Horizon 5 Launches April 29 on PS5 | Early Access Starts April 25 with the Premium Edition

yeah right, "probably" lol. waiting for your google investigation to conclude i guess
meanwhile this shit is standardized for each and every xbox first party release. thats how they are trying to fill the gamepass crater.

Not Goggling shit, but be my guest.

also not on every first party game. But could be going forward, it’s been successful when they have used it.

Sweet, now this thread is about PlayStation vs. Xbox and Early Access!

Anyway.

Forza Horizon 5 Drifts Onto PS5 in April

Rev it up.

After an announcement last month that Forza Horizon 5 would be coming to PS5 this fall, we now have confirmation of an exact release date: April 25 for those who purchase the Premium Edition for $99.99, and April 29 for everyone else.

This comes from an announcement today on the official website, which also included news of an update arriving to the game on all platforms on April 25. The update, Horizon Realms, will include four new cars, a new racetrack layout at the Horizon Stadium, and a mixture of returning environments selected from past community favorites.

We learned last month that Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 will include all the same content as the Xbox and PC versions, including Car Packs, the Hot Wheels expansion, and the Rally Adventure expansion, will all be included too.

Forza Horizon 5 is just one of several previously Xbox-exclusive games that's headed to PlayStation, with Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle preceding it. While Xbox is the first of the three major platform holders to really push for cross-platform first-party releases like this, there's been increasing discussion in the industry as to whether or not exclusives really make sense for most major releases given how expensive games have become to make, and how exclusives can limit sales.

We gave Forza Horizon a coveted IGN 10/10 on its Xbox/PC launch, so needless to say we recommend PlayStation owners dig in. At the time, our reviewer said it's "the result of a racing studio at the peak of its craft and the best open-world racing game I’ve ever played."

I remember this very game having early access and when I checked the in game leaderboards before regular launch it had over a million people

I dont know what they consider a success but that seems like a decent amount to me buying the premium edition

I'm glad Senua Senua made me realize how shit this practice is.

Imo, a boycott could make MS change their ways.
If lack of sales got them to bring their games to Playstation and Nintendo, maybe a Forza boycott could force them to step away from these predatory practices.

I thought it might do well but they should have come in at much lower pricing imo, like half of what it is and get the excitement up for Forza 6 and launch that day one on PS
yeah I was thinking we’d see the late port launch discount like when Epic/Ubi exclusives come to Steam later

I’ll wait for an eventual sale assuming it gets a good boost on the Pro, otherwise why would I play this version over my Steam Deck? at full price I mean

Yeah, but FH5 premium edition had a bit more than just early access.

Not even remotely the same thing contexually speaking.

Stop being disingenuous.
Well, there is the Early Access program, but you can also pay to play games early. I don't know if Steam calls that something else. But they offer MANY games from MANY developers that have 5 days, 7 days, etc early access. Not being disingenuous at all. But thanks for your concern.

Should be and we likely still have a GAF club on there though doubt its very active anymore

But still a group to hang out and try to beat fellow gaffers records.

I will be sure and be on a few days after PS launch and get people in if they search GAF under clubs and ask for an invite
It would be cool to have all players on the same leaderboard. I havent played in a while, but Id get on to play again if its crossplay. I got a ton of stuff to catch up with. I think pc and xbox players are on the same leaderboard already, so it would be odd with PlayStation having a separate one.

Same. With Starfield, they threw in the expansion with it, so it was an easier buy-in.

Making it part of an expansion makes a lot more sense. Still.....think I would rather everyone get the game at the same time. I say that from a community perspective as I enjoy discussing the game with my fellow gaffers as we play. Staggered launches offset the conversation a bit.

I have way too many hours (yes hours) invested into the first look, have been really tempted to hit that early access purchase but might as well wait now
Yes, you should wait. I think it's available tomorrow? I was excited about the access to Sunday Red clothes from Tiger, but I have already changed out of those clothes. FWIW, uninstall First Look. The final game doesn't unlock first look.

Another thing it does is give more chances to spoilers. At least for story driven games.

A Fucking Idiot
People would double dip if it was cross-save. Unfortunately it's not even cross save between Xbox and PC. If MS is all about making it easier on the gamer why cant this be a thing? Just log in to a MS account(like Minecraft) and take your progress with you regardless of where you play.

It’s not cross save between Xbox and Steam but it is cross save between Xbox and PC if you use the Xbox app

I hoped for $50, but $60 isn't terrible. Yeah yeah 4 year old game blah blah. It's a flagship game that is still the same price on its original platforms, so I don't see the problem in the slightest.

Interesting to see the PS5 Pro still has 2 separate modes.

This has the chance to sell 10m on Playstation.
I think this will easily be their best selling title to date (at least until Gears and Halo drop) but 10M seems high. Do we know what Sea of Thieves sold?

ftfy. If these games move the needle for Microsoft gaming revenue then expect them to step on the gas with ports going forward. Stockholders are never satisfied.

What other ‘gas’ is there to step on? Nothing is off limits and Xbox has gone fully third party now.
Pretty sure we’ll see a lot of Xbox games at the Switch 2 Direct in April.

Assuming the games sell well on Playstation.

At least this one will.

Day one releases on PS is the "other gas".

The only reason Day one release on PS is not the norm now is because the pivot to third party didn’t happen early enough for it to be planned in.

Very likely games that are 2026 and further will be day one. Including stuff like the upcoming Halo, Blade and Elder Scrolls 6.

MS certainly isn’t leveraging timed exclusivity for anything else again.

I agree, very likely. All I'm saying is that revenue boost due to PS ports will have an impact on how likely.
